Marguerite G. Findlay 1921 - 2004 Marguerite Findlay, 83, formerly of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Thursday, November 4, 2004. Born in Antigonish, NS, on January 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Florence (MacPherson) Chisholm. She is survived by her sons, Lester Cormier (Corine) of Squamish, BC, and Creighton Cormier (Ginette) of Riverview; daughters, Daphne Rogosa (Jonny) of Fort Francis, ON, and Valerie Cormier, of Toronto, ON; sisters, Nan McCallum and Eileen Chisholm, both of Antigonish, NS; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her husbands, Phil Cormier and Harold Findlay; as well as brothers, Harold and Colin. There will be no visitation by personal request. A private family service will be held, followed by Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated. Evariste was predeceased by his parents Bridget and Michael Guitard as well as his son Louie. She was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Miramichi; a member of the A.C.W.; a member of A.T.H.; a former member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi; as well as a former member of the Ladies Aux., of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion; and a volunteer with the Mentally Handicapped at the Lobban House, Miramichi. Milita Netzel June 05, 1924 - November 06, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) At 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the age of 80 years at the Seven Oaks Hospital, God called our Dearly Beloved Mom and Grandma Home to Eternal Rest and Peace. Milita was born on June 5, 1924 in Fedorowka, USSR. She moved with her family to Canada in May of 1953 whereby she set up residence in Winnipeg Manitoba. She was most definitely a very "UNIQUE" individual. Leaving her homeland was very difficult for her but her love of it ALWAYS remained with her. Our Mom and Grandma faced many hardships and struggles in her life but always managed to remove the barriers with a strong will and determination. A very hard working and courageous woman. After arriving in Winnipeg she became a seamstress with Silpit Industries where she was employed for 37 years never missing a day except for funerals, working weekdays and weekends and overtime just to provide us with a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our back. Money was never her God in Life and neither was the materialistic world. She lived a very quiet reserved life. There may not have been a title behind her name nor did she hold any positions but her love for her family, friends, strangers and animals was overpowering. Her love of cooking, baking, sewing and gardening skills were also top notch at one time and even towards the end of her time. She always put herself last on the list of priorities. Mom and Grandma was also a very religious person inside, who always obeyed God's "TEN COMMANDMENTS". She always prayed faithfully and continuously everyday for everyone and was always very troubled by the world events everywhere. A very compassionate, sensitive, caring and loving individual all around. There was many a day and many a time we could not understand her and were left frustrated, but this was her nature and personality and no one could ever change her lifestyle or way of thinking no matter how hard one tried. May God, Jesus, The Angels and all family and friends that have predeceased you in the past wrap their loving wings around you and welcome you to your new home to the Greatest Place Ever, "HEAVEN." Your eyes have made us see your words have made us listen. God gave us a "ANGEL" when he chose you to be our "MOTHER" and "GRANDMOTHER." You have left a legacy that will live with us forever. Our heartfelt thanks also go out to the various floors/units that our Mama and Oma was on while she was struggling so very hard with her various illnesses. Est ordonné prêtre à la basilique de Québec, le 7 juin 1941, par le cardinal J.-M. Rodrigue Villeneuve. En 1941, il est nommé prêtre-auxiliaire au Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière; de 1951 à 1954, vicaire à Saint-Patrice, Rivière-du-Loup; de 1954 à 1958, vicaire à L’Islet; en 1958, vicaire à Sainte-Hélène; de 1959 à 1972, curé de Saint-Athanase; de 1972 à 1986, aumônier à la Maison provinciale des soeurs de l’Enfant-Jésus à Rivière-du-Loup. En 1975, il est aussi nommé animateur suppléant de pastorale à l’Hôtel-Dieu de Rivière-du-Loup; de 1986 à 1995, animateur de pastorale au Foyer Villa Maria de Saint-Alexandre. En 1995, se retire au Collège Sainte-Anne. Depuis 1997, demeure à la Villa Saint-Jean à La Pocatière. McKAY, DOROTHY A. - The death of Dorothy Agnes McKay, of 117 Somerset Street, Saint John, wife of the late Police Chief Harry McKay, occurred on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late William James and Kate (Carlin) Earle. Mrs. McKay enjoyed her home and her love of flowers made her an avid gardener. VANDER DOELEN, John, It is with great sadness that the families of the late John Vander Doelen announce his passing at the Welland County General Hospital, on November 7, 2004, after a short illness. John was born in Holland in 1924. He leaves behin d his loving wife Anne, daughters Rita (Ron) Wreggitt of Niagara Falls, Diane (Paul) O'Brien of London and son Jack (Rhonda) Vander Doelen, of Welland. Cherished grandfather of Beverlyanna Vander Doelen, Laura and Megan O'Brien, and Matthew, Brian an d Christopher Wreggitt. Growing up in war-torn Holland was not easy and John remembered and was especially thankful, particularly this time of year, of the Canadian soldiers' sacrifices to liberate his country. This was a factor in his immigration to Canada in 1951 with his wife Anne at his side. He loved his adopted country and travelled coast to coast extensively. His lifetime hobby of working with cars helped in forming many long lasting friendships. He worked for (31) years at General Motors in St. Catharines, retiring in 1987. This gave him more time to pursue his love of reading, becoming a regular at the Fonthill Library, with its friendly and helpful staff. Gardening was also a life long hobby. Later on he expanded his horizons by b ecoming computer literate, and spent time surfing the net. He was a longtime member of St. Alexander's Church. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. BERTRAND, Reina Lily (nee Chaput) Passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her family November 6, 2004, at the age of 74 years. Beloved wife of the late Real Bertrand (1984). Charles Fortier, 96 PRESCOTT -- Longtime Prescott resident Charles Fortier died at Wellington House Nursing Home on October 2. He was 96. He was born in Prescott on December 3, 1907 to Charles George Fortier and the former Alice Provost. He was raised and educated in Prescott. On April 12, 1928 he married the former Margaret Smithers of Ogdensburg, N.Y., who predeceased him on December 30, 1997. He had quit school at the age of 14 and gone to work at Newell's factory and then at Wiser's Distillery until it closed in 1932. He then started his own trucking business delivering coal, and he also went into small engine sales and service. He was well known for fixing bikes and lawnmowers and sharpening skates. He also made ice at both the curling and skating rinks. In 1968 he retired so he and his family could enjoy the cottage they owned for 33 years at the North Channel. Mr. Fortier built all his own boats for fishing and pleasure. He also loved to hunt. After the cottage was sold he and his wife took up camping, which they both enjoyed. He also enjoyed making and eating popcorn. In 1997 he and his wife moved to Wellington House due to failing health. He enjoyed reading and talking about old times. Mr. Fortier is survived by his son Norman and wife Joan and his daughter Beverly Thomson, all of Prescott, as well as nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Besides his wife Margaret, he was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Lenore, Knightly and Jack; and son-in-law Gary Thomson. Friends called at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott on October 5. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church on October 6. Great-granddaughter Lindsay Miller read the eulogy and great-granddaughter Amanda Bush played the bagpipes at the church and the cemetery. Burial was at St. Mark's Cemetery. The pallbearers were Howard, David and Peter Fortier, Michael Thomson, Tracy Miller and Gavin Bush. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and Palliative Care at Wellington House Nursing Home were gratefully acknowledged by the family.
