HILL, Hannah, February 12, 1927 - October 23, 2004 - Surrounded by her loving family at the St. Catharines General Hospital at 77 years of age. Left with wonderful and numerous memories are her children Sharon Severy, Virginia Heinrichs, Linda (Sand y) Edmondson, Cindy Hill and Randy Hill. Will be greatly missed by her 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, her sisters Hilda Zalot, Kay Voth and brother John Fast, numerous nieces and nephews. Hannah is predeceased by her best friend of 35 years George Severy (1990), her beloved son Frank and his wife Leah (1997), her mother and father Margaret and Peter Fast, her sisters Elma Hipkins and Rosie Fast. Hannah was employed at the St. Catharines General Hospital for 27 years and was an avid bingo player. She was known by all her childrens friends as "Ma". Friends will be received at the PATRICK J. DARTE Funeral Chapel (39 Court St. 905-685-6584) on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will tak e place in the Chapel on Wednesday (Time to be Confirmed). SULLIVAN, Barbara (nee Dedman) - It is with sadness that Barbara's family announce her passing on Friday, October 22, 2004 at Nipissing Manor after a lengthy illness, she was 59 years old. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her husband Garry and son Shane Sullivan. Her brother Jack Dedman and his wife Leone and special Aunt Eunice Phillips will also sadly miss her. Predeceased by her parents Graham and Isabelle Dedman. HYLAND, Donald Bennett 84 years, passed away at Chateau Park Nursing Home on Friday, October 22, 2004. Formerly of 939 Cabana Rd. West. Predeceased by parents Ben and Ethel, and brother Jack. Beloved husband of Lillian (nee Allen). Dear father of Heather Cregan (Dan) of Montreal; Tim (Debbie) of Windsor; Alison McLeod (Trent) of Ayr; Loving grandfather of Kerry and Linda Cregan of Montreal; James Hyland of Barrie; Jack and Danica McLeod of Ayr. Dear step-grandfather of Sean, Tim and Darren Cregan, and Bill and Paul Cramer. Dear brother-in-law of Helen Hyland of Michigan, and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Don graduated from Queen's University in Chemical Engineering and was a respected employee of the Canadian Salt Co. in Windsor and Montreal. While in Montreal, he was an elder in T.M.R. Presbyterian Church and after retirement attended Leamington United Church and Paulin Memorial Church. Don was a faithful member of Roseland Golden K Kiwanis. A celebration of the kind and gentle person Don was will take place Sunday, November 7, 2004, at 4 p.m. at Paulin Presbyterian Church, Rev. Wendy Paterson officiating. Cremation has taken place. DRAGOM, George John passed away October 23, 2004, at Royal Oak Long Term Care Centre, at 96 years of age. Late of Colchester, Ontario. Born in Verenchanka, Bukovina, Rom-ania in 1908 and immigrated to Canada at 14 years of age. Dear uncle of Al and Marjorie Boroski of Colchester; Patricia Hunter of London, Ontario. Predeceased by his beloved brother and sister-in-law William and Velma Bezen, and his dear sister Martha Boyko. Special great uncle to Jim and Barbara York of Walnut Creek, California; Ken and Kathy Boroski of Mississauga; Tom and Carol Boroski of Windsor; Michael Hunter of London, England; Jackie and Kelly McCann of Guelph, Ontario; and several great-great nieces and nephews. Mr. Dragom was the owner and proprietor of "George's Confectionary" for 45 years. PLANT, Ethel L. (Corbin) Ethel's final curtain call was on Oct. 23, 2004, at the age of 101. Born in 1903, London, Ontario. She married Elton M. Plant in 1922, who died December 31, 1991. Mother of W.E.C. (Al) Plant and wife Julie of Hawaii. Grandmother of Kelly Ross, Scott Plant, Christopher Plant, and Great Grandmother of Brianna, Kaitlyn and Meighan Ross, and loving friend to many. In her early years she was in show business as a Vaudeville performer and a singer on the radio (WMBC in Detroit, CKLW in Windsor). She was a founding member and performer with the First Windsor Theatre Guild (1925-34). In the 1960's she was Vice-President of Federal Property Protection Co. Ltd. One of Ethel's favorite memories was that of her 100th Birthday celebration that was held in March of 2003 where she enjoyed reminiscing with friends and family. Her wishes were that you remember her as she was on that special day in her life. She was honored with a Life Membership in the Women's Auxiliary of University of Windsor, Home & School Association, and the Downtown Windsor Lioness Club, of which she was a charter member and officer. She also served the Windsor-Essex Cancer Society and as Vice-President of Women's Section for one term; choir member and Sunday school teacher at Lincoln Rd. United Church where Memorial Services will be held for her Saturday, October 30th, 2004, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Dawn Wheeler presiding. SARKIS, Cenira Konig 69 years young, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2004, surrounded by her family, after a battle with cancer. Devoted wife of 41 years to Wadih. Beloved mother of Marcelo and wife Jackie-Lynn, Maristela Suchiu and husband Jason. Wonderful grandmother to grandsons Jesse and Elisha. Predeceased by her parents Militao and Eulina (de Sa) Konig. Cenira will be sadly missed by her sisters Aurora Sampaio and her late husband Josue, Eneida Esteves and husband Raimundo, Celia Bail and husband Evaldo, all of Brazil. She will also be dearly missed by all her in-laws, especially the family of the late Balokia Maksoud, Saida Jabbour and family, Leam-ington; James Sarkis and family, Leamington; Waded Nohra and family, Lebanon; Rosa Gebrayel and family, Lebanon; and by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends here and abroad. She will be especially missed by her dear friends Santa and family and Ann. As a passionate gardener, a constant display of local and tropical plants filled her yard and house throughout the year. Her love for animals, especially her cats brought her much joy in this life. We thank her for passing on these joys to us and teaching us so much more. MICHALUK, John - Passed away peacefully at the Plummer Memorial Hospital on Sunday October 24th, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of Joyce for 53 years. Loving father of Brenda-Jayne Campbell (Gary Mancuso). Special Papa of his beloved Caitlin Campbell. Special father to Danny Campbell. Cherished son of the late Alexandria and Eli Michaluk. Dear brother of Helen Michaluk (Peter Hulumchuck), late Bill Michaluk (Stella), late Olga L'Heureux (late Vic), late Ann McClatchey (late John), late Peter Mitchell (late Mary), late Mary Huminicki (late Walter). John will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was president of the Royal Canadian Naval Association for many years and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. John was a dear friend of Leonard Hackett (late Marg), also Ann and Laurie Nenonen who helped so much in our hours of need. He leaves behind his beloved dog Coco and cat Smokey. M. Duke était chaudronnier «boilermaker» de profession et était membre de l’union local 73. J. Urbain Robichaud (1918-2004) l'Acadie Nouvelle - 25 octobre 2004 COVEDELL – À l’Hôpital rég-ional de Miramichi, le samedi 23 octobre 2004, à l’âge de 85 ans et 10 mois, est décédé J. Urbain Robichaud, époux de feu Emily Kenny (16 avril 1972), domicilié à Covedell. Né à Pointe-Sapin le 6 décembre 1918, il était fils de feu Daniel Robichaud et de feu Marthe Mazerolle. Il laisse dans le deuil trois filles: Donna Cormier (Fred) de Bathurst, Frances (feu Emmanuel Savoie) de Miramichi et Louise (Gaston Savoie), avec qui il demeurait à Covedell; deux fils: Ernest (Deborah Morrisson) de Tabusintac et Gérald (Dianne Vetsch) d’Edmonton, Alberta; cinq soeurs: Nathalie (feu James Carroll) d’Escuminac, Charlotte (feu Jean-Noël Darveau) de St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Qc, Eva (Cyriac Comeau), Antoinette Fontaine et Andréa (Rosaire Daigle), toutes de Saint-Louis-de-Kent; quatre belles-soeurs: Julie Robichaud (feu Daniel) de Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Emma Gratton, Frances Savoie et Alida Kenny, toutes de Covedell, ainsi que 11 petits-enfants, huit arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux et nièces. Robichaud était un ancien combattant de la Seconde Guerre mondiale (1939-1945). Il était membre à vie de la Légion royale canadienne de Néguac, filiale no 61, et il en a été président pendant 20 ans. Il a été directeur de la Coopérative de Tabusintac et de la Credit Union de Tabusintac pour plus de 18 ans. La famille recevra parents et amis au salon «La Colombe» de Néguac, à compter de 14h, le mardi 26 octobre. MARLENE REFF The family of Marlene Reff, of Manitou Rapids, FN, is saddened by her passing on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct., 26, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Green-Larson Funeral Home in International Falls, Mn. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Marlene loved to go fishing with her husband, she took special joy in working with the elderly people, and her loved nightly Bingo. Marlene was predeceased by her father, Arthur Hunter; and father-in-law, Bill Reff. She will be missed by her husband, Joe Reff; daughters, Becky Arenas (Hunter) and David, and Jana Reff; mother, Helen Hunter; sister, Linda Beck (Hunter) and Joe; brother, Rupert Hunter (Sandy); and nieces and nephews, Juanita, Tina, Tammy, Clinton, Mathew, and Tessa. WILLIS A. TONINATO Willis A. Toninato, 79, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at the Falls Memorial Hospital in International Falls. Born Sept. 5, 1925 in Fort Frances, Ont., he grew up in Fort Frances and attended St. Mary’s School. Willie served in the Canadian Navy during W.W. II and received an honourable discharge in 1946. Willie played the positions of left-wing and centre on the Fort Frances Canadians hockey team during the late 1940s and early ’50s, which later went on to win the Allan Cup in 1952. He also played hockey for the Sioux Hawks in Sioux City, Iowa during the mid-1950s. While on the Sioux Hawks, Willie broke the American League all-time record by scoring three goals in 58 seconds. In later years, he played for the Warroad Lakers. Willie was united in marriage to Joyce E. Reidt on June 30, 1948 in Fort Frances. He and his wife moved to International Falls, and became U.S. citizens in 1952. He and Joyce have been members of the First Lutheran Church in International Falls since then. Willie worked for Minnesota Telephone Co., and later for Minnesota Hydro and Boise Cascade as an electrician during the late ’50s through the late ’80s. He served as president of the Electricians’ Union Local 731 for six years. Willie also served four years on the City of International Falls council as an alderman at large. He was a volunteer fireman for the International Falls fire department for 24 years, and also was a member of the International Falls Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed many activities with his wife and family, including dancing, travelling, fishing and hunting with his sons and friends, downhill skiing, golfing, and gardening. He also loved coaching Pee-Wee, Squirts, and Bantam hockey teams for many years, and followed the Bronco hockey teams throughout his life in the Falls. Willie was predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Elise Toninato; sisters, Nettie, Vera, and Aida; and brothers, James, Tony, Joe, Patrick, and Raymond. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce E. SMITH, Shelley Shelley Anne Smith died October 21, 2004 following a lengthy illness. She is the loved partner of Lauder Smith and raised four wonderful children: Lee Anne Smith and her friend Greg Moulton, Stewart Smith and wife Sara, Lauder Smith an d Merideth Smith. She has one Beautiful grandchild, Samantha Benjamin. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Weir of Winnipeg, sister Gloria Wasacase of Brantford, brother Kirk Weir of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Rooney Weir of Winnipeg, brother-i n-law Kirk Liznick of Iroquois Falls and many much loved nieces and nephews. She is also missed by her other mother, Elvaretta Smith of Newburgh. Shelley worked for many years at Lennox and Addington Family and Children's Services with "her other fam ily". She received a great deal of support from the people there over the past year. Dufresne, Lucille DUFRESNE, Mlle Lucille, est décédée au Centre d'Accueil Champlain d'Ottawa le samedi 23 octobre 2004, à l'âge de 89 ans. Elle était la fille de feu Marius Dufresne et de feu Edwilda Ouellette. Elle laisse dans le deuil son cousin Martial Ouellette d'Ottawa et ses cousines: Jacqueline Beaudoin et Mariette Gervais de North Bay ainsi que de nombreux petits-cousins et petites-cousines. Lucille a été couturière chez Ogilvy's dans les années 50. Dans les années 30, elle a résidé avec ses parents, dans la région de Kapuskasing, North Bay et Sudbury en Ontario ainsi qu'au Québec, dans la région de Val-d'Or et Rouyn-Noranda. Elle fut également paroissienne à l'église Sainte-Anne durant de nombreuses années. Il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire. La messe des funérailles sera célébrée en l'église Sainte-Anne, 528, Ancienne rue St-Patrick, Ottawa, le mercredi 27 octobre à 11h. L'inhumation suivra au cimetière Notre-Dame d'Ottawa. J . Urbain Robichaud 1918 - 2004 COVEDELL, NB - At The Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday, October 23, 2004, passed away, at the age of 85 years and 10 months, Mr. J. Urbain Robichaud, spouse of the late Emily Kenny (April 16, 1972), from Covedell, NB. Born in Pointe-Sapin, NB,on December 6, 1918, he was the son of the late Daniel Robichaud and the late Marthe Mazerolle. Mr. Robichaud was a veteran from World War II (1939-1945). He was a member for life with the Neguac Royal Canadian Legion, branch #61. He was president for that same Legion for 20 years. Mr. Robichaud was the director of the Tabusintac Cooperative and the Tabusintac Credit Union for over 18 years. He is survived by three daughters, Donna Cormier (Fred) from Bathurst, Frances (late Emmanuel Savoie) from Miramichi and Louise (Gaston Savoie), with whom he was living in Covedell; two sons, Ernest (Deborah Morrisson) from Tabusintac and Gérald (Dianne Vetsch) from Edmunton, AB; five sisters, Nathalie (late James Carroll) from Escuminac, Charlotte (late Jean-Noël Darveau) from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC, Eva (Cyriac Comeau), Antoinette Fontaine and Andréa (Rosaire Daigle), all three from St-Louis-de-Kent; four sisters-in-law, Julie Robichaud (late Daniel) from St-Louis-de-Kent, Emma Gratton, Frances Savoie and Alida Kenny, all from Covedell; as well as 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters: Clémentine and Mary; as well as six brothers, Aurèle, Livain, Yvon, Ovila, Alvery and Daniel.
