Walter N Naugler July 10, 1936 - October 23, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) NAUGLER, Walter N. - 68, Halifax, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2004, in hospital. Born in Upper LaHave, he was a son of the late Otto Sinclair and Muriel (Richards) Naugler. After graduating from Bridgewater High School in 1954, Walter went to work with the Department of National Defence, retiring in 1991 after 37 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Fairview Legion. He enjoyed playing bingo and the lotto, always hoping for "the big win". He was an avid sports enthusiast and was a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. He loved country and western music, and was a talented guitarist, playing with local groups like the "Charlie Acker Band". He was an excellent gardener and loved the outdoors, taking regular walks along the waterfront with Barbara Nicholson, his companion of 23 years. Along with Barbie, he is survived by children from an earlier marriage, Gail and Jamie; six grandchildren; sisters, Norma (Jack) Knowler, Windsor, Ont.; Elsie (Harding) Corkum, LaHave; also a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will also be sadly missed by "the cat", Tom. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visitation will take place today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, October 26, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. MARLENE REFF The family of Marlene Reff, of Manitou Rapids, FN, is saddened by her passing on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Marlene loved to go fishing with her husband, she took special joy in working with the elderly people, and her loved nightly Bingo. SMITH, Shelley Shelley Anne Smith died October 21, 2004 following a lengthy illness. She is the loved partner of Lauder Smith and raised four wonderful children: Lee Anne Smith and her friend Greg Moulton, Stewart Smith and wife Sara, Lauder Smith an d Merideth Smith. She has one Beautiful grandchild, Samantha Benjamin. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Weir of Winnipeg, sister Gloria Wasacase of Brantford, brother Kirk Weir of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Rooney Weir of Winnipeg, brother-i n-law Kirk Liznick of Iroquois Falls and many much loved nieces and nephews. She is also missed by her other mother, Elvaretta Smith of Newburgh. Shelley worked for many years at Lennox and Addington Family and Children's Services with "her other fam ily". She received a great deal of support from the people there over the past year. There will be a gathering of family, friends and neighbours to celebrate her life and say farewell at the Newburgh Hall, Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. Please, no flowers or gifts. Born in Verenchanka, Bukovina, Rom-ania in 1908 and immigrated to Canada at 14 years of age. Dear uncle of Al and Marjorie Boroski of Colchester; Patricia Hunter of London, Ontario. Predeceased by his beloved brother and sister-in-law William and Velma Bezen, and his dear sister Martha Boyko. Special great uncle to Jim and Barbara York of Walnut Creek, California; Ken and Kathy Boroski of Mississauga; Tom and Carol Boroski of Windsor; Michael Hunter of London, England; Jackie and Kelly McCann of Guelph, Ontario; and several great-great nieces and nephews. Mr. Dragom was the owner and proprietor of "George's Confectionary" for 45 years. Friends will be received at the Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 895 Ouellette Avenue (254-3223), on Monday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. James Robert Cummings SAINT JOHN, NB - The family of Jim Cummings are deeply saddened to announce his death which occurred on October 23, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Raymond and Roma (Andrews) Cummings and the husband of Emma (Coster) Cummings. Jim owned and operated several businesses in the Moncton area prior to moving to Saint John, where he was employed by Centracare Saint John Inc. until his retirement in 1995. Jim was active with MindCare New Brunswick and did volunteer work with various community organizations. He enjoyed all sports, especially hockey and baseball, which he coached in the Kennebecasis Valley area for many years. In his earlier years he played for the Moncton Beavers Hockey Team and was especially proud of their championship win in 1957. Jim is survived by his wife, Emma (Coster) Cummings; one daughter, Karen Scott (Kevin) of Sussex; one son, Kevin (Ciara McKenna) of Rothesay; two precious granddaughters, Alannah "Joe" and Cassidy, he cherished every moment he could spend with them and enjoyed their "special performances"; a wonderful mother-in-law, Helen (Thompson) Coster; numerous special brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews and close cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant son, Todd. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at 10:00 AM, from St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Quispamsis. Dennis Jones 1945 - 2004 Dennis Jones, of Lewisville Road, and formerly of Harrisville, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the age of 59. Born in Harrisville, he was the son of the late Norman and Genevea (Melvin) Jones. He was employed with the City of Moncton as a refrigeration mechanic for 12 years and prior to that he was employed with Electrical Refrigeration Ltd. for 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisher. He is survived by his wife, Allana (Terris); a son, Christopher Jones (Amanda); daughters, Tracy Shediac and Kimberly Vautour (Ron); four sisters, Barbara Ryan (Jack), Ella Surrette (Raymond), Linda Mitchell (Cecil) and Norma Crawford (Rick); grandchildren, Craig and Kelsey; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Besides his parent; he was predeceased by a brother, George Jones. At the request of the family there will be no visitation or funeral service. He leaves in deep sorrow his adoring wife Stacie, his loving mother and stepfather Claire and Eddy Ferraro, his stepsister Cynthia Ferraro (Daniel Aston), his father and stepmother Marshall and Sharon Heckaman of Indiana along with his siblings, Andria, David and Allan, his father in-law and mother in-law Mike and Marjorie Bland of Maryland and their daughters Resha and Stephanie, Stacie's grandmother Anastacia Quitania, Matthew's grandparents Adrien and Cecile Blanchette of Montreal, John and Ruth Heckaman of Indiana. He was predeceased by his stepbrother Jonathan Ferraro. Matthew will also be mourned by his aunts and uncles Helene Blanchette (Denis Pare) and Pierre Blanchette of Montreal, Nicole Blanchette (Brian Smith) of London, Ont., and Dorothy (Doc) Anderson of Illinois and by all of his extended family and friends in Montreal, Indiana, Maryland and elsewhere.
