Mr. Michael Edward Cheney - July 28, 1941 - June 26, 2004 - Former Firefighter who served under the Toronto Branch Firehouse 10 Died suddenly at the Kingston General Hospital on June 26, 2004 in his 63rd year. Michael will be greatly missed by his loving daughter Rowena and his wife Anne. He will always be remembered by his brothers and sisters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as his friends and neighbours. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Jane Ford (née Stewardson) - September 29, 1909 - June 26, 2004 - passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26th, 2004 at Grandview Lodge. Jane was born on September 29th, 1909 in Moorside, Cumberland County, England. She came to Canada as a small child with her parents Frederick and Miriam Stewardson and they settled in the Slate River area. She received her education in Slate River School and Fort William (Kings) Business College. In 1937 she married Walter K. Ford at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Slate River. Jane will be lovingly remembered by her son Walter Jr. and wife Colleen of Cardston, Alberta, daughters; Carol Gamble of Thunder Bay and Joan and husband Ken Jorgenson of Cranbrook, BC. Her memory will also be cherished by her brother Ernest Stewardson of Slate River, her grandchildren; Lori and husband Kevin Trelinski, Les Gamble,Debbie and husband Kyle Hope, Jeff Jorgenson, Gary Jorgenson and wife Tracey, Jodi and husband Bill Johnston, David Ford and wife Cindy and Kari Lynn and husband, and seven great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, her parents, one grandson Lindsay, one brother Robert and five sisters: Anne Lockwood, Miriam Durham, Ada Hamilton, Hilda Payne and Frances Andrews. A memorial service for Mrs. Ford will be held in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre on Wednesday, June 30th at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Canon Paul Carr officiating. Elizabeth "Betty" Forsythe Gilhespy (née Robertson) - June 09, 1918 - June 26, 2004 - On June 26th, 2004, Betty Gilhespy of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Robbie Gilhespy, loving mother of two sons, Jim (Irene) of Sherwood Park, Bill (Marj) of Edmonton; six grandchildren Paul (Debbie), Bruce (Amie), Steven of Sherwood Park, and Robbie, Carron (Dave), and Tracey (Martin) of Edmonton and thirteen great grandchildren. Betty was born in Scotland on June 9th, 1918, immigrated with Robbie to Canada in 1973 to join their sons. Her love for family and friends will always be remembered. We invite all who knew her to celebrate her life at a Memorial Service on Saturday July 3, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the South Side Memorial Chapel (8310-104th Street, Edmonton). Isabella Gilmour (née Morrison) - beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunty, cousin, and friend passed away on June 26, 2004 at the age of 82. Isabel came to Canada from Blairgowrie, Scotland as a war bride in 1944. Isabel was pre-deceased by Earl, her loving husband of 55 years in 1998, her oldest son Gary in 1999, and her sisters: Margaret Morrison, Peggy Gavine, Mary Thompson and her brothers: William Morrison and Bill Imray. Isabel is survived by her children: Brian (Evangeline), Dianne (Roy), Shelagh (Gordon), Marian (Walter), and Scott; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Alva Dovell, Maureen Imray, brothers-in-law Lorne Dovell, and Jim Gavine. Isabel raised her family and lived in the north end of Regina until moving to senior’s housing at the Trianon Tower in 1998. Although Regina was in many ways far from the tiny village in Scotland where Isabel grew up, she always said Regina was the perfect place for her to live. Isabel loved the outdoors and was never happier than when she was camping and fishing. She enjoyed her work at Sears from the early 1960’s until the early 1980’s. In recent years, Isabel’s social life revolved around her involvement with the Saskatchewan War Brides’ Association. She will be forever missed by all the members of her large family. Adelle Marion Coffin (née Devenne)- - December 10, 1953 - June 27, 2004 - 50 yrs, Charlottetown, P.E.I., formerly of Lower Sackville, died June 27, 2004, in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Prince Edward Island, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Doris (Cave) Devenne, Halifax, and the late Gordon Devenne. Adelle was a graduate of St. Mary's University (B.A., B.Ed.) and University of Toronto (M.Ed.). She held several teaching positions, most recently at UPEI. She was active in The Canadian Pony Club at local, regional and national levels. She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin; daughters, Allison, Halifax; Emily, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; sister, Debra (Larry) Brinen, Mount Uniacke; brothers, Bruce (Ruth), Lower Sackville; David (Geri), Mahone Bay; John, Banff, Alta.; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today 7-9 p.m. in Belvedere Funeral Home, Belvedere Avenue, Charlottetown, P.E.I., and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 30, at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Glen William Finney - Peacefully, on Sunday June 27th 2004 Glen William Finney passed away at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Alice; sons Ken (Holly) of Kelowna BC, Gary (Tanis) of Winnipeg, Wayne (Angela) of Winnipeg, Daughter Valerie (Wayne) of Winnipeg and grandchildren Teya and Colby, Tyler Colin and Kayla, Heather, Richelle Talia and Lauryn, and Shaylynn. He will be missed by Hank (Sandy) with son Larry of Stoney Creek Ont. Glen is also survived by his brother Dave, sisters Isabelle Tonn and Ruth Kirkland. Dad was predeceased by his daughter Shelley, his parents Richard and Mary-Ann, along with his brothers Robert and John. Glen was born in Grass River, Manitoba on November 24th. Glen spent most of his working years in Thompson, Manitoba where he worked underground and raised his family with Alice in the 1960’s and 70’s. He loved country music, rural living, the prairies, the Rocky Mountains, and the railroad across the West. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with an interment and reception to follow. DERRICK, Julia (Judy) Campbell - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julia on October 13, 2004 while surrounded by her family. Judy was in her 88th year and will be greatly missed by Ross, her best friend and husband for over 61 years. Also surviving are her son Richard, with his wife Joanne, and their daughters Sarah and Eva and her daughter Debra, with her husband Robert Hanna, and their sons, Jefrey and Jeremy. Julia is also survived by her sister Helen Wallace and her niece, Judy Kreig. Julia was a longtime member of St. Patricks Church C.W.L. and was a past Regent of Lord Halifax I.O.D.E. For many years, she enjoyed being a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a former member of the N.F. Curling Club and the Willodell Golf Club. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel of Hetherington & Deans. Cremation has taken place. Harry Lloyd French - February 06, 1920 - June 11, 2004 - 84 yrs, Lower Sackville, died in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on Friday, June 11, 2004. Born in Gander Bay, NL, he was a son of the late Louis and Clara (Oake) French. He worked as a steel worker for 36 years in Cape Breton at Sydney Steel. He thoroughly enjoyed life, especially his family, acting in amateur plays and musicals in Cape Breton, retirement, and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. One of his passions was ice skating, which he did for 68 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Marie (Clarke); sons, Richard "Rick" (Cathy), Wolfville; Gerald (Sylvie), Lower Sackville; grandsons, Wesley and Andre; granddaughter, Stacey, as well as a great-granddaughter, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ada (Hollett); brothers, Doug and Melvin; sister, Barbara, and adopted daughter, Sharon (Landry) Collins. He brought laughter and kindness to everyone he met. Visitation hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., where funeral service will take place Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel, Rev. Mark Kingsbury officiating. She was an avid bridge player and was a very giving person, devoting her life to her family and friends. She will be sadly missed. Alfred "Ray" Ramon Gillon - On Saturday, June 5th, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital in his 80th year. Dearly loved by wife Marie. Mohan was born May 31, 1949 in Pandori, Ladha Singh, India. He was predeceased by his parents Kabul Singh and Karm Kaur. Also by brother Bhajan Singh Dhillon and brother-in-law Ajeet Singh Bawa. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Jasvir, daughter Neatu, son Paul, his sister Gurmeet Bawa, brother Rajinder (Gurmej) Dhillon, numerous nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. His long struggle with his health has finally been put to rest. The family wish to extend a special thanks to Dr. Griffin, Dr. Antonsen, Thelma and the staff at the renal unit. A Funeral Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 20, 2004. Cremation to follow at Paldi Crematorium.

Mrs. Jennie Duda (née Bujak) - November 04, 1956 - June 13, 2004 - Jennie passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 13, 2004 surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Ron and daughter Natalie. Jennie will be sadly missed by her sister Helen {Dave) Miller and brothers Frank (Karen) Buj,k and George Bujak. She is predecea sed by her parents Henia and Frank Bujak. Much loved daughter-in-Iaw of Tillie and Chester Duda and sister-in -law of Janice and Bob Duda-Kosar and Patricia and Joseph Savage-Duda. She leaves behind her niece Stephanie and nephews Andrew, Adam and Justin. Through her interior design practice, Prizma Design, and as a distinguished member of A.R.I.D.O., Jennie fulfilled her lifelong creative passion with notable flare and grace. Jennie lived a very rich and rewarding life. A warm, generous and loving wife and mother as well as a talented design professional, her kindness and consideration touched countless lives. Her courage and strength in the face of her illness were an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. Throughout. her life and even at its end. Jennie expressed her happiness. That is how she will be remembered. Ron would jike to sincerely thank his family, the many friends, neighbours, business associates and health care professionals who have provided generous contributions of love; support and understanding. Ted Philip Degen - Ted, age 87, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by Isabelle, his wife of 59 years; children Kent, Gene (Barbara), Joan (Graham) Mercer; grandchildren, Samantha Wilson, Erin (Peter) Keating, Owen Degen and Kitana Degen; great-granddaughter Summer; and his sister Emma. Ted was raised and farmed in the Darlingford area until 1957. He then moved to Winnipeg and was employed by Powell Equipment until his retirement. Ted was a member of the Southglen Fiddlers and the Seniors Melody Group. He brought a lot of pleasure to family and friends with his music, and his great sense of humor. Memorial service for Ted will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment and reception will follow. Anne Rose Crackston - January 26, 1917 - June 18, 2004 - Anne Rose Crackston of Edmonton passed away in the Good Samaritan Southgate Nursing Home at the age of 87 years. Deeply loved & greatly missed by her children; Charlotte (Gerry) Sommer, Sharon ( Louis) Tourangeau, Judy (Bill) Brady, Betty Hakes (Glenn) & Jim (Sue) Crackston; brother, Bill; sisters, Margie & Evelyn; 11 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Crackston; 9 brothers & sisters. A special thanks to all the staff of the 3rd floor at Good Sam Southgate. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23 at the Chapel of Howard & McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain Rd., Edmonton. Laszlo Cseh (Laci Bacsi) - passed away June 20, 2004 in the Regina General Hospital at the age of 92 years. He was born on December the 16th, 1911 in the Village of Besenyszog in Hungary. He immigrated to Canada on December 29th of 1956. He made his home in Regina, where he married Bertha. He was predeceased by his parents, Janos Cseh & Rosalia Pomazi; two sisters and three brothers in Hungary. He is survived by his loving wife, Bertha; a step-son, Adolph Varjassy (Betsy); his grandson, Allan Varjassy; and two great-grandchildren, Shane and Kendra Varjassy. Laszlo was very proud of becoming a Canadian citizen, but he was also very involved in passing on his Hungarian culture. Since 1959 he has been an active member of Regina Hungarian and Cultural and Social Club. For 18 years he also had been a member of the former St. Stephen’s Hungarian Roman Catholic Parish. Socializing and traveling had been his life-long passion, and he and Bertha made a dozen trips to Hungary to visit relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will take place at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306-789-8850).

Mr. Mohan Singh Gillan - April 11, 1915 - June 21, 2004 - 89 years of age, a highly devout born April 11, 1915 in Punjab, India, passed away peacefully June 21, 2004. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family, including his devoted wife, Dharam Kaur, children; Kuldip, Amarjit (Surinder), Harbjhan, Satwinder (Jagdish) and Mukhtiar (Varinder), Kulwant, twenty-five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mohan served in the Indian army for 31 courageous years, retiring at the age of 50, leaving at the rank of Subadar Major. After arriving in Canada in 1977, Mohan lived in Fort Nelson and Vancouver, before settling in Duncan in 1997. He will be fondly remembered for the many lives he inspired and the good deeds he performed on this stretch of his journey. Those who are close to him will miss his love, witty sense of humour, as well as his strength and wisdom. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Griffin and the staff of Cowichan District Hospital for their support and kindness. We wish him love and eternal peace in his next journey as he joins god and his beloved son, (Jujhar Singh) in heaven.
