Dear mother of Carl Vollrath (Fern) and Brent Vollrath both of North Bay and Grigg Vollrath (Carolyn) of Edmonton. Dear stepmother of Gill Watts (Cynthia) of North Bay and Pamela Casey (Keith) of Barrie. Lovingly remembered by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Freda (Kannegiesser) Giddings and William Giddings, her stepmother Daisie Giddings, her first husband Otto Vollrath, infant baby Vollrath, her second husband Ernest Watts, her sister Audrey Taylor and her brother Laughlin Giddings. Survived by brother Caughlin Giddings of Vancouver, British Columbia, sisters Myrtle Stewart (Iverson) of Port Alexander, Ontario, Joyce Gidding of Nipigon, Ontario, Megan Rathjie of Thunder Bay, Ontario and Beryle Weisner of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Freda worked at Cassellholme Home of the Aged until her retirement. She was actively involved with The Friendship Group at Trinity United Church, she was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, Branch 23, and she was also a member of the Golden Age Club. She was an avid bowler and dart player and she also loved to travel. Resting at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) in North Bay today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the Valley Funeral Home in Deep River on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services to be held at the St. Andrew's United Church in Chalk River on Saturday, October 16th, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the Forest View Cemetery in Chalk River. MORELLI, Florian (Flor) 1947-2004 It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing, on October 13th, of Florian (Flor) at his home in Montreal surrounded by his family. He will be terribly missed by his wife Janis (Gervais), his son Julian, daughter Celia, brother Frank (Diane Charbonneau) and his nephew Didier. He leaves to mourn his in-laws Roger and Joyce Gervais, sisters-in-law Nicole (Jacques), Jo (Bernie), Karen (Bill), brother-in-law Barry (Randie), his many nephews and nieces, friends, colleagues and the numerous students he touched over the years. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Harvey Kreisman, Tara Jesion, Dr. Victor Cohen, Dr. Nathanial Sheiner, Naomi Cogan, Erin and all the nurses in the oncology clinic as well as the staff on the 7 north west at the Jewish General Hospital in helping Flor in his year long fight with cancer. GUSTIN, Zoya (Sonia) (nee Berdugan) Born 17/11/1912 in Perm Ural Russia, passed away at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on October 10, 2004 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband Arkadius on February 14, 1999. Sonia lived her early childhood near St. Petersburg, where her father was the first to contract with International Harvester. As white Russians, they fled on the tide of the Russian Revolution of 1918. Through church connections they fled to Harbin, Manchuria, China where many nationalists were living and building the Trans Siberian railway. Here she met and later married Arkadius Gustin. A year later they were blessed with their only child, a daughter Greta (Margaret). Five years later, life repeated itself with the Japanese invasion, again forcing them to flee from their home and again when the Russian forces drove the Japanese from the area. The family again was forced to evacuate their home with only the clothes on their backs and 2 silver spoons hidden in a coat lining. After the war, they left for Germany and took up residence there until moving to Winnipeg, Canada in 1953 where Arkadius, being a Master Butcher, worked for and later owned their own business. Sonia was greatly affected by the loss of Arkadius on Valentines Day of 1999, and the move to Ottawa March 20th, then the disabling illness of her daughter on March 14th, 2002. Sonia will be greatly missed by her daughter Margaret (Hirkala) and her son-in-law Bernie as well as her grandchildren Brenda (Chupick) and husband Gregory, Jamie and wife Tammy, Mark and wife Yoan, Cheryl (Reid) and her husband Jack and Debi as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Friends may gather in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) for a Memorial Mass on Saturday October 16th at 10 a.m. Reception to follow. The Ottawa Citizen

VLASATY (Huber) Helena In loving memory of Helena Vlasaty 90 years, who passed away Wednesday morning, October 13, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St.Joseph Site. Beloved wife of Richard Vlasaty predeceased, loving mother of Richard Vlasaty of Sudbury and Stefan Huber predeceased. Cherished grandmother of Michael Vlasaty of Sudbury, Shannon Shields of Sault Ste. Marie, Sylvia Harsfall and Monika Mueller both of Austria. Born in Austria, she proudly worked with housekeeping and central supply at the Sudbury General Hospital, receiving her 25 year pin as well as numerous well deserved awards. She was a skilled artisan, well known for her needlepoint and knitting. Helena lived an active and full life, she enjoyed being with others and maintained a wonderful sense of humour. 10e ANNIVERSAIRE PATRICK ROZON On dit que mourir est aussi naturel que vivre. Mais, mourir à 21 ans, ce n'est pas dans l'ordre de la nature. C'est un mystère très douloureux, qui nous déchire l'âme. Comme parent, il n'y a pas de valeur humaine plus précieuse que le bonheur de ses enfants. Notre peine est quotidienne mais nous croyons qu'il est impossible d'autant aimer un enfant et de le perdre pour toujours. Notre foi nous fait croire qu'un jour nous serons à nouveau réunis et chaque jour qui passe nous rapproche de toi. Merci Champion pour les belles années que nous avons passées ensemble et pour cette belle histoire d'amour. Merci de veiller sur nous tous et spécialement sur ton cher frère, Étienne, sa conjointe, Michelle, et leur adorable fille, Laurie. GUTTIN, Bill. Passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2004 at the Ottawa General Hospital with his family at his side. Born January 31, 1939. Survived by his wife Fay, daughter Phemie and her husband Alain and granddaughter Molly. Will be missed by his brothers Max (Jackie) and Doug (Jose). A special thank-you to the care he received during his illness at the Montfort Hospital (3rd floor), General Hospital (7th floor) and ICU. TURCOTTE, Helen (Ellen) Noami - Passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - McLaren Site, on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Helen Cockburn was the beloved wife of the late Philip Charles Turcotte Sr., she was 85 years old. Loving mother of Deanna and her husband Richard Ranger of Powassan, Doreen and her husband Mike Quirt of Burks Falls, Irvin Turcotte of North Bay and mother-in-law of Faye Turcotte also of North Bay. Predeceased by her son Philip Turcotte Jr, on May 1st of this year. Lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Survived by her seven sisters and one brother. Ronald J. Levasseur, Beloved father and friend, formerly of Lewiston, Maine, died Sat., Oct., 9, 2004 at his home in Peoria, AZ at the age of 63. Born February 11, 1941 in Grand Isle, Maine, he was the son of the late O'Neil & Imelda Levasseur of Lewiston, ME. Ronald served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965.He was a union brick layer most of his life and remembered for a wonderful sense of humor and a love for golf. LANOIS, Alain (1952-2004) - On Sunday, October 10 at London, Ontario at the age of 52. He leaves behind, his best friend, his wife, Betty (Leaper), his beloved son, Cliff (friend Michelle) and his very special grandson, Anthony Martin all of London. He will always be lovingly remembered by his mother, Marguerite Lanois of Sturgeon Falls, his sisters: Francine (Daniel) Aubin of Chelmsford, Nicole (Wayne) Ayotte of North Bay, Joanne (Ronald) Jackson of Oshawa, and his nieces and nephews. Dear son-in-law of Archie and Irene Leaper of Cobalt. Predeceased by his father, Germain Lanois (2004) and an infant brother, Pierre. Following cremation at the London Cremation Services in London, Ontario a funeral service will be celebrated by Reverend Père Bernard Cloutier at Saints-Anges Catholic Church, 232 Maplewood Avenue in North Bay on Saturday, October 16 at 11 o'clock. Donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.ca) will be appreciated by his family.
