Ronald William Alexander McNamara September 20, 1940 - October 11, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) McNAMARA, Ronald William Alexander - 64, Halifax, passed away peacefully in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on Monday, October 11, 2004. Born in Evanston, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Gus and Annie Jane (MacDonald) McNamara. In earlier years, Ronald worked as a cook with the CNR, he then worked for many years as a transmission mechanic in the metro area. In retirement he continued to work in small appliance repairs. He was an active member of the Roman Catholic faith, the Blue Knight's Motorcycle Association, and both the Halifax and Nova Scotia Wildlife Associations. He is survived by his wife, Doris K. (McGowan) McNamara; special nephew, Alan McGowan, Halifax, whom Ronald loved and raised as a son; brothers, Martin (Kay), Evanston; George (Ann), Fredericton, N.B.; Karl (Linda), Evanston; sisters, Margaret Johnson, Evanston; Eileen (Bart) Reinders, Evanston; Alfreda (Joe) McPhee, Evanston, Vera (Basil) Borgue, River Bourgeois; sisters-in-law, Fay Spencer, Halifax; Marjorie (Hugh) Brownell, Halifax; a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Eileen Frances and Marguarite. Brian D. Taylor NOTRE DAME, NB - Brian D. Taylor, 57, of Notre Dame, NB, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 11, 2004 following a lengthy illness. Born in Moncton, he was the son of Phyllis (MacWilliam) Taylor of Moncton and the late Donald Taylor. Brian was Branch Manager/Adjuster AIIC for Plant Hope Adjusters Ltd. and former Claims Manager A.I.I.C. for Zurich Canada Insurance. He worked for over 35 years in the general insurance industry, where he worked as a claims professional. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Church and The Men's Club within the Church; member of Salisbury Masonic Lodge #20 F&AM; member of the Insurance Institute of Canada; and member of the Blue Goose. For over 25 years he volunteered at the Notre Dame Community Center. Besides his mother, Brian will be sadly missed by his wife of over 33 years, Della (LeBlanc) Taylor; daughter, Sasha Taylor (Mario Richard) of Notre Dame; son, Shawn Taylor (Crystal Carruthers) of Moncton; sister, Barbara Porter of Moncton; brother, Jim Taylor (Jeannette) of Notre Dame; as well as several nieces and nephews. Annette McNamara (nee Labonte) - Peacefully at Versa Care Center on Saturday October 9, 2004. She was 91. Beloved wife of the late Lindsay McNamara. Dear mother of Sandra Gault (Larry) of Cornwall. Annette’s meaningful life was characterized by her generosity and caring for others. EDNA OLIVE SWENSON Edna Olive Swenson, 86, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at her home. Edna left this earth as she lived on it, surrounded by loved ones. Edna will be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, and good-hearted spirit. She was a loving grandmother and found great joy in time spent with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. “Grams” will forever hold a place in their hearts. Sunday drives with her special friends, Lil Flovick and Ann Longtine, also were always enjoyed by Edna. For several years, Edna worked as a physical therapy aid at Falls Memorial Hospital. She also was a member of Faith United Church of Christ. Edna was born March 17, 1918 in Emo, Ont. to the late Helen (McDermott) and George Mason. She grew up in Fort Frances, Ont., moving to International Falls, Mn. in 1952, where she has lived since. Edna was united in marriage April 15, 1940 to Merritt Swenson, who predeceased her. She also was predeceased by her youngest child, Michael, in 1964; two sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Swenson of St. Paul, Mn. and Garry Swenson of Buhl, Mn.; three daughters, Judy (Joe) Spencer of Duluth, Mn., Jean (Ted) Carlson of Brainerd, Mn., and Nancy Kostiuk of International Falls, Mn.; grandchildren, Michael and David Hawkinson, Marissa Wolden, Michael, Katie, and Lacy Kostiuk, and Sarah Swenson; and great-grandchildren, McKensey Kostiuk, Teddy and Jadelynn Wolden, Alex Hawkinson, Christopher Kane, and Quinn Kostiuk. She also is survived by sisters, Grace Showalter of Toronto, Ont. and Dorothy Judson of Emo, Ont. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Green-Larsen Mortuary in International Falls. Francis "Red" Xavier Westfall July 15, 1923 - October 08, 2004 Westfall, "Red" Francis Xavier Peacefully on Friday October 8, 2004 at Met Hospital with his daughter by his side, at the age of 81. In the 60's, Rollin' Red was a stock car announcer and driver at Checker Flag Raceway. In the 70's he was a professional clown and animal trainer. Known as "DUDE The Cowboy Clown" he performed on CKLW's 'Bozo the Clown' with Buffy the World Famous Clown Dog and at Boblo Island Zoo with Sonny the Chimpanzee. In the 80's, Francis was Colour Guard Commander and a lifetime member of The Royal Canadian Legion, RCL Branch 143. He also celebrated 41 years "One Day At A Time!" Of all his endeavours he was most proud of being a Buddy Ball Umpire for physically and mentally challenged children. Red always had a special place in his heart for kids. Beloved husband of the late Enis "Ann" Westfall (nee Bastianon). Dear Dad to Darlene. Cherished "Papa" of Rachel Enis. Loving brother to only sister Lorraine Mercer. Stanford "Popeye" Graham Sinclair November 03, 1940 - October 06, 2004 Peacefully on Wednesday, October 6th, 2004 at the Percy E. Moore Hospital, our dad, brother, grandpa, husband and uncle went home to be with the Lord at the age of 63. Popeye was born in Fisher River on November 3rd, 1940 to Helen and Joseph Sinclair. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sons, Jimmy (Brenda) Sinclair, Stan (Claudia) Sutherland and their mother Mary; his grandchildren, Brittany, Conrad and Dennis; Anthony and Ashton (their mother Charlene); his sisters, Harriet Amos, Marita Sinclair, Pearl Sinclair all of Fisher River; his step-sister, Louise Trescott of Ontario; his step-brother, Wesley Rundle of Alberta; his aunt Lena Murdock of Fisher River; his sisters-in-law, Mable (Emil) and Della (Brian); his brothers-in-law, Larry (Glennis), Wally (Julie), Ernest (Peggy), Dennis, Walter and Morgan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Popeye also leaves behind special friends, Louis and Shirley Stevenson of Dallas, Doonie Walker and Fran Govereau. Popeye was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Joe Sinclair; his grandparents, Addie and John R. Sinclair; his brother Harry Sinclair; and by his in-laws, Albert and Rose Sutherland. Popeye spent his last few years in Fisher River and Peguis where he enjoyed making his daily rounds by visiting and phoning his family, friends and relatives. His life never had a dull moment, he was a traveling man and met up with all kinds of trades during his life. In his younger life, he worked in the mines at Pine Point, N. W. T. For many years. Popeye then went on to become a fisherman and cook in his later years until his illness in 2002. A wake service will be held on Saturday, October 9th, 2004 at 8 :00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 10th, 2004 at 2 :00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Steven's Memorial United Church, Fisher River, Manitoba.
