BANNISTER, Harriett Elizabeth Entered into rest peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the Fairmount Home in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Lewis Bannister. Much loved mother of Marg Henshaw and her husband Gord, Frank and his wife Penny. Christine Jenkinson (née Lahey) February 06, 1953 - October 10, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) JENKINSON (Lahey), Christine - Lost her short battle with cancer on October 10, 2004. She has left behind her husband, Billy; sons, Mark (Shelly) and Matthew (Michelle); grandchildren, Logan and Brody; sisters, Jane Symes and Beth Lahey; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a devoted loyal mother and wife, who cherished her family. We will all miss her desperately. The other important people she loved who left before her were her mom, Nancy, earlier this year, her dad, "Slats" in 1997, and her grandparents. She had an absolute passion for life, people and dancing. Chris had an amazing knack for making all feel special, always seeing the good in people. She would light up a room when she entered. She loved to travel and spend time at the camp in Lake Charlotte. She graduated as a CNA from the Dartmouth Vocational School and though never worked long in that profession, helped organize the reunions of her nursing class that she loved to attend. She was a chartered member of the Lake Echo Lioness for many years and also helped to found the Orenda Canoe Club in Lake Echo. She worked most recently at CIBC on Wyse Road and spoke very fondly of the many wonderful customers she loved to serve. Chris had many treasured lifelong friends, too numerous to mention who will also miss her warmth and compassion. She kept her wonderful positive attitude, strength and sense of humour until the end and wants us all to keep smiling and living happily. WADDY , R. JEAN (COLPITTS) - 1922-2004. The death of Jean Waddy, wife of Percy B. Waddy, occurred on 8 October 2004 after a long illness. Jean was the daughter of the late Fred and Pearl (Taylor) Colpitts. She was born at her grandmother's home in Colpitts Settlement on 7 June 1922, and lived in that house on the original Colpitts grant for most of her 82 years. She received her early education at the one-room school in Colpitts and attended Mount Allison University. Jean was an astute businesswoman, a devoted wife, and a proud mother and grandmother. She had an incredibly strong connection to the Colpitts community and Albert County. Her father involved her from an early age in his fox business and she often traveled with him to Montreal to fox shows and sales. When her Uncle Jim died in 1941, her father moved the family to Calgary for 2 years to settle his estate. While in Calgary, she met Percy. They married after he returned from serving overseas as an RCAF Squadron Leader in Ceylon. Percy was the love of her life, her best friend and business partner. He showed her the world. In 1959 she and her husband took over the family farm and developed the Little River holstein herd. She was widely respected throughout the holstein community in eastern North America. Jean was very interested in genealogy and in 1983 was instrumental in organizing the 200th anniversary celebration of the arrival of the first Colpitts family to North America. The event attracted hundreds of family members from across Canada and the United States. Jean was involved in many community organizations. She was a Life Member of the Colpitts United Church Women and in 1998 was honored for 50 years of volunteering with the CNIB. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Colpitts United Church, the Albert County Food Bank, the Albert County Historical Society, the Salisbury School Board, and numerous other organizations. Jean is survived by her husband, four children (Lane, Fred, Susan and Patrick), two daughters-in-law (Cécile and Ruth-Anne) and nine grandchildren (Lisa, David, Christina, Michael, Marc-André, Julien, Christopher, Michelle and Julia). She is also survived by her uncles Fred Taylor (Monteagle) and Claude Taylor (Montreal), and numerous Colpitts and Taylor cousins. Besides her parents, her sister Lu Colpitts predeceased her. Her family thanks the caregivers, nurses, and doctors who looked after Jean during the past three years. In accordance with her wishes, Jean has been cremated and will be interred in the Waddy plot at the Colpitts Cemetery. Friends and her large extended family are invited to share memories of Jean at the family home in Colpitts Settlement from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday, 16 October (5005 Rte 895, Colpitts Settlement). Her memorial service will be held at the Colpitts United Church at 3 pm on Sunday, 17 October 2004. A reception will follow at the church. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the CNIB, the Colpitts United Church or any charity of the donor's choice. SCHOOLEY, Duncan M., Duncan Schooley passed away peacefully at Bella Senior Care Residence, in Chippawa on Sunday, October 10th, 2004, in his 94th year. Born 1911 in Ridgeway, ON, one of 6 children to twice widowed Ailsa May Schooley, proprietress o f the Merritton Post Office, instigating years of Duncan's service to the great town of Merritton. As a Charter Member of the Merritton Lion's Club and Past President, Duncan was a driving force in building the Merritton Swimming Pool (recently renam ed in his honour) and as Past President of the Red Cross he helped create a 'learn to swim' program free to all participants. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Merritton Fire Department, was a Past Master of Adanac Lodge #614 A.F. & A.M., and a member of Elm Street United Church since 1924. A skilled labourer, Duncan worked at Howsers and Clark Machines followed by 32 years at the Ontario Paper Company as a machinist and trouble shooter. Revered and respected by teammates and opponents a like as the 'skinny southpaw' with the sneaky curveball for the Merritton Senior 'A' ball team, striking out as many as 19 batters in one game. Although scouted by the majors, any thoughts of fortune and fame were easily relinquished in the company o f the beautiful girl from Thorold, Eileen Schlender. They enjoyed 59 years of wedded bliss until her passing in 2002 at which time Duncan became a resident of Shorthills in Fonthill, eventually moving to Bella Senior Care in Chippawa, for which his c hildren have only praise for their friendship, love and devoted care. Survived by his brother Will, proud children Arthur (Glenys), John (Rosemary), Joanne, Marylynn (Bob), 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all grateful for such a hardworkin g and caring patriarch. Known for his adage, "Leave the place a little better than you found it", Duncan can rest peacefully having had a long, productive and happy life. FISHER, Norm - Passed away tragically, together with his best friend Alyssa Kish, on Sunday October 10, 2004 at the age of 18. Norm was the beloved son of Debbi Fisher and Norm (Tracey) Fisher. Dearly loved grandson of Peter and Carol Warkentin, Norm and Lurrean Fisher and the late Susie Warkentin and great-grandson of George and Jean Fisher, Mildred Mann and Helen Thomson. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Alicia and Amber Fisher and his step-sisters Ashley (Andrew Blake), Amanda and Alyssa Tychynski. Sadly missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Norm had been a student at Westlane Secondary School. He was also an accomplished hockey player, having competed at the Triple A level. He had many friends who will cherish his memory. Très impliqué dans les milieux communautaire et économique de Montréal, M. DeSerres a toujours eu à coeur le bien-être de son entourage, de ses employés et de leurs familles tout au long de son existence et ce, bien au-delà de sa présidence de l'entreprise familiale Omer DeSerres. Généreux de son temps, il fut président de la Fédération des oeuvres de charité canadienne française. Sa droiture et son bon jugement en ont fait un administrateur recherché pour de nombreux conseils d'administration dont CIL, la Banque Nationale et La Presse. Il fut également président de la Chambre de commerce de Montréal et de la Chambre de commerce du Canada. MARIE ROLLINS 1945 - 2004 The family announces with great sorrow her death on Monday October 11, 2004 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 59 years. Leonard (Len) LeBlanc MEMRAMCOOK, NB - Leonard LeBlanc of College Bridge, 61, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Friday, October 8, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in College Bridge, he was the son of the late Fereol LeBlanc and Exelda Bourgeois. He worked at Via Rail for On Board Services. Len was an avid member of AA; member of BMW Motorcycle Club of Moncton; and he loved fishing, playing cards and camping. Besides his mother, he is survived by Rose-Marie (Brun) LeBlanc; one daughter, Isabelle (Patrick) LeBlanc of Dieppe; two sons, Mario LeBlanc of Dieppe and Justin (Chantal) LeBlanc of Ottawa, ON; two sisters, Jeannine (Louis) Gauvin of Moncton and Jacqueline (Yvon) Despres of Cocagne, NB; two grandchildren, Mathieu and Jeremie; and by several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Rose-Helene in 2002. Resting at Dupuis Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and Monday, October 11, 2004 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral will be held on Monday, October 11, 2004 at 11:00 am at St-Thomas de Memramcook Roman Catholic Church, St-Joseph, NB with Father Daniel Deveau officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.

R. Jean Waddy 1922 - 2004 The death of R. Jean (Colpitts) Waddy, wife of Percy B. Waddy, occurred on October 8, 2004 after a long illness. Jean was the daughter of the late Fred and Pearl (Taylor) Colpitts. She was born at her grandmother's home in Colpitts Settlement, NB, on June 7, 1922, and lived in that house on the original Colpitts grant for most of her 82 years. She received her early education at the one-room school in Colpitts and attended Mount Allison University. Jean was an astute businesswoman, a devoted wife, and a proud mother and grandmother. She had an incredibly strong connection to the Colpitts community and Albert County. Her father involved her from an early age in his fox business and she often traveled with him to Montreal to fox shows and sales. When her Uncle Jim died in 1941, her father moved the family to Calgary for 2 years to settle his estate. While in Calgary, she met Percy. They married after he returned from serving overseas as an RCAF Squadron Leader in Ceylon. Percy was the love of her life, her best friend and business partner. He showed her the world. In 1959, she and her husband took over the family farm and developed the Little River Holstein Herd. She was widely respected throughout the holstein community in eastern North America. Jean was very interested in genealogy and in 1983 was instrumental in organizing the 200th anniversary celebration of the arrival of the first Colpitts family to North America. The event attracted hundreds of family members from across Canada and the United States. Jean was involved in many community organizations. She was a Life Member of the Colpitts United Church Women and in 1998 was honored for 50 years of volunteering with the CNIB. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Colpitts United Church; the Albert County Food Bank; the Albert County Historical Society; the Salisbury School Board; and numerous other organizations. Jean is survived by her husband, Percy Waddy; four children, Lane, Fred, Susan and Patrick; two daughters-inlaw, Cécile and Ruth-Ann; and nine grandchildren, Lisa, David, Christina, Michael, Marc-André, Julien, Christopher, Michelle and Julia. She is also survived by her uncles, Fred Taylor (Monteagle) and Claude Taylor (Montreal); and numerous Colpitts and Taylor cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lu Colpitts. Her family thanks the caregivers, nurses, and doctors who looked after Jean during the past 3 years. In accordance with her wishes, Jean has been cremated and will be interred in the Waddy plot at the Colpitts Cemetery. Friends and her large extended family are invited to share memories of Jean at the family home in Colpitts Settlement from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday, October 16, 2004 (5005 Rte 895, Colpitts Settlement). Her memorial service will be held at the Colpitts United Church at 3 pm on Sunday, October 17, 2004. A reception will follow at the church. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the CNIB, the Colpitts United Church or any charity of the donor's choice. EDWARDS, Ronald William (January 3, 1929 - October 9, 2004) Ron Edwards, life long resident of Cumberland, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly in Parksville, BC. Son of the late Norman Edwards and Florence Kennedy. Predeceased by his daughter, Susan, in 1980. Luigi Capanna - January 13, 1917 - June 15, 2004 - 87, Lower Sackville, passed away June 15, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Casoli di Atri, Italy, January 13, 1917, he was a son of the late Pio and Anna Domenica (Ferretti) Capanna. He came to Canada in 1954 to start a new life for himself and his family. Before his retirement, he worked as a barber in Halifax and Lower Sackville until the age of 81. Luigi enjoyed entertaining his many friends at his house and he was well-known for his generosity and his love of gardening, cooking and wine making. Luigi will always be remembered and deeply missed by his family and many friends. Laura Gallant 1925 - 2004 SHEDIAC, NB - Laura Gallant, 78, wife of the late André Gallant, of Bellview Street, Shediac, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital. Born December 12, 1925 in Shediac, she was the daughter of the late Alphée Cormier and the late Marie-Anne Gautreau. Laura is survived by five daughters, Eveline Gallant (Gérard Gaudet) of Grande-Digue, NB, Muriel Gallant (Russell Cormier), Yvonne Gallant (Jean-Paul Ward) both of Shediac, NB, Anne Gallant of Grand-Barachois, NB, and Pauline Gallant of Moncton, NB; seven sons, Ronald (Virginia) of Pointedu-Chne, NB, Roy (Gisèle) of GrandeDigue, NB, Normand (Karen), Gerry (Charline), Hubert (Brenda), Paul and Jean, all of Shediac, NB; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, André (1994), she was also predeceased by a son, Daniel (1995); 6 sisters, Juliette Vautour, Anna McPhee, Géraldine Bourque, Yvonne Gallant, Léa Cormier, and Florence Gallant; four brothers, Edouard, Willie, Alfred, and Henri. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. Joseph Alvin Richard SAINT JOHN, NB - The death of Mr. Joseph Alvin Richard, of Saint John, NB, occurred on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in 1929 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Alfred and Josephine (Chaisson) Richard. Alvin started his working career as a Merchant Marine, worked at the Port of Saint John and Kelly's Garage and retired in 1991 from the Saint John Dry Dock as a machinist. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Marie LeGassie; his sons, Gary (Betty) of Moncton and Larry (Brenda) of Saint John; daughter, Nora Lynch (Terry) of Ontario; brothers, Clarence (Florence), Eldan (Hilda) of Ontario, James (Mary), Alfred (Sandra) and Joseph (Gail) all of Saint John; sisters, Betty Richard of Saint John, Nora Kane (Joe) of Kingston Peninsula and Yvonne Perry (Buddy) of Saint John; five grandchildren, Tanya, Jenn, Melissa, Tracey and Melanie; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was retired and he had worked as a Woodsman and Farmer. He was a member of St. John's United Church, West Branch. Survived by wife, Ruby; four daughters, Wanda Hatfield, Janice Hud (Gerald), Diane Pollard (Bill), Connie Saranchuck; three sons, John (Kim), Kevin (Jeannie), Darrin (Mary); two sisters, Betty Spencer and Jean Beers; one brother, Horace Cail; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six sisters, infant Ruby, Annie, Dorothy, Alverna, Maggie and Laura; three brothers, Arnold, Melvin and Bob. CHAPMAN, RAE E. - With his loving family around him, Rae Edgar Chapman of Wasson Court, husband of Kathleen (McLeod) Chapman, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2004, ten days prior to his 93rd birthday, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Amherst, NS, he was the son of the late Harold and Jennie (Bickerton) Chapman. Rae was employed by H.S. Heinz Co. for 34 years as district manager for New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island until his retirement in 1971. He was a faithful member of Victoria St., now Main St. Baptist Church and for 30 years a winter visitor at South Peninsula Baptist Church in Daytona Shores, Florida. Rae was one of the longest serving members of the United Commercial Travellers of Canada, having been a member for 68 years. Besides his wife Kaye, he is survived by one son, Wayne R. (Carol) Chapman Q.C. of Rothesay, NB; one daughter, Carol Ann Einarson of Ottawa; two grandsons, James and John Einarson of Ottawa; a granddaughter Chere (Gordon) Cooper of Vietnam; great grandson William Cooper of Vietnam; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by grandson Christopher Chapman, six brothers, one sister and son-in-law Richard Einarson.
