McLAUGHLIN, Sophie (Wladarski) 73 years, on Sunday, October 3, 2004. Beloved wife of 53 years to Allan. Dear mother of Larry, Richard and the late Jan (1982). Dear sister to Ann Wladarski, Walter Wladarski and the late Joe Wladarski. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sophie was the former owner of Steadman's in Belle River. Visiting Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at Melady Funeral Home, 572 Notre Dame, Belle River, 728-1500 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Mary Leard officiating. Interment St. Simon & St. Jude Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. A tree will be planted in memory of Sophie McLaughlin in the Melady Heritage Forest. GILL, Denise Louise Williamson - 32, of Kenora, Ont., formerly of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora. was born July 4, 1972 in Fort Frances. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Bernard James Hutchins in 1982; and her uncle, James Alcide (Jim) Hutchins in 1991. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Autumn; husband, Murray and parents, Roy and Judy ; and grandparents, Madeline and Ken Martin. Also left to mourn are her brother, Christopher (Lindsey) and their daughter, Emma; sister, Nicolette; mother-in-law, Lou Gill; father-in-law, Wayne (Coreen) Gill; brother-in-law, Mike and niece, Jaclyn; nephews, David and Tyson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Denise was united in marriage to Murray on Sept. 16, 1995 and they were blessed with their daughter, Autumn, in 1998. She graduated as a registered nurse from Confederation College in 1994 and continued on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lakehead University in June, 2003. Denise and Murray moved to Kenora in 2000 and together they enjoyed holidays to Jamaica, Mexico, and Cuba. She was always very active in the outdoors, enjoying camping, swimming, kayaking, and going to her parents’ cabin. She also enjoyed volunteering at Our Lady of the Valley School, where her daughter attends school. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Kenora, with Captains Val and Gloria Redner officiating. A luncheon will be held after the service in the training room at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, with complimentary parking for those who attend. A celebration of Denise’s life, with a luncheon to follow, also will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Royal Caandian Legion in Fort Frances, with Rev. Garth Clifford officiating. ANDREWS, Zita - Peacefully at her residence on Thursday, September 30, 2004. She was 81. Zita Andrews, an R.N. Graduate of St. Mary’s in Montreal, who nursed for over 40 years in the Cornwall Community as well as Quebec, Northern Canada and the Canadian Army and who continued caring for her family and friends even after her retirement, not to mention her ongoing gift of humour. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred J. Andrews and the late Jane McCulloch. She is survived by her sister Harriet Andrews. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, Yolande Robinson, Janie Lieczkiw, Donald, Michael and Lee Andrews, Mary Dunlop, Cathy Ginies and Linda Lee MacPhee. Lewis Nelson MacGregor - It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Lew on Saturday, May 22, 2004. He will be greatly missed. Lew is survived by his daughters; Eva and Carol (George), son; Michael (Marla), father; Hugh, sisters; Lila, Carol (Albert), and Brenda (Stewart), brothers; Abb (Morag), Gary (Paulette). He was predeceased by his wife; Joy, mother; Georgie, sisters; Annie Laurie, Lillas and nephew Jacy. Lew was born December 29, 1932 in O’Leary, P.E.I. He came to Winnipeg in 1954 and worked at various jobs including farming and MacArthurs Trucking. He then changed careers and became a Correctional Officer at Headingley Gaol, where he worked for 32 years until he retired at age 60. Dad treasured all his friends, many of whom he spent countless hours Talking with over coffee at Robins. His hobbies included antique cars, collecting watches, and playing cribbage. The family would like to thank all who befriended Lew, you made his life brighter. A service will be held on Friday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Avenue. Marshall, age 71, resident of Eva Lake, Atikokan, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer, in the quietness of his home, peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side. Marshall was born on February 24, 1933 and married to his wife Lou Ann Manns (nee Crandell) in June of 1951. Together they had four children. Marshall was an avid fisherman both at home in Canada and in the Gulf near their winter home in Aransas Pass, Texas. He spent many wonderful years hunting and both fur and minnow trapping. He spent twelve great years owning and operating a local tourist resort with his family. He loved to play bridge with his friends while in Texas and on the computer at home. He enjoyed playing card games with his grandchildren and he was a wonderful teacher, respected by both students and co-workers. Marshall is survived by Lou Ann, his wife of 53 years and mother of his four children; sons Marshall (Karen) of Marion Lake, Atikokan, Rob (Linda) of Eva Lake, Atikokan; daughters Paula of Thunder Bay and Karyn of Eva Lake, Atikokan; ten grandchildren; Noah, Roxanne and Crystal, Jennifer and Robert, Amanda, Nicole and Brittany, Erica and Robert; and one great-grandchild; Skylar. Also surviving him is his sister Louise (Tom). He was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Ruth Manns. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m.(CST) at the First Baptist Church, Atikokan officiated by Pastor Ken Stainthorpe. Interment at Little Falls Cemetery. WILEY, Janet Elizabeth (Jessie) RN, Peacefully at the Shaver Hospital on the afternoon of October 2, 2004, in the final days of her 96th year. Jessie was beloved wife of the late Thomas R. Wiley (1959). She will be missed by daughters Janet Wiley, S ally Whyte and her husband Doug; grandchildren Jonathan Whyte, Sarah Whyte, Robin Chiera and her husband Mario; great-grandchildren Michael and Katherine Chiera; and by nieces, nephews, and friends who were dear to her. Mary "Mollie" Ann Howard - January 29, 1909 - May 14, 2004 - born January 29, 1909, passed away peacefully on Friday, May14, 2004. Allan "Smokey" Clyde Gaetz - November 18, 1927 - May 24, 2004 - 77 yrs, Dartmouth, passed away May 24, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Cow Bay, he was a son of the late Warren Clyde and Mary (Fraser) Gaetz. He worked for S. Cunard and Company, Halifax for 32 years and drove Bob's taxi 35 years. Allan enjoyed life and always loved a good argument. Surviving are sons, Gary W. She joined the Women’s Army Corp in 1941 where she met Dan Lawton whom she married in 1943. They lived in Victoria, B.C. until 1955 when they moved to Edmonton. They maintained homes in both cities from 1987 to 2003. Many thanks to Dr. Maurice Lalonde for making her last years comfortable, the Allen Grey for their friendship and support and the staff at the Grey Nuns Hospital. Terry Marie Goldring (née Munroe) - March 31, 1947 - May 29, 2004 - GOLDRING (Munroe), Terry Marie - 57, Lower Sackville, passed away May 29, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Gerald "Russell" Munroe and the late Eva Mae Cochrane Fehr and the stepdaughter of Dorothy Jean Gillett. Born March 31, 1947, Terry was much loved by family and friends. She was a student at Queen Elizabeth High School and Halifax Vocational School. Possessed of a strong work ethic, she worked at Capitol Stores, Farmer's Dairy, Central Trust and N.P.F. at C.F.B. Stadacona. She was involved with the Sackville Minor Hockey Association and as a true "Hockey Mom", was an active supporter and tireless fundraiser. Terry lived an amazing life, being kind to all who knew her, loving family and friends unconditionally. After retirement, which she enjoyed tremendously, she spent many hours doing special things with her husband and children, parents, sisters, brothers, and many many wonderful friends, especially Hannah LeBlanc. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and sister-in-law, who loved laughter and life, living it to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. MacDONALD, DOUGLAS CHARLES - The death of Douglas C. MacDonald, 80, of Moss Glen, husband of Madeline MacDonald occurred October 1, 2004 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John. He was born at Saint John, son of the late Douglas and Jane Mary-Grant MacDonald. He was a veteran of WWII serving overseas with the General Hospital Service Corps. Douglas was Past President of Peninsula Branch 62, Royal Canadian Legion and Past District Zone Commander. He was employed at the Sugar Refinery for 32 years and the Corps of Commissionaires for five years before retirement. He is survived by his wife Madeline; one daughter Patricia Ward (Peter) of Edmonton; five sons Doug MacDonald (Lynda) of Summerville, Russell MacDonald (Nancy) of Quispamsis, David MacDonald (Fran) of Saint John, Billy MacDonald (Kym) of Saint John, Tony MacDonald of Moss Glen; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. TAIT, HARVEY WILLIAM The death of Harvey William Tait of Tay Creek, husband of the late Thelma Anita (Harvey) Tait, occurred on Saturday October 2, 2004 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley NB, at the age of 91. He was the son of the late William and Margaret (McCrea) Tait. Mr. Tait was a member of the Sterling United Church, Tay Creek, retired farmer and school bus driver for 27 years. He is survived by two daughters Joyce Forbes (John) of Miramichi City and Sandra Coughlan (Raymond) of Fredericton NB; nine grandchildren Steven, Suzanne, Connie, Don, Judy, Kim, Heather, Chris and Nancy; twelve great grandchildren, one niece, one nephew; one son in law Don Nicolle of Ottawa, On and several cousins. Harvey was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by two brothers Norman and Carl; one daughter Marlene Conway Nicolle. Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton NB on Tuesday October 5, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Murray McFarlane officiating. Burial will follow in the Sterling United Church Cemetery. LEWIS, BEATRICE C. - The death of Beatrice C. Lewis, wife of the late Clyde Lewis, occurred on October 3, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Gardiner's Creek she was the daughter of the late John R. and Alice M. (Carson) Wallace. She was a graduate of the Wilfred Academy of beauty in New York and was the proprietor of Milady's Beauty Salon in Saint John for many years. She was a charter member of the Saint John Hairdressers Association, an Elder of Black River United Church, a member of the St. Andrews Circle of Kings Daughters, a member of the Quaco Historical & Library Society, the Seaview Community Club, the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #14, the Westfield Golf and Country Club and the Union Club. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of very good friends. Her brothers Charles L., J. Roy, and William A. Wallace and her sisters Edna M. Wallace, Lillian H. Moore, Marjorie Loughery and Grace E. Stairs predeceased her. Mr. Ward worked for Diamond Construction, McKay's Building Supplies, attended the Ludlow United Baptist Church, was a member of Landmark Lodge #51, Shriners, Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Scotland and Hillcrest Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by two sisters Christina MacRae (Roy) of Blackville and Diane Brennan (Ed) of Blissfield; one brother Richard Ward (Sabra) of New Maryland; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Darrell and Allison; two sisters Thelma Christie and Joyce Parker.
