LAROSE (née Dugas), Jeannette 1918 - 2004 À l'Hôtel-Dieu du CHUM, le 24 septembre 2004, à l'âge de 85 ans, est décédée Jeannette Larose, épouse de Lucien Larose (décédé en 1986) et de Thomas Robert Butler (décédé en 1944). Elle laisse dans le deuil son fils Robert (sa femme Cécile et leurs enfants Élizabeth et Martin), ses filles Camille (et sa fille Charlotte), Renée (son époux Bob et leurs enfants Patrick et Tammy) et Sylvie (son conjoint Normand et leur fils Matthieu). Maman laisse aussi pour le regretter huit arrière-petits-enfants, sa soeur Odette, son frère Jean-Paul, de nombreux neveux et nièces, amis et connaissances. Des dons à la Fondation du CHUM ou à des organismes s'occupant de recherches sur le cancer sont préférés aux fleurs. Born in Lima, Peru, he was a son of Cesar and Victoria. He left Peru to join the U.S. Air Force. In 1974, he moved to Nova Scotia where he coached soccer and in 1979 founded Barrios Concrete Ornaments Ltd. He is survived by son, Roberto, Bedford; daughters, Nina Barrios-Simms (Ranald), Lower Sackville; Helen Barrios (Mike), Bedford; Beverley Richardson (Mike), Sackville; grandchildren, Riley, Samantha and Ryan Simms, Logan and Jenna Richardson; brother, Cesar (Angela), Peru; sister, Gladys Buermans, Ottawa; cousin, Nelly Farcic, Bedford. Fred will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Arthur Edward Collicutt January 07, 1925 - October 01, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) COLLICUTT, Arthur Edward - 79, Dartmouth, died October 1, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Percy Aubrey and Gertrude Louise (Haughn) Collicutt. He was educated at Tower Road School and Halifax County Academy. He served in the RCAF during the Second World War. He was employed by Trans Canada Air Lines/Air Canada as a radio operator for 32 years, after which he worked for Rosedale Nurseries. He was active in all branches of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, having served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge, Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment and Department Commander of the Department Council, Patriarchs Militant. He represented his Grand Lodge at Sovereign Grand Lodge in 1983 and 1984, and in 1989 and 1999, he represented his Grand Encampment at Sovereign Grand Lodge. He was a member of Granite Lodge No. 158, Halifax Encampment No. 3, Canton Halifax No. 1 and Mizpah Rebekah Lodge No. 5. He was an associate member of Ivy Lodge No. 35, Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 7 and Topaz Rebekah Lodge No. 125. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Martin; son, Wayne (Martha); daughter, Sharon Ryman (Dan); sisters, Margaret Collicutt, Vera Linihan, and Geraldine Moore; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by her brother, Donald. The body has been cremated. JONES, MARGARET GERTRUDE - The death of Margaret Jones occurred on October 1, 2004, at the Loch Lomond Villa, formerly of Harmony Drive Saint John, NB. She was the wife of the late Edward Jones, and daughter of the late William and Lena (Cyr) Hunt. Margaret worked at the General Hospital and then as a homemaker until her retirement. She was a member of the United Church Quilters, and Mission Church (St. John the Baptist, St. Clements) Altar Guild. Margaret is survived by two daughters Annabell (Richard) Tobias of Rothesay, NB and Suzanna (Eugene) Carlson of Saint John, NB; son Edward Jones of British Columbia; sister Rita Wilkie of Saint John, NB; nine grandchildren Dorothy, Derek, Daphne, April, Jesse Paul, Diane, Georgia, Carla and Crystal; twelve great grandchildren Matthew, Kaitlyn, James, Kristen, Rebecca, Nicole, Zane, Dominique, Tyler, Devin, Danielle and Dariene; along with her loving dog the Cairn Terrier named Jack. Eva LeBlanc 1911-2004 Haute-Aboujagane, NB- Eva LeBlanc, 93 ans, épouse de feu Aubin LeBlanc de Haute-Aboujagane s'est éteint paisiblement entourée de sa famille le jeudi 30 septembre 2004 à l'Hpital régional Dr. Georges-L. Dumont de Moncton. Née à Fitchburg, Mass., le 18 avril 1911, elle était fille de feu André Léger et de feu Célina Richard. Elle était une enseignante à la retraite et un membre du club d'~ge d'or de Haute- Aboujagane. Eva laisse dans le deuil sa famille qui l'aimait, sept filles: Claudette Gallant (Louis) de Beresford, Jeannita Vezeau (René) de Montréal, QC., Georgette Hébert (Hector), Gisèle Gautreau (Paul), Louise LeBlanc (Zoel) et Norma LeBlanc (Paul-Émile) tous de HauteAboujagane, Linda Poirier (Roger) de Ottawa, ON.; quatre fils: Léo de Shédiac, Gérald (Edna) et Maurice tous de Haute-Aboujagane, Francis (Roselda) de Dieppe; une soeur, Aurore LeBlanc de Dieppe, dix-sept petits-enfants et dix-sept arrières-petits-enfants. Mrs. Ardis Yvonne Hafso (née Liden) November 04, 1932 - October 01, 2004 Funeral arrangements by South Side Memorial Chapel Ardis Yvonne (Liden) Hafso, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on October 1, 2004. Ardis will remain forever in the hearts of husband Gordon, children Marc, Kyrsten and Scott, daughter-in-law Judy, son-in-law Greg, and grandchildren Kyrsten, Kris, Sebastjohn, Abra, Siri and Lise. Ardis was born and raised in Holden, AB, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1954. For twenty-two years, Ardis and her family resided in North Hollywood, CA, before returning to Alberta in 1976. An outstanding educator and administrator, Ardis retired from the Edmonton Public School Board in 1999. In retirement, she mentored student teachers for Concordia University College. She will be remembered as a gifted singer, a loyal and generous friend who treated all with her customary love, care and respect. A celebration of Ardis’ life will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Edmonton (10815 – 76 Avenue). John "Jack" Thomas McDonald February 05, 1921 - September 29, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with deep sadness the family of Jack McDonald announce his peaceful passing on September 29, 2004 at Oakview Place. He is survived by his sons, Patrick (Peggy), Kerry (Jane); and daughter, Joanne (Ed). Dad will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Michael, Lyndon and Ainsley. Also left to mourn are his sister, Mary Hyde (Dan); sister-in-law, Trudy McDonald; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was born in Winnipeg on February 5, 1921. In 1941, Dad joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. TOWLE, FREDA STEPHENSON - of Hampden, Maine, passed on after a brief illness. She was born in 1923 at Florenceville, New Brunswick, the daughter of Rex and Agnes Stephenson. Freda graduated from Florenceville Superior School in 1942 and worked for several years for New Brunswick Telephone Company. She met and married Maurice Towle in 1948 and raised her five children in Easton, Maine on the family's potato farm. Upon her husband's retirement, they located to Hampden, Maine to be closer to her children. She worked for ten years in the Bangor Schools Food Service Department where she loved seeing the teenagers. She was a member of Good Will chapter No. 85 in Fort Fairfield and was a member of the Easton Methodist Church. Freda had a wonderful zest for life, touching everyone she met with her unselfish love. She loved to dress up and loved to travel, recently attending a reunion with her sisters. She was a great cook, always contributing to family occasions. She was a wonderful mom to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her gentle, loving nature will be greatly missed by many. She was the most wonderful wife a man could have, a very caring woman. She was predeceased by her brother Fraser Stephenson, sister Audrey Crabbe, son-in-law Arsalan Bayat, and grandson Michael Towle. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Maurice; by three sisters, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her daughter Nancy Coffey, husband Dan Coffey, their son, Daniel Coffey of Holden and daughter Kristen Canders, husband John Canders of Brewer; her son Earl of Fryeburg and son Martin of Kansas City; her daughter Penny Hawkins, husband Brian Hawkins of Winslow, children Angela Manzer, husband Dean Manzer of Anson, and Amber Hawkins of Winslow, fiancé Thomas Whitaker of Manchester, England; Scott Towle, wife Kathie and son Christopher of Brewer; and daughter Gerry Dawn Bayat of Winslow; great grandchildren Mickaela, Dean, Lily, Elizabeth, and Caleb; sisters, Annie Simonds of Royalton, N.B., Maribelle Jennings of St. John, N.B., Joycelyn Kokke of Lathrop, Michigan, sister-in-law Eldine Stephenson of Florenceville, N.B.; and special friends Mary McKay and Eunice Rescott. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to Easton Methodist Church, Easton, Maine. A celebration of Freda's life will be held on October 16th at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Open Door in Hampden, Maine. Burial will be in the family lot in Florenceville, New Brunswick on October 24th.

1920 - 2004 Frère Laurent Rioux, de la communauté des Frères des Écoles Chrétiennes, est décédé à Sainte-Foy, le 30 septembre 2004, à l’âge de 84 ans et 2 mois. Fils de feu monsieur Edmond Rioux et de feu dame Eugénie Lebel. Il naquit à St-Arsène (Rivière-du-Loup), le 2 juillet 1920. Entré chez les F.É.C. en 1937, il se dévoua à l’éducation des jeunes à Trois-Rivières et Québec (Sacré-Cœur et Académie), et surtout, pendant 45 ans, au Cameroun et au Bénin. Il était retraité à Sainte-Foy depuis 1996. François Picard et de dame Evangéline Chénard. Il a fait ses études classiques au Collège de Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière et ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire de Québec. Est ordonné prêtre à la basilique de Québec le 11 juin 1938, par le cardinal J.M. Rodrigue Villeneuve. En 1938, il est nommé prêtre auxiliaire au Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. De 1953 à 1956, vicaire à St-Ludger, Rivière-du-Loup. En 1956, desservant à Tourville, puis curé de Ste-Euphémie jusqu’en 1962. De 1962 à 1979, curé à St-Bruno de Kamouraska. McDONALD, James Frederick (Fred), Ph. D. At Windsor Western Hospital, Wednesday, September 29, 2004, just three days after his 65th birthday and after having waged a long battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Irene. Dear brother-in-law of Kathryn, Theodorou, and John Mehelas. Lifelong friend of Don Smith. Fred received his Ph.D. degree in Physics from Wayne State University in 1967 and served as a very influential member in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Windsor from it's early developmental period. He authored many research articles in mathematical physics and applied mathematics. His strong background in these areas made him an outstanding colleague and a valued teacher over his 37 year career. "Fearless Fred" enjoyed a lifetime of involvement in sports and became an avid golfer. His many golf trips with friends on both sides of the border became a focal point of social enjoyment. He will be greatly missed by his family, his students, his colleagues and his many friends. MACKIEWICZ, Marian. 1927-2004. In Montreal on October 1, 2004 at the age of seventy-seven years, passed away Marian Mackiewicz, beloved husband of Irena Kropa. Cherished father of Elizabeth (Allen Sroka), Richard (Louise Rudnicki), Grace (Douglas Thompson) and Julia (Andre Sokalski). Adored Dziadziu of Wally, Kalena, Teddy, Timmy, Amelia, Emily and Liam. Also survived and deeply missed by his sister Kazia, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephew, nieces and many other relatives and friends in England, Poland, New Zealand and Canada. Marian graduated from Cromwell Academy, was a member of the British Airforce and of the Polish Veterans Association. Family will receive condolences at: 7200 Newman Blvd., Lasalle Sunday October 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday October 4 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rosary on Monday night October 4 at 8 p.m. A memorial will be held Tuesday October 5 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1660 Center, followed by interment at Cote des Neiges Cemetery.
