Mr. Donald William Quinlan October 19, 1919 - August 17, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Gordon F Tompkins Funeral Homes (Township Chapel) ( World War 11 Veteran: RAF 1940-1945, Fighter Pilot and Warrant Officer) Peacefully, at the Kingston General Hospital, on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, in his 85th year, Donald Quinlan of Kingston (formerly of Brampton, Ont., Ottawa and Grand Falls, Nfld.) Retired Civil Engineer with the Federal Department of Public Works (33 years). Beloved husband for 53 years of the late Bernice Quinlan (nee Gale), who died on April 24, 2004. Loving and devoted father of Joan Biddulph (Fred) of Saskatoon, Sask., Katherine (Larry Keech) of Moscow, Ont., John (Kathy Muldoon) of Oakville, Ont. and Donald Jr. (Marnie Janoschak) of Mississauga, Ont. Sadly missed by his grandchildren: Brendan, Shauna, Michelle and Karen Biddulph, Ryan and Elizabeth Quinlan-Keech, and Kelly and Kevin Quinlan. Cherished brother of Patricia Hawkins (Wes) of Kentville, N.S. Fondly remembered by his nieces: Dr. Kathleen Landymore-Covert of Halifax and Patricia Jones (Ken) of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Catherine Quinlan (nee McKeagan), and by his brothers, Dr. John Quinlan (Dr. Helen Holden) and Edmund Quinlan (Helen Downie), and his sister, Eileen Quinlan. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William and Jean (Penton) Kingsley. Connie was employed for many years in the retail business. She worked with Fields Ltd., Halifax and Klines Ltd., Bedford. She was a manager for 15 years with Next Two You. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by daughters, Rona (Keith) Wile, Mount Uniacke; Leeann (Terry) Lawrence, Vancouver, B.C.; Deena (Ross) Taylor, Halifax; son, Glenn, Edmonton, Alta.; grandchildren, Stephanie, Rayna, Brett, Courtney, Brent, Taylor and Mitchell; great-grandchild, Nevaeh. SOMERTON, CECIL WILFRED The passing of Cecil Wilfred Somerton, of Oromocto West, NB, occurred August 16, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Cecil was born on June 1, 1932 in Portugal Cove, NL to the late Edgar and Moria (Resse) Somerton and was the beloved husband of Mary Geraldine (Terrence) Somerton. Cecil served as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces from 1955 to 1982. Throughout his 27 years of service, Cecil had the distinction of serving with the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment of Canada) and the Royal Canadian Regiment. Cecil, a qualified paratrooper, achieved the rank of sergeant and participated in three United Nations peacekeeping tours of Cyprus. Cecil left Newfoundland in 1955, but never forgot his island heritage and always maintained his unique sense of Newfie humor. Cecil will be remembered with much love and affection by his family and friends. Cecil is survived by his beloved wife Mary Geraldine Somerton of Oromocto West, NB; two sons, Cecil of Aylmer, PQ and David of Peace River, AB; three daughters, Deborah of New Mills, NB, Gail of Aylmer, PQ and Donna of Oromocto West, NB, and their spouses; four grandchildren Jason, Sean, Candase, and Andrew; two brothers, Hubert and Kevin; three sisters, Ella, Elizabeth, and Rita and their spouses. His parents, and two sisters Margaret and Dorothy Somerton predeceased Cecil. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, and NB on Thursday August 19, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be Friday August 20, 2004 at 2:00 pm from St. John's Anglican Church in Oromocto, NB with the interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Keith Howlett will officiate. PARLEE, LLOYD B. - On August 16, 2004, Lloyd Bruce Parlee of Sussex, NB went home to heaven from Misercordia Hospital in Edmonton Alberta. He was born at Wards Creek NB in 1940, a son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Adair) Parlee. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marika (Korosztos) Parlee. Lloyd is also survived by his children Stephen Parlee and wife Karen of St. Thomas Ontario, Darren Parlee and wife Beth of Moncton, Jason Parlee and wife Antonella of Windsor Ontario, Sharica Rodgers and husband Michael of Kitchener Ontario and Lloyd Jr. of Sussex, and his five grandchildren: Stephen, Adam, Michael, Katie, and Emily Parlee; brothers Jerry (Beverly) Parlee of Riverview, Carl (Debbie) of Spruce Grove Alberta, sisters Cathy (Bill) McFarland of Riverview, Judy (Louis) LeBlanc of Moncton, Cindy (Danny) McQuinn of Penobsquis, sister in law Mary Parlee of Riverview as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. John F.A. Edna was born in Winnipeg on May 24, 1914, and married George on June 18, 1938. She leaves her daughter Coreen (Gerry) of Vancouver, B.C. and their 4 children Mark (Karen) who have 5 children, Greg (Bridget) who have 4 children, Colleen (Doug) who have 3 children, and Blair (Margot) who have 2 children; her son Lorne (Debbie) of Winnipeg and their 2 children Denise who has 3 children, and Kurt (Lisa) who have 2 children; and her daughter Elaine (Joe) of Paris, Illinois, U.S.A. and their 3 children Blake (Melissa), Nicole (Jason) and Kirk. Edna and George have a total of 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings Pat Ramsey, Marge Gilman and Harold Ramsey. Edna was employed by Eaton’s Department Store for 3 years, after which she worked at Giftwares and Jewelry Distributors for 31 years with her sister Marge. Edna enjoyed a very active and healthy life. She and George did a lot of traveling, the highlights of which included two trips to Hawaii, two cruises, and the many visits to their daughters’ homes. Her life journey took her to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia where she resided for 28 years, and she retired from Transport Canada with 23 years service. For the last four years Shirley enjoyed living in Oshawa where she and her sister took an active role in the North Oshawa Lioness Club and the U.C.W. Throughout her life Shirley participated in her community making crafts, organizing community events and serving meals. More recently and in order to be nearer her daughter, Shirley moved to Ottawa, Ontario. Hearst resident Fleurette Brien, 69, died Aug. 12, 2004 at Notre-Dame Hospital. Born May 4, 1935 in Lac-Ste-Therese, she was described by family as a courageous person. A member of the Filles d'Isabelle/Daughters of Isabella, she enjoyed crosswords and puzzles, and watching her sons play hockey. She leaves her former husband Claude Guerin of Hearst, her mother Simone of Montreal, daughters Linda (Alain D'Auteuil) Guerin of Trois-Pistoles, Que., and sons Jean-Pierre (Chantal) of Longlac, Rejean (Estelle) of Thunder Bay, and Mario and Patrick Guerin, both of Hearst. Also surviving are her sisters Aline (Richard) Gosselin of Montreal and Marguerite (Denis) Belair of Ville de Lorraine, a brother Serge Brien of Montreal, and granddaughter Pascale and grandson Maxime. RHEAULT, Donat Joseph - The memorial service for longtime Hearst resident Donat Joseph Rheault, 83, of Hwy 583 North was held Aug. 14, 2004. He died Aug. 10 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a lengthy bout with cancer. Born Oct. 31, 1920 in Lavigne, Ont., he came to the Hearst area in the late 1920s. Joining the Algonquin Regiment in 1943 in Toronto, he was stationed in Quebec, England, France, and eventually Germany through November 1945. After the war, he worked in the bush, drove taxis and then trucks, and operated cranes for Selin Forest Prod. at Nassau Lake before going into the sand and gravel business until the mid-1980s. He built the rural residential stone house that stands east of the Hearst Golf Club along Hwy 583. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Branch 173 Hearst Legion, Club soleil des anne-e-s seniors club, and the Algonquin Regiment, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, giving dance courses, doing handyman projects in his garage, travelling throughout the U.S., and wintering in Texas. He leaves his wife Rolande (nee St-Louis) Rheault, daughters Joanne (Germain) Forgues, Carole (Robert) Shoppoff, Suzanne (Denis) Seguin, Marlene (Kevan Roeters) Rheault, and sons Ernest (Melanie), Guy (Suzanne), Donat, Paul, and Marcel (Mireille Morin) Rheault, all of Hearst. Also surviving are his sister Marie-Ange Trudel of Hearst, 20 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Cremation was held at Hillcrest Crematorium. Rev. Albert Lauzon 1930-2004 The family announces with sorrow his death at home on Monday August 16, 2004 at the age of 73 years. LEONTY, George Passed away Tuesday August 17, 2004 at Hotel Dieu Hospital at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (August 2002). Beloved son of the late Onefrei and Domnica.
