DEVILLEZ, Anita Constance - Bridgetown, passed away Monday, March 1, 2004, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 78. Born in Birch Cove, she was a daughter of the late Omer and Victorine Devillez. Anita attended Bridgetown schools, graduating in 1944. She joined the Canadian Army serving until 1946. For many years she worked in Toronto for the NDP Party of Ontario, after retirement in 1985 she returned to live in Bridgetown. She is survived by brother, Raymond; sister-in-law, Muriel; dear aunt to Victoria and Raymond. She was predeceased by her sister, Juana. Special thanks to Janice Lawrence, Betty Rafuse and Earle and Marilyn Hardy, and to the caring staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton and Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. FRADETTE, John L. - At Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, Waterloo on Sunday, February 29, 2004 in his 82nd year. John drifted off to join his wife of 56 years; Carmen Perron Fradette (1998). Loving dad of Corinne Fournier (Andy) of Baden and Marc Fradette (Marilyn) of London. Sadly missed by grandchildren Richard Fournier (Susanne) of Ottawa, Raymond Fournier (Leanne) of Montreal, Aaron Fradette in Japan, Chantal Fradette of Waterloo, Devon Merritt (Roy) of Sarnia and Rachel LeClair of London. Proud Great Grandfather of Christopher, Chelsea, Adrianna and Kayla. A caring family man, John also reunites with his parents, Omer and Georgianna, as youngest of 5 sisters and 4 brothers. A WWII veteran, John was also active in Welland Knights of Columbus, Council 2146 and was the owner of John Fradette Plumbing and Heating, a 40 year Welland landmark. Known as 'Honest John', his kindness to others will be remembered by many. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive their friends at J. J. PLOURDE EVA - Des funérailles ont eu lieu le 28 février 2004 pour Eva Plourde de Kapsukasing, décédée le 24 février au Foyer Externdicare Nursing Home de Kapuskasing à l'âge de 85 ans. Née le 2 octobre 1918 à Ville-Marie au Québec, elle a été membre des Filles d'Isabelle. Elle aimait jardiner, boulanger et nourrir les oiseaux. Quand elle était plus jeune, elle adorait jouer aux quilles, tricoter et coudre pour les Auxiliaires de l'hôpital. Elle aimait également le camping et passer du temps à l'extérieur. Elle fut précédée dans la mort par son époux Jean et un frère : Georges. Elle laisse dans le deuil une fille : Huguette Lockwood (David) de Woodstock; deux fils : Gilles (Helen) et Michel (Brenda), tous deux de Kapuskasing; deux soeurs : Jeanne D'Arc Brouillard et Cécile Lécuyer, toutes deux de Montréal; deux frères : Jean et Maurice Lefebvre, tous deux de Ville-Marie; ainsi que sept petits-enfants : Rachelle, Cynthia, Sharleen, Steven, Erik, Micah et Angèle, ainsi que six arrière-petits-enfants. C'est le père Giles Gosselin qui a conduit le service funèbre. Mrs. Plourde was born on Oct. 2, 1918 in Ville Marie, Quebec. She worked as a housewife. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and enjoyed gardening, baking and feeding the birds. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, knitting and sewing for the hospital auxiliary, camping and the outdoors. Mrs. Plourde was predeceased by husband Jean and brother Georges. She is survived by daughter Hugeuette (David) Lockwood of Woodstock, and sons Gilles (Helene) and Michel (Brenda), all of Kap. Also surviving are sisters Jeanne D’Arc Broulliard and Cécile Lecuyer of Montreal, brothers Jean and Maurice Lefebvre of Ville Marie, grandchildren Rachel, Cynthia, Sharleen, Steven, Erik, Micah and Angèle and six great grandchildren. Fr. Gilles Gosselin officiated at the funeral service on Feb. 28, 2004 at Immaculée Conception Church. Mrs. Plourde will be interred at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.

OWENS, Florence of White Rock died on Saturday, February 28th, 2004. Born November 23rd, 1927 in Victoria, B.C. Eldest daughter of Jack and Rose McGeorge. Predeceased by her parents, sister Rosemary, husbands Lou Cote and Roy Opp, and daughter Louise Fenwick. Survived by brother Jack (Irene), sister Joyce (Bob Kite), daughter Carol (Bob O'Connor), sons Don Schofield (Suzie), John Cody (Karen) and Mike Cote (Val). Ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Florence was a very grateful member of A.A. with 47 years continuous sobriety. Her greatest joy was introducing newcomers to a new way of life. She had a wealth of experience in her journey, some tragic, many joyous. She was secretary of new committees as they evolved during her early years in A.A. She loved to laugh, and loved to tell of her many faux pas (Rule 62). Florence felt one of her greatest gifts was the ability to see the humour in life. She touched many people, and felt humble and blessed, and often wondered how she got so lucky. No funeral by request. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 1480 George Street, White Rock. OUIMETTE NOËL - Des funérailles ont eu lieu le 1er mars 2004 pour Noël Ouimette de Kapuskasing, décédé le 26 février à l'Hôpital Sensenbrenner de Kapuskasing à l'âge de 74 ans. Né à Val Rita le 12 décembre 1929, il a travaillé dans le domaine des pâtes et papier. Il était membre honoraire des Chevaliers de Colomb. Il aimait la pêche, la chasse, regarder le hockey et il était aussi bénévole pour la paroisse Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. Il fut précédé dans la mort par ses parents Aimé et Blanche Ouimette, ainsi que par deux frères : Ernest et Marcel. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Antoinette; quatre fils : Marcel (Jeannine Carrière), Daniel (Carole), Claude et Roland (Diane), tous de Kapuskasing; Rollande Cloutier (Robert) de Mattawa,; trois frères : René de Val Rita, Jean-Paul de Val Rita et Léo de Kapuskasing; une soeur : Yvonne Rodrigue de Kapuskasing; 14 petits-enfants et trois arrière-petits-enfants. C'est le père Robert Tremblay qui a conduit le service funèbre. La famille apprécierait des dons à la Fondation canadienne des maladies du coeur.Noël Ouimette, 8 Brunelle Rd. North, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Feb. 26, 2004. He was 74 years old. Mr. Ouimette was born on Dec. 12, 1929 in Val Rita. He worked as an operator for Spruce Falls. He was an honourary member of the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer with Notre Dame des Victoires Parish. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching hockey. Mr. Ouimette was predeceased by his parents Aimé and Blanche and brothers Ernest and Marcel. He is survived by his wife Antoinette, sons Marcel (Jeannine Carrière), Daniel (Carole), Claude, and Roland (Diane), all of Kap and daughter Rollande (Robert) Cloutier of Mattawa. Also surviving are brothers René and Jean-Paul of Val Rita and Léo of Kap, sister Yvonne Rodrigue of Kap, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Fr. Robert Tremblay officiated at the funeral service on Mar. 1, 2004 at Notre Dame des Victoires Church. Mr. Ouimette will be interred at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.

THIBAULT, Walter Raymond "Ray" - Passed away peacefully Monday, March 1, 2004, in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, with his two daughters by his side. Born in Digby, June 16, 1929, Ray was a son of the late Frederick James and Viola Maude (Winchester) Thibault. He was employed by Roseway Hospital until he retired in 1994. He was an avid bowler for many years, a retired volunteer fireman and he was one of the men responsible for the start of Mutual Aid for Fire Departments in Digby County in the 1950s and 60s. He is survived by sister, Flo, Jacksonsville, Fla.; daughters, Melana (Troy), Shelburne; Alison (Charles), Clam Point, Cape Sable Island; grandchildren, Erin and Taylor. He was predeceased by brother, Ted; sister, Fran. He will be greatly missed by family and friends known to many as "grumpy" or "baldy". Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Mr. William R.S. (Bep) Loggie 1910-2004 Miramichi, N.B. - Mr. William R.S. (Bep) Loggie, of King Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday, March 1, 2004, at the age of 93. Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late Dr. W.S. and Mabel G. (Gould) Loggie. He was a former employee of both the Bank of Nova Scotia as well as his family business, W.S. Loggie Co. Ltd. He was a member of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi and a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Canadian Army, Signal Corps. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Lally (Frank), of London, Ont.; one son, David Loggie (Marjorie), of Summerside, P.E.I.; one daughter-inlaw, Colleen Loggie, of Ottawa, Ont.; three stepsons, Gregg Kelly and his wife, Elizabeth, of Miramichi, Charles Kelly, of Halifax and Eric Kelly (Kelly), of Moncton; one stepdaughter, Carolyn MacDonald (Greg), of Lower Sackville, N.S.; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; as well as several nieces & nephews. ARMSTRONG, FLORENCE (HENNY) The passing of Henny Armstrong occurred at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on March 1, 2004. She was employed for many years with Sears Canada in Fredericton, attended the United Church of Canada and was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15 (Marysville). Her family and friends will always remember her as a proudly independent woman, whose generous caring heart extended to not only family but to friends as well. KILBURN, NANCY PEARL 1941-2004 Nancy Pearl Kilburn has passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB on March 1 after a long, courageous, determined fight against environmental illness and cancer. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick, trained as a teacher, taught school, traveled the world and then decided to go back to school. She graduated from the New York School of Interior Design in 1969 and came home to go into the family business, R.L. Kilburn Ltd. She completely immersed herself in her business and developed many friendships over the years. She was a member of the Canadian Interior Designers Association, a member and Past President of the UNB Alumni Association and past member of the UNB Board of Governors. She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Celestial Chapter #3, serving in many offices. She was a loving daughter to her parents Robin Long Kilburn and Florence Nina (Hood) Kilburn and looked after both in their final years. She was loved and much admired by siblings; Sandra Dubrule (David), George Kilburn (Patricia), Glen Kilburn (Barbara), Clark Kilburn (Bonnie) and Chris Kilburn (Geraldine). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. FYLYPCHUK, Petro. Passed away on February 28, with his loving family at his side after a lengthy and courageous battle with a blood infection. He was born on August 11, 1920 in the village of Pozarky, Volyn Ukraine to Roman and Alexandra. After a brief stay in England (1948), he arrived in Montreal, Quebec in 1951 where he lived until 2002. He then moved to Coquitlam, B.C. to live with his only child Roman and daughter-in-law Maryann. He is predeceased by his loving wife Maria Kuzel, and brother Ivan (Ukraine). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, two sisters Xenia and Nadia, their children and numerous other relatives and friends. He was an extremely spiritual and nationalist man serving as president of St. Sophie's Cathedral in Montreal and belonged to various associations and choirs.
