Beloved wife of the late John C. Poirier. Loving mother of Patricia (Frank) Garrity of Des Moines, Iowa, Sylvia (Errol Andrews) of Stanley Bridge, Mary (Gary) Wilson of Los Angeles, Calif. Also lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Michael Garrity, Kathryn Hughes, Kelly Reynoldson, Christopher Garrity, Mary Beth Mulligan and Kristine Poirier, two step-grandchildren, Susan Andrews and Wayne Andrews, along with her two great-grandchildren, four step- great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. MELANSON, Lawrence Reginald - 80, Halifax, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2004, in Northwood Centre. Born in Halifax on February 11, 1924, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Kathleen (Murphy) Melanson. Lawrence was a kind, determined man who took pride in all that he did while living with the challenge of cerebral palsy and cancer. He enjoyed a conversation about workhorses, and a friendly game of cards. He felt honoured when in his earlier years he received a special service award from the Department of Recreation. His family and many friends, especially those on 3 Centre Northwood, will miss him dearly. A devoted Catholic, Lawrence derived strength from his faith. He is survived by brothers, John, Charlie (Louise); sisters, Doris McCartney, Margaret Briggs (Bob) and Mary Cookson (Jim), all of Halifax; many special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Frederick in infancy. By request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 26, at 12 noon in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Russell Street, Halifax, Father Lorne T. MacDonald to celebrate. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. THERIAULT, Benoit J. - 84, formerly of Comeauville, passed away February 12, 2004, in Filosa Nursing Home, Danbury, Conn. Born in Comeauville, he was a son of the late Simeon and Therese (Comeau) Theriault. He graduated from the Teacher's College in Truro and the Nova Scotia School of Nursing, Dartmouth. He moved to Newtown, Conn., and was employed with Fairfield State Hospital, Newtown, for many years. He is survived by brother, Normand, Comeauville; sisters, Sister Agnes Theriault, Arichat; Therese Theriault, Comeauville; Anita Theriault, Digby. He was predeceased by brother, Elie; a sister in infancy. Funeral mass was held February 16, in St. Rose De Lima Church, Newtown, Conn. Interment took place in the parish cemetery.

BENOIT, Mary (nee Brownlee) In loving memory of Mary Benoit, 71 years of Levack, who passed away Sunday afternoon, February 22nd, 2004 at the Extendicare-York, Sudbury. She was born in Montreal, Quebec and married Ronald Benoit in 1952 in Levack. Mary came to Levack in 1950 from Montreal. A devout Roman Catholic, she attended St. Bartholomew's Church and she was a member of the parish CWL. An outgoing person, Mary was an avid walker and an accomplished knitter whose creations are treasured by family and friends. She will be remembered as a very generous person who was devoted to her loving family. Beloved wife of Ronald Benoit of Levack. Loving mother of Ricky predeceased, Sally (husband Felix Morissette Sr.) of Levack and Harold (partner Debbie) of Cartier. Cherished grandmother of Felix Jr. (wife April), Travis and Jessica. GODIN, MRS. CONNIE (MURCHIE) - Mrs. Connie Godin (Murchie), wife of Ken Godin, of Lorne, N.B. passed away Thursday February 19, 2004 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 60. A native of Doyleville, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Agnes (Lapointe) Murchie. She was a homemaker, extremely active in her community and as a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish she participated in all the church activities. She was a 25 year volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. She will always be remembered for her rendition of "These Boots Were Made For Walking." She is survived by her husband Ken of Lorne, two daughters Debbie McKinley (James) Ottawa, Lisa Kane (Danny) Miramichi, three sons Bryan of Florida, Marc (Cindy) Barrie Ont., and Dannie of Fredericton. She also was survived by 11 Grandchildren, two sisters Cora Murchie of Doyleville, Valerie Hickey of Nash Creek and one brother Ray Murchie (Mary Stella) of Doyleville. She was predeceased by an infant sister Dawn and an infant brother Donald. Her funeral service was held Monday, February 23, 2004 at 11am. from the St. Maria Gordetti Church with Father Comeau officiating. Visitation was held at the Lorne Funeral Parlour. Pallbearers were Ray Godin, Leigh Murchie, David Lapointe, Ben Doucet, Maurice Godin, and Desmond Godin. Honorary Pallbearers were her Belles Soeurs- Antoinette Godin, Adeline Lapointe, Simmone Rosengren, Sheila Doucet, Adrienne Fradet, Rhonda Godin. Her sister in law Lisa Godin sang "How Great Thou Art." Her granddaughter Candace Martin gave the Eulogy and her sister in law Simmone Rosengren read a poem "Your dash: and How You Live It." DAUNAIS, George Nicholas "Nick" of Langley, B.C. passed away at Grand Street Lodge in Mission, B.C. on February 18th, 2004. Born January 7th, 1922 in Battleford, Sask. ROY, Vanentuce "Vince" 1918-2004 The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Monday, February 23, 2004 at the age of 85 years. Loving husband of the late Mary Aileen Roy (nee Maher) in 1967 and Irene Potvin Roy (nee Robert) of Timmins. Dear father of Catherine Hide (husband Fred) of Ottawa, Ruth Anne Roy, Helen Barrette (husband Robert), Robert Roy, Dale Roy and Daniel Roy (wife Mary Emma) all of Timmins. Grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well as one on the way. Brother of Harvey Roy (wife Julie) of Toronto, Yolande Waters (husband Jack) of Windsor and Lorette Daly of Penetanguishene. Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ambroise and Marie-Louise Roy, his brother Lucien Roy, his sister Agathe Martin as well as his granddaughter Roxanne in 1978. Vince was a longtime employee with Ontario Hydro. He raised his young family in a corner store located in the Hollinger townsite called "Roy's Townsite Store". He met his wife Irene in Sudbury, they were married in Timmins in 1969 and they lived in Sudbury for about 8 years time. After that Vince and Irene spent their winters in Florida and their summers at Ivanhoe Lake and then they returned to Timmins to live in 1998. Vince was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and received his 50 year pin 8 years ago for a total of 58 years of membership. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2004 from Nativity of Our Lord Parish. Cremation will follow. KIRK, Jessie, Died in the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2004 at The Loyalist in her 98th year. Born in Scotland, she was the last surviving child of 12 children of Henry Coull and Anne Grant Coull. WRIGHT, BARNEY FREDERICK Barney Frederick Wright of Woodstock, New Brunswick, passed away at the Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock on Sunday, February 22, 2004, at the age of 55. Barney is survived by his wife, Lois A. KELLY, AZOR EDWARD - Azor Edward Kelly, 66, of Glastonbury, Conn., beloved husband of Sue S. Kelly, died Monday, February 16th, 2004, at Riverside Health Care after a valiant three year battle with lung cancer. Born September 8th, 1937, in New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Frederick J. and Margaret (Smith) Kelly; he had lived in Glastonbury for the past 20 years. Prior to his retirement last year, he was an Electrical Supervisor for the Department of Corrections for the State of Connecticut. Mr. Kelly was a member of the Big Brothers of America, the I.B.E.W. Local #1253, the Metal Detecting Society of East Hartford, the Inter-State Police Assoc., and had served in the U.S. Army. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law , Christopher E. and Myong Suk Kelly of West Virginia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Jack Szydlosky of Virginia, Kimberly Kelly-Budd and Steven Budd of West Virginia; three brothers, George (Suzanne) Kelly, Beechwood, NB, Joseph (Barbara) Kelly, Hampton, NB, Paul Kelly, Naples, Florida; one sister Marie (Laurence) Fenton, Head of Millstream. Predeceased by sisters Della Parry and Kathleen Kelly of Vancouver, BC. A mass of Christian Burial was held in Glastonbury. Edmond D. Doiron 1923 - 2004 CAP-PELÉ, NB - Edmond D. Doiron, 80, of Cap-Pelé passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born in Rivière-du-Portage, N.B., he was the son of the late Damien Doiron and the late Angèle Holmes. He was a Private with the North Shore Regiment with the Royal Canadian Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was a carpenter and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 91 in Cap-Pelé. He is survived by five sons, Raymond (Hélène) and Guy all of Cap-Pelé, Gérard (Alma) of Dieppe, Donald (Léona) of Shediac, Roger of Trois Ruisseaux; a sister, Cecilia Doyle of Miramichi; a brother, Edgar (Carmel) of Edmundston; nine grandchildren, Marcel, Kenneth, Claude, Paul, Michelle, Lisa, Jason, Ricky, Mathieu; and six great grandchildren, Jessie, Sabrina, Jason, Danie, Alex, Chantal. SAUNDERS, HARRY EARLE - The death of Harry E. Saunders of Saint John, formerly of Hampton occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 22, 2004. He was born in New River, NB and was the son of the late Benjamin P. Saunders and Alice J. Cox and husband of Mae (Killam) Saunders and the late Helen Marjorie (Silliphant) Saunders. Harry was a veteran of WW II and served as a signalman in the Royal Canadian Navy overseas from 1939-1944, on the HMCS Fennel. He was a member of the Main Brace Navel Veterans Association, was a former member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club and Hampton Golf and Country Club. Besides his wife he is survived by one son William "Benny" Saunders, four daughters Barbara (Raymond) Wasson, Gail Mabey, Norah Mawhinney, Nancy Saunders and two stepchildren Marilyn (David) Bradford, Bill (Corinne) Killam. Also survived by grand children, Shelley, Susan, Jackie, Billy, Robbie, Sherry, Sean, Shane, Shannen, Hilary, step grandchildren Dawn, David, Peter, Stephen and eighteen great grandchildren and three nieces.
