Jeannine Bedard, beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Dionne, in her 72 year. Dearly loved mother of Pierre, Marc and Jacques Proulx, all of North Bay and stepchildren, Johanne Dionne (John) of Luceville, Quebec and Danny Dionne (Lise) of Hemmingford, Quebec. Lovingly remembered by three step grandchildren. Loved sister of Angele Birtch, Yolande Sevingy, Patricia Cooper and Paul Bedard (Rosemary). Jean was a cashier for Loebs, Fisher Street Grocery for many years. Omer Gallant 1910-2004 SHEDIAC, NB - Omer Gallant, 93, of the Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Sandford, Maine passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2004 at the residence. Born February 14, 1910, Shediac River, he was the son of the late Johnny Gallant and the late Alice Poirier. MILETTE, Sister Yvette, SP Sister Yvette Milette, SP (Celine de la Presentation) passed away at Providence Centre Infirmary, Edmonton, Alberta on January 25, 2004 at the age of 93. She leaves to mourn her loss the members of her religious community (the Sisters of Providence); her sister, Marguerite Milette; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many devoted aboriginal brothers and sisters throughout Alberta. KENWOOD, William Frank. At the age of eighty-one, passed away in hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida on January 23. His children, Sharon, Linda, Sandra and Bill, and their spouses, Keith Johnston, Bruce Pfeiffer and Steve Kovach. His granddaughter Jennifer, her husband Lucas, and a joy in his life, Cali Wyn Clements his great-granddaughter of Burlington, Ontario as well as his grandson Colin Kenwood, of Montreal, Quebec will forever miss him. He also leaves behind his loving companion Martha Battles, of Ft. Myers whose patience and kindness will never be forgotten. He will be remembered fondly by his brothers, Paul and Peter Kenwood, and his sister Joyce Kenwood-Gauthier. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of forty-seven years, Wyn Kenwood whom he met in England while serving with the RAF during WWII. He worked in the moving and storage business until his retirement in 1985. His strong committment to the Rotary Club of Westmount to which he is an honorary member today, earned him a Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Hudson, Quebec. He was an active social member of Whitlock Golf and Country Club. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, but not forgotten. He would have been honoured to receive donations in his name to either the Westmount Rotary Club-Manoir Westmount or the Hudson Royal Canadian Legion. LUNAN, William Alan. 1914-2004 In his ninetieth year, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2004 at "October House" in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Born in Montreal on October 21, 1914. Husband of Norma Sauve (Lunan) and the late Margaret Cowan (Lunan), father of Ross (Janice), Janice, Eric (Helene), Ramsay (Glynes) and several grandchildren. Also survived by brother Malcolm (Doris) and sisters Irene and Doris. Alan was a retired employee of Air Canada where he worked for thirty-eight years and was an active member of the Valois United Church for most of his life. DIBBS, M. Ruth Retired Statistics Canada Peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre on Friday, January 23rd in her 73rd year. The daughter of the late Marian and Sandy Nicholson, Ruth was born in Saskatchewan and was educated at the Universities of Toronto, New Brunswick and the London School of Economics. Following her marriage in England in 1955, she and her husband Hugh lived in Oxford for two years where she worked at the Oxford University Institute of Statistics. In 1957 they moved to Ottawa where Ruth took time out from the labour force while she raised her family and made voluntary contributions to the community. She then joined Statistics Canada where, for over twenty years, she enjoyed an interesting and stimulating career. In her retirement, Ruth was able to enjoy her grandchildren, her garden and travelling with her husband. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Hugh, three children, Susan (Ken McGregor), Ian Dibbs (Denyse Roberts) and Janet Dibbs (Michael Laming), seven grandchildren, a sister, Mary Anna Higgins and a brother Al Nicholson (Evelyn Marshall) and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Respecting Ruth's wishes, there will be a private family memorial service. Walter was a master carpenter for Clyde Soper in Aylmer from 1950. He arrived in St. Catharines in 1957 and held the position of building inspector for Grantham T wp. He continued on working for the City after amalgamation and earned the position of Chief Building Official which he held for 30 years until his retirement in 1987. Walter was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 for the past 30 y ears. He was a volunteer fireman in Aylmer for 10 years before moving to St. Catharines. Walter will be sadly missed by Alec Alexander and George Sarkisse, his buddies who enjoyed spending time boating, fishing and camping at the French River. Dad wa s always able to fix anything his family challenged him with which they did so often and he will be missed each and every day. The family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Gruber, Dr. John Hyatt, and Dr. E. R. Blackman for their constant vigil and compas sionate care given to Walter and his family. CASE, Winslow Aubrey Sealey In loving memory of Winslow A. S. Case, 77 years of Sudbury, who passed away Tuesday, January 20th, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Winslow Case was born in Guyana where he received his elementary and secondary education. He received his higher education in the United States and Canada. He is a former professor of mathematics and science and a former professor of electrical and electronics technology of Cambrian College, Sudbury; a former trustee with the Sudbury Board of Education; a former member of the Science Council of Canada; a former member of the governing board of the Canadian Council of Churches; and a retired lieutenant-colonel with the Canadian Forces. Winslow was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1974 and was honoured as a Global Citizen of the United Nations in 1995. He was awarded Canada's 125th Anniversary Medal and bar to the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1991; the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1982; the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal in 1980; the Governor General's gold Medal in 1975; and the 1939-45 Star, the 1939-45 War Medal and the Atlantic Star in 1946. SOMMERS, Voldemar "John" In loving memory of Voldemar "John" Sommers, 88 years formerly of Connaught St., who passed away Thursday evening, January 22nd, 2004 at Extendicare - York, Sudbury. VAN EXAN, James "Jim" Edward In loving memory of James "Jim" Edward Van Exan, 73 years, who passed away Friday evening, January 23rd, 2004 at Finlandia Koti. Born in Tonawanda, NY, he came to Sudbury as an infant and he married Marge in Copper Cliff in 1952. Jim was a supervisor at the INCO Iron Ore Plant for 35 years retiring in 1985. He was a member and served as an elder of St. Luke's United Church. Jim was a 25 year volunteer with the 2nd Minnow Lake Fire Department and spent 25 years as a Cub Master. He was a member of Friendship Lodge #691 A.F. & A.M., 32 degree member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Sudbury Shrine Club. Jim dedicated his life to his family and his community. Sylvia was a devoted mother and grandmother and known for her wonderful cooking. She was born on the island of Ponsa, in Italy, and came to Canada at the age of four. She resided in Copper Cliff for many years, where she and her husband Dan raised their family. She was one of the many women that helped out at INCO during the Second World War, counting ore cars. DUTTON, Adam Passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, January 23, 2004 at 74 years of age at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Memorial Site surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Mary Dutton who he met and married in Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1949. Loving father of Thomas (wife Kay Ann) of Charleston, West Virginia, Ronald (wife Nana) of Austin, Texas, and Anita Christine (predeceased). Dear brother of Peggy McIntosh of Edmonton. Cherished grandfather of Thomas Jr., Joseph, Andrew, Adam, and Vincent. Adam was raised in Piney, Manitoba and moved to Flin Flon at 17 years of age and began a career in the smelting industry that endured from 1947 to until his retirement from INCO in 1995. Adam was largely defined as a self-taught highly motivated individual who made a series of dramatic decisions in his working life that steadily moved him up the ranks from general labourer in the Flin Flon smelter (Hudson Bay Mining) to Jinja, Uganda (Kilembe Mines) to Smelter Superintendent of two Anaconda Company smelters in Poterillos, Chile (in the Andes Mountains) and in Anaconda, Montana. After 25 years, Adam came full circle back to Canada and completed his career with INCO with a tour of duty in Guatemala (EXMIBAL-INCO), and his last 15 years in Sudbury with INCO, retiring as Assistant to the Manager. In retirement, Adam and Mary traveled often to visit family and enjoyed many years with golf chums at the Idylwylde Club. One of Adam's principal passions was aviation and he became a private pilot flying his beloved Piper Cherokee (TG-JOA) with co-pilot Mary from Guatemala to Sudbury. As Adam's emphysema progressed, he extended his flying career by building and flying elaborate model airplanes with the warm comradeship and esprit de corps of the Sudbury Model Airplane Club (SMAC). CHAMPAGNE, Richard Lawrence Mr. Richard Champagne of Cornwall at the Parisien Manor on Friday January 23, 2004 age 87 years. (Veteran W.W. ll). Dear husband of Beatrice Chippure. Dear father to Richard Champagne (Francoise), Howard Champagne, Jerry Champagne (Diane), Michael Champagne, Linda Morin, and Doris Brunet (Pete) all of Cornwall. Sadly missed by 15 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. Predeceased by one son Earl Champagne; his parents Charles Champagne and Phoebe Perrin; brothers John, Jim, Charles, Alex, and William; and by his sisters Irene and Bertha. A private family visitation and funeral will be held. Interment to take place at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Cornwall.
