Née à Grand-Sault en 1922, elle était fille de feu Narcisse Chamberland et de feu Albertine Bard. Mme Deschênes a été précédée par un petit-fils, Jonathan Deschênes. Elle laisse dans le deuil sept enfants, Nicole (George) Morin de Drummond, Michel (Sonja) de Grand-Sault, Bertin d’Edmonton, Alberta, Marcel (Rita) de Grand-Sault, Denise (Onil) Morin d’Edmonton, André de Bathurst et Luc (Tammy) de Grand-Sault, 14 petits-enfants, trois frères, Réginald (Réjeanne) de Grand-Sault, Léonide (Barbara) de Dieppe et Bertin (Judy) de Stickney, neuf soeurs, Marie-Rose Carroll (Chester) de l’Alberta, Bernadette Carroll, Mirella Ouellette, Huguette Ouellette, Martine Michaud et Géraldine Pelletier de Grand-Sault, Alphena Dupuis (René) de Saint-André, Greta Grondin (Maurice) de Fredericton et Velva St-Onge (Gaston) de St-Jacques, ainsi que nombreux neveux et nièces. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon Guy O’Regan, 515, boul. Everard Daigle à Grand-Sault. Ses funérailles auront lieu le jeudi 15 janvier à 16h en l’église de l’Assomption de Grand-Sault, et l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Les heures de visites le mercredi de 19h à 21h, et le jeudi de 14h jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. Wilfred David Gouthro SHEDIAC, NB - Wilfred David Gouthro, 78, of Shediac passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at The Moncton Hospital, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, NS, October 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Seaward Gouthro and the late Anne Chiasson. A WWII veteran he served in England from 1943 to 1945 as a Wireless Air Gunner with the R.C.A.F. He was a sales rep and later branch manager with Homelite-Terry, where he won numerous sales awards. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. (Elks Club), Moncton Golf and Country Club, the Beaver and Beauséjour Curling Clubs and was one of the founding members of the "Nummies". He spent his retirement years wood working, skating, crosscountry skiing and enjoying time with the Shediac Walk and Talk Group. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Nina (LeBlanc) Gouthro; three daughters, Patrice Carter (Dana Pellerin) of Moncton, Susan Johnson (Glen) of Moncton, Ruth Steeves (Dale) of Riverview; a son, Jeff (Cindy) of Riverview; two sisters, Marie Hughes of Ottawa, Margot Jackson (Max) of Markham; a brother, Russell (Sally) of Glace Bay NS; seven grandchildren, Colin, Ian, Alexandra, Connor, Vanessa, Kelly and Jessie. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Art. Resting at Frenette Funeral Home 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) with visitation on Monday from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9p.m., on Tuesday 10:00a.m. until time of the funeral service. MORIN, MILDRED E. - The death of Mildred E. Morin of Kennebec Manor, widow of Joseph G. Morin, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 10, 2004. Mrs. Morin was born in Drummond, N.B., a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Valcourt) Beaulieu, and had resided in Saint John since 1939. She was pre-deceased by three sons, Raymond, Lawrence, and Armand. She is survived by two sons, Gerald of Black River, and Herman (Margaret) of Saint John; two sisters, Louise Halliday of Ontario, and Clare of Connecticut; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. BOURADA, Joyce (nee Brunt) Passed away peacefully with her family at her side, at the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Saturday, January 10th, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. Beloved wife of the late John Bourada. Dearly loved mother of Kim and Philip (Elizabeth). Dear Nanny of Mason (Lori), Adam (fiancee Odette), and Brandon Nihmey; Carla, John, Kelly, Emma, and Angelina Bourada. Great-grandmother of Jordan and Milow Nihmey. MacDONALD, Ellie Saye Cummings (nee Carter) Peacefully in hospital on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the age of 84. Dearly beloved wife of the late Barry. Loving mother of Andrew, John (Sydne Genge), Paul (Gloria), Anne Berger (Steven) and Keith (Liliane Keryluk). Also loved by her six grandchildren, Sarah, Nina, Natalie, Alexander, Zachary and Callum. England 1946; It can't have been easy and certainly frightening to leave her home in Bedford, England to travel alone to far off Canada and a husband she barely knew. Her father leant her money to get to Marseilles to survive several days, a woman and alone, until her ship left. When she arrived in New York three weeks later she was broke and not yet in Halifax. Her husband Barry wired her money and a ticket - yet another journey before her new life might start. In Halifax, a child was born, two more in Sydney, NS, and yet two more in Ottawa. She lived the rest of her amazing adventure at 22 Birch Avenue, Rockcliffe Park as a housewife, pre-school teacher, elementary teacher at Elmwood School, dedicated volunteer and fantastic mother. POIKKIMAKI, Ahti Alfred Ahti Alfred Poikkimaki, 72, of Salem and formerly of Hopewell Hill passed away on January 10, 2004 at the Moncton City Hospital. He was born on February 1, 1931 in Sudbury, Ontario the son of the late Armas Poikkimaki and Helen (Huhta) Poikkimaki. He was retired from the Canadian Air Force. Ahti was an avid fisherman. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed times spent at his camp in Hopewell Hill, where he eventually moved into. He was a special dad and grandfather who always cherished times spent with his family. He will be deeply missed by his mother Helen of Sudbury, Ont.; daughter Tammi Steeves (Stephen) of Salem, NB; son Kurt Poikkimaki of Toronto, Ont, sister-in-law Irene Poikkimaki of Sudbury, Ont; his precious grandchildren Karri Steeves (Terry Geldart) and Stephen Steeves both of Salem, NB. Special niece and nephew Cathy Poikkimaki and Douglas Poikkimaki of Sudbury, Ont. RICHARD (DICK) IVAN BARBEAU It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Barbeau at the Grace Hospital on January 11, 2004 at the age of 82. Dick leaves to mourn his beloved wife Margaret (nee Grace); daughters, Deborah Hickson (Jim) and Janice Bain (Sandy); and son Donald (Lorrie) along with five grandchildren, Kelly, Jaime, Colin, Jared Hickson and his newborn grandson Taige Richard Cy Barbeau who will all lovingly remember him as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Dick, lovingly called "Poopsie" by family and friends was known for his generosity, concern and care for other people. He had a great sense of humour, which helped us all in his final days. He was an active member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church and became acquainted with most of the parishioners, many of whom became good friends. He loved the little children who came up to him to "give him five" every Sunday. Richard was born in Montreal in November 13, 1921. At the age of 19, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served aboard the HMCS "Forest Hill" on convoy duty between Newfoundland and Londonderry, Ireland. His passion was golfing - how he loved being on the course with his buddies Art King, Fred Auger, and Gerry Desjardin, as well as many other golf friends at the air base. The family is very appreciative of all the support, assistance and kindness so generously given by many friends and the nursing staff 2nd floor South and 4th floor South who were so very attentive to his every need. They are indeed "Angels" and may God Bless them all. A special thank you to Captain Faye Shail, Chaplain, who was so very kind to the family and especially to Dick, who "saluted" her every time she came in to visit as well as when prayers were over. Thank you Faye for all the hugs, songs and prayers. Cremation has taken place. To celebrate Richard's life a Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. BAILLARGEON, Jean Marie "John" Passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, at Windsor Regional Hospital - Metropolitan Campus, Sunday, January 11, 2004, at the age of 74 years. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Green). Dear father of Dennis and wife Carol of LaSalle, Ronald and wife Mary Ann of Trenton Mich., John and wife Marilyn of Guelph, Raymond of Windsor, Donald and wife Rosina, Marie Grubb and husband Derek, all of Cottam, Randy and wife Karen Matte of Windsor, Dennis Matte of Mississauga, and Ken and wife Christine Matte of Amherstburg. Dear son-in-law of Bill and Eleanor Green, and late mother-in-law Katherine (nee Bassi). Dear grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Leo and wife Rose of Tecumseh, Adrian and wife Mary Dee of Springhill N.S., and the late Lucien (1990). Dear brother-in-law of Florence Baillargeon of Windsor, Rick and wife Carol Green of Northwest Territories, and Valda and husband Terry Knuckle, of Peterborough Ont. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mr. Baillargeon was a retired auto mechanic, who loved to play golf, and have a game of cards with his friends at the Mission Club at Our Lady of The Rosary Church. East, on Tuesday, January 13, 2004, from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Prayers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends are requested to meet at Our Lady of The Rosary Church (corner of Riverside Dr. East and Drouillard Rd.) on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. GODIN, FRANCES LILLIAN - The death of Frances (Vaughan) Godin, wife of the late Henry Godin of Rothesay, NB occurred on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at her residence. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late John and Marion (Bryson) Vaughan. Frances had been employed at CHSJ Radio Station, Atlantic Wholesalers Ltd. and for many years at APM Ltd. until her retirement. She is survived by two daughters Pamela (Jim) Connolly, Deborah (John) Mihichuk both of Rothesay, one brother John (Theresa) Vaughan Jr. of Rothesay, one sister Madeline "Midge" Jennings of Saint John, four grandchildren Jillian and Jocelyn Mihichuk, Greg (Katherine) and Don Connolly, two great-grandchildren Tylor and Julia Connolly, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by one brother Bobby Vaughan and one sister Mildred Keir. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with visiting on Monday, January 12, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Loving father of Yollande (husband René Laverdière) of Welland, Jean Marc (wife Evelyn) of Glen Robinson, Denis (wife Doris) of Essex, Lorraine (husband Michel Doyon), Daniel (Kim Holland) all of Welland, Dear brother of Alphadore (wife Aurore), Napolidor (wife Rita) of Thunder Bay, Maurice (wife Lucie), Benoit (wife Diana) both of Welland. He will be sadly missed by his 10 grandchildren; Stéphane, Angel, Lynn, Ann, Jonathan, Naomi, Marc, Lisa, Elisha, Cory-Daniel and 6 great grandchildren; Vanessa, Victoria, Quinn, Matthew, Paige and Justin. RONALD BOYER Peacefully with his family by his side, Ronald (R.B.) passed away January 9, 2004 at the Concordia Hospital. R.B. was predeceased by his father Clement and father-in-law Joseph Dmytruk. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Claudia of 45 years; daughter Tammy (Neil); son Todd (Robyn); grandchildren, Christopher, Clint, Laura and Anders; mother Irene; brother Gilbert (Patricia); sisters, Claudette, Elaine Bartley (Gary), along with many nieces and nephews. Dad worked at Canada Safeway bakery division for 37 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed gardening, his many pets and fishing. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. At Ronald's request, no service will be held. Donations may be made in Ronald's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
