Jean-Baptiste Lepage, 15 Ash St, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Dec. 26. He was 83 years old. Mr. Lepage was born on July 17, 1919 in St. Denis, Saskatchewan. He arrived in this area in 1924. Mr. Lepage worked as a maintenance supervisor until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past president of the Caisse Populaire, and a founding member of La Forge. He enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, telling jokes. He encouraged strongly the French language. He was predeceased by all of his brothers and sisters. Mr. Lepage is survived by his wife Rachel; sons Gilles of Gatineau, Quebec and Réjean (Monique) of Ottawa; daughters Julie (Michel) Parisien and Michelle (André) Lebel, both of Kapuskasing; and six grandchildren, Alain, Katie, Marc-André, Sébastien, Anaïque and Émilie. Fr. Fernand Villeneuve directed the funeral service at Notre Dame de la Paix on Dec. 28. Mr. Lepage will be interred at the Val Rita Cemetery.

Catling, Douglas JOHN In his 75th year, passed away peacefully in his sleep at R.V.H., on December 24, 2003. John was born in England, emigrating with his family to Canada in 1971. John is survived by his wife Mary. Sadly missed by his son Paul and wife Karen, and their children Devon and Lindsay; son Tim and wife LeeAnn, and their children Chris, Sam, Lindsay, Lori and Larissa; son Mike and Natalie and his children Matt and Brittany. Survived by his brother David and wife Maggie of Northampton, U.K., his Aunt Dorothy of Washington D.C., his cousin Shelia of California; nieces and nephews in England. John was a long time member of the Barrie Lions Club, serving as club secretary for more than two decades. BOWEN, ERIC (IKE) - Eric (Ike) Bowen, husband of the late Margaret Sarah (Peacock) Bowen, died peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 28, 2003. Born in Hull, England on September 14, 1913, he was a son of the late Annie (Howdle) and Walter Ernest Bowen. He came to Canada with his family when he was 10 years old and spent his whole life in Saint John. Ike was manager of Martin Senour Paints in Saint John for a number of years and was involved in the family business, Peacock's Flower Shop. He was an employee of Dykeman's Hardware Ltd., Adelaide Street, for more than 20 years, retiring just four years ago. He was a long-time member of the parish of St. Paul's (Valley) Church and St. Barnabas Chapel of Ease. He served overseas during the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Portland Branch 64; a member of the Free Masons; a member of the Knights of Pythias, Lodge No. 1, and the Fire Salvage Corps. Besides his parents, Ike was predeceased by two young siblings, Cyril and Marjorie Bowen; a brother Ronald (Jock) Bowen and two sisters, Ruby Pearce and Ivy Frear. He is survived by one son, Eric George Bowen and his wife Sandra Davis; one cousin, Vera Hutt; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Bowen, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at St. Paul's (Valley) Church on Wednesday, December 31, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. There is no visiting at the funeral home by family request. Donations in his memory to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row.

CLARK, Ralph - At North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site, Friday, December 26, 2003 Ralph Clark beloved husband of the late Angele Castonguay in his 95th year. Dearly loved father of Joan Clark of Powassan. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Jennifer Clark, Jamie and Jonathan Duquette and their father George Duquette and great-grandchildren Cody Willis and Alexander Clark. Will also be missed by sisters, Goldie Kendall and Alma Pickett both of Minnesota and daughter-in-law, Marlene Clark of California. Predeceased by two infant children, David and Louise and a son, John Clark. Ralph retired from Shell Canada as a marketing supervisor. He was a member of Associated Canadian Travellers. Some will remember Ralph as having a keen interest in following the stock market, particularly the mining sector. He was also an avid curler. Memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Jane Howe at McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME Chapel today at 11 a.m. followed by luncheon in the funeral home reception lounge. BLACK Julia Howie Riddoch -Born in Scotland on June 25. 1930 Died peacefully at Fir Park Village Nursing Home, Port Alberni, BC on Saturday, December 27 at 11:25 pm.A resident of Port Alberni for ten years and formerly a resident of Peterborough, she was predeceased by her husband Alexander Black, her son Earl, brothers Alistaire, Alexander and Norman. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Ellaner Eason and son in law Gord of Campbell River BC, grandson Jamie and his wife Sandy of Chetwynd BC and grandson Ryan and his girlfriend Jineane Payne of Vancouver BC. Julia will be remembered as a social butterfly who would lend a helping hand whenever needed and one who loved to sing and knit. Lottie Winifred MacCallum HAMILTON, ON - Lottie Winifred MacCallum (nee: Crawford) passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on December 28, 2003 at Macassa Lodge, Hamilton, Ontario in her 90th year. Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, she was the beloved wife of C. Alex 'Sandy' MacCallum, for 61 years. She was a Past Worthy Grand Matron of New Brunswick, O.E.S. and former member of Park Avenue United Church, East Saint John, NB. Loving mother of Winifred Goldsworthy and her husband, Harley and Norman and his wife, Kathy. Dear grandmother of Susan, Terry, Sandy and Jeff, and great grandmother of seven. JONAH, KENNETH MAJOR It is with sadness that Willa and Kenny announce the death of their father, Ken who died peacefully at the York Manor Nursing Home, on Sunday, December 28, 2003. He was a son of the late Alma (West) Jonah and Wilson Jonah. Born in Chipman, New Brunswick on January 10, 1916, he was a life long resident of Doaktown, NB where he worked as a carpenter for 44 years. He was a member of the Doaktown United Baptist Church where he was active in all church activities. Ken was a scout leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Leader, and Deacon on the trustee board and caretaker. Ken was a founding member of the Atlantic Salmon Museum where he was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1998. He also served on the Planning Advisory Council for the Village of Doaktown and was a member of the Doaktown Miramichi Friendship Club. Ken was predeceased by his first wife, Vera Pauline (Crocker) (19151970) and his second wife Juanita (Kamermans) (1920-2003). The last of his immediate family, his sisters were: Winnifred Betts (David) and Georgina Morehouse and his brothers were: Charles Jonah (Marjorie) and Reginald Jonah (Peggy). He is survived by two daughters, Willa MacLean and her husband Ian of Fredericton and a special daughter, Paula Jonah of Campbellton, NB; and only son, Kenneth A. Jonah and daughter-in-law, JoAnn of Dipper Harbour, NB; brotherin-law, Weaver Morehouse of Central NB Nursing Home, Boiestown, NB; and sister-in-law, Ada Crocker of Doaktown; two step-daughters, Bonita Ellis of Newcastle and Linda Waye (Morrissey) of Newcastle; two step-sons, Gary Kamermans (Helen) of Bathurst and William Kamermans (Marie) of Dartmouth, NS. Ken was adored by his many grandchildren and great grand-children; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB with visitation on Tuesday, December 30th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at 11 am from the Doaktown United Baptist Church with Rev. Peter Sudesh Valji officiating. Leonard Frederick Wakefield SACKVILLE, NB - Mr. Leonard Frederick Wakefield, 73, of Queens Road, died peacefully December 28, 2003 while surrounded by family at the home of his daughter in Oak Island, N.C. Mr. Wakefield was born December 10, 1930 in London, England, son of the late William Frederick and Lilian Bennett Wakefield and was a retired purchasing agent with Consumers Glass Company. He was a member of Kinsmen Club and K40, coached minor hockey, and for 55 years had been active with Boy Scouts of Canada, most recently as treasurer. Survivors include his wife of 49 1/2 years, Mrs. Joyce Doncaster Wakefield of the home; a daughter, Pamela Wakefield and fiance Josh Brinkley of Oak Island, N.C.; two sons, Peter Leonard Wakefield and wife, Patricia of Osgoode, Ontario, and Derek Timothy Wakefield and wife, Charlene of Boca Raton, Florida; a sister, Lilian Ogden of Ottawa; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Wakefield. A memorial service will be held at a later date in New Brunswick. TRAINOR, JAMES FREDERICK The death of Mr. James Frederick Trainor, occurred on Sunday December 28, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born November 13, 1932 in Nashwaaksis, NB he was the son of the late James Joseph and Etta Mabel (Bailey) Trainor. He is survived by his sons David Trainor (Sharon) of Sackville, NB and their daughter Bethany, Terry Trainor (Louise-Ann) of Fredericton and their children Andrew and Peter; daughters Laura Steeves (David) of Truro and their children Aaron, Jonathan and Allison, and Sara Townsend (Grant) of Truro and their children Bailey and Brady; brother Gary Trainor of New Brandon; half brother Eric Till of Fredericton; sister Barbara Crittenden (Ralston) of Saint John; aunt Marie Trainor; several cousins; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by grandson Nathan, brother David Trainor and half sister Ardith Till. Mrs. Jeannine Morin (nee Leger) passed away quietly on December 28th, 2003. Beloved wife of the late Maurice A. Morin. Loving mother of Michael Morin, Nicole Brule (Roger) and Manon Morin (Darryl Scharf). Dearly loved grandmother of Camille Brule, Justin Brule and Jennifer Scharf. Oct. 13, 1956 - Dec. 29, 2003 ". and men are, that they might have joy." Nephi 2:25 At home in Winchester, Greg died quietly at age 47 of cancer. He is survived by his wife Elaine and sons Richard, 10, and Noel, 5, and by his mother Audrey and six siblings. Greg filled his life with his family, friends, laughter, church and hard work. After moving to Ottawa in 1988, he managed the Leisure World stores the Pinecrest and Hazeldean malls and in 1996 moved to Winchester. The family would like to thank his many friends, including members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and colleagues at Builders Warehouse. The world is now short one wonderful son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. Greg was one of the good ones.

SNIDER, PHILIP President, Les Emballages Knowlton Inc., Knowlton, Quebec. On December 26/03 the world lost a very special person. Phil, age 53, passed away suddenly at the CHU Fleurimont Hospital, Sherbrooke, Quebec as a result of a tragic accident. He was surrounded by loving family and friends.
