Mr. Alexander Forbes NEW GLASGOW, NS - Mr. Alexander Forbes, 90, Hollis Street, New Glasgow, died Monday, December 15, 2003 peacefully at home. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland he was a son of the late Alexander and Isabel (Cowan) Forbes. He resided in Cape Tormentine, NB, Sackville, NB and Springhill, NS prior to moving to New Glasgow in 2002. He was a member of the Royal Church of Scotland and served in the Merchant Marine from 1940 - 1947. Alex was a journeyman carpenter and a former financial secretary for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 2149 . Surviving are daughter, Alice (Robert) McMillan, New Glasgow and granddaughter, Magdaline Adams, Kentville. He was predeceased by his first wife, Magdaline "Adaline" Cameron Black (Russell) and second wife, Violet Mae Barrett . Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at Alex's request. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to your local palliative care society.

Diane Bédard-Leduc of Smooth Rock Falls, died at Etobicoke General Hospital on Dec. 9, 2003. She was 53 years old. She was described as being generous towards others and her dedication to volunteering will also be remembered. Mrs. Bédard-Leduc was predeceased by father Lionel and brother Jacques. She is survived by mother Berthe, and children Lise Leduc (Patrick Cowan) of Kenora, Lynn (Marc) Brunet of Simcoe, and Michel Leduc (Rachel Tremblay) of Montreal. Also surviving are brothers Réjean (Aline) of Longlac, Bertrand of Kapuskasing, Claude (Marie-Jeanne) of Cochrane and Denis (Ginette) of Ottawa; sister Sylvie (Kent) McRae of Cochrane; and grandchildren Geneviève, Véronique, Stacey and Tuesday. Rev. Hervé Sauvé officiated the funeral mass at Transfiguration Church in Cochrane. Interment of the ashes will be held next sumêmer at the Cochrane Catholic Cemetery.

KHOURY, HOULA (HELEN) Houla (Helen) Khoury wife of the late Salim Khoury, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on December 16th, 2003. She had shown tremendous strength and spirit during her lengthy illness. She was born on August 15th, 1913 in Niha, Lebanon. In the spring of 1951, she and her husband, along with their nine children immigrated to Canada. They established their new home in Fredericton, where her parents had previously made their new home. Her love for Canada was as great as that of her native homeland. She was proud to be part of both. She will be remembered for her hard work, her sense of humor and dedication to her family. She always rose to the many challenges presented and she inspired her family with her courage and perseverance. She is survived by four daughters; Watfa El-Khoury (Youssef) and their children, Salem, Charlotte, Wady, Albert, Gaby Pierre and Yvonne; Sally Delmas (Francis) and their children, George, Andy, Mary, Jackie, Gisele and Peter; Sabina Keenan (Jim) and their children, Kouri and Megan; and daughter, Mary. Five sons Percy (Christine) and their children Danny, Sammy and Lisa; Thomas (Hoda) and their children, Susan, Jeffrey and Jason; Albert (Audrey) and their son Michael; Abraham and daughter, Sherri Cann; Charles (Maxine) and his children, Donny, Matthew, Jennifer and John. She is also survived by twentyseven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Salim Khoury; her son, Joseph; her parents, Marion and Abraham Sweed; brothers, George and Joseph and granddaughter, Sonya Khoury. Resting at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home where visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Dunstan's Church on Friday, December 19th at 12:00 Noon. Monsignor Brian Sheehan as celebrant. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery at a later date. Born in Salmon Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Percy and Thuriza (Farraher) McRae. Floyd retired in 1993 from the Grand Lake Thermal Plant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Survived by his loving wife Stella (LeBlanc) McRae; son, Nelson McRae; a daughter, Sheila Barton (Kenneth); three grandchildren Jennifer, Courtney and Kimberly all of Minto, NB; a sister, Shirley Lemon of Saint John, NB; an uncle Morris Farraher; several cousins. Eloi Légere 1921 - 2003 LEOMINSTER, MASS - The death of Eloi Légere occurred in Leominster, Mass on Sunday, December 14, 2003. Born at St. Antoine, NB on April 21, 1921, he was the son of the late Edmond and Exelda Légere. He worked many years in the construction business, with Legere Brothers Corp. and at Digital Corp. He is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Rose Marie Marshall, Mrs. Norma Armstrong, both of Leominster, Mrs. Karen Houser, of Utah, and one son, Paul Légere of Leominster; four grandchildren; five sisters, Bertha (Leonel), Doris (Levi), Lorraine (Noel), Noëlla (Paul) and Emerise (Fernand); four brothers of Leominster, Malcolm, Freddy, Yvon and Donald. Eloi was predeceased by his wife Marie; a sister Aldéa and a brother, Auréle. Church services and interment will be in Leominster.

Joseph A. Gallant Joseph Anthony (Teddy) Gallant, 87, passed away at the Jordan Lifecare Center on Tuesday, December 16, 2003. Born in Moncton, April 16, 1916, he was the son of the late Anthony and Alexina (Petitpas) Gallant. In the Second World War he served his country with pride and valor as a New Brunswick Ranger in Italy and Germany. He was later employed with C.N.R. for several years. Teddy as he was affectionately called, enjoyed the outdoors, working with his hands and always kept busy. He loved life and the company of family and friends. Survived by a son, Gilbert (Patricia), The Glades; sister, Nora Stokes and grandson, Cass (Norma) of Salisbury; great grandsons, Anthony (Christine), William and Darren Evelley and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Clara (Melanson); son, Floyd; sisters, Mabel Barley, Madeline Burk, Kathleen Roth, Rosie Carson and a brother, Henry. The Funeral will be held from the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Thursday, December 18 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Allison Carroll officiating. No visiting hours by request. HARRY JOSEPH DESJARLAIS MOSHABE Following a long illness and a courageous struggle with diabetes, Harry Desjarlais died peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents, James Desjarlais and Emily (Spence) Desjarlais; his aunt and uncle, Clifford and Olive Eastman (who raised him after his mother Emily passed away), brothers and sisters, Andrew Desjarlais, Oliver Desjarlais, Theresa Demerais, Victoria Roulette, Laurent Desjarlais, Donald Desjarlais, and a special nephew Dennis Desjarlais. He is survived by his wife Rona (Sutherland) and four children, Maureen (Josh Roulette), James, Amiee, and Faye; his brother Douglas (Donna); his two surviving sisters, Mary Whitford, and Nora Houle; half-brother Ray (Diana) Beaulieu; half-sister Ruby (Alphonse) Leclerc; stepbrothers, Ricky (Debra) Coyne, Michael (Rona) Dumas; and stepsister Yvette (Lloyd) McIvor and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Harry was born on January 31, 1948 at home on the Sandy Bay Indian Reserve. He was a Residential School Survivor. Harry had a varied and colourful career. He was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and worked in manufacturing, restaurants, delivery and transport in both urban and rural Manitoba. He also worked as a farmhand and eventually worked assisting farm-workers and farmers in the Portage la Prairie area. He served as Chief of his reserve for two terms. He ran his own business for six years prior to his forced retirement due to illness. He continued to mentor, advise and counsel young people, family and friends. He was a hunter, a medicine man, a family man, a hard working man and highly appreciated by his community. A wake is being held at Harry and Rona's residence at Sandy Bay. A traditional aboriginal ceremony will be held Thursday morning. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay, MB with Father Mike Nwosu officiating. Passed away in his eighty-second year, peacefully in his sleep in Kelowna, B.C. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Carol (Grant) his sons Kevin (Doris), Keith (Anne) and Kerry (Jo-Anne). Grandpa to Kym (Etienne), Brandon, Jason, Kristyn, Courtney and great-grandpa to Xavier and Penelope. Charlie had a great sense of humour that will be missed by all who knew him. He worked at Air Canada for thirty-four years. He was active in the Air Cadets and Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund and various other community projects in Pierrefonds, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Childrens Hospital of your choice. Funeral arrangements to be taken care of by Valleyview Funeral Home in Kelowna.
