Elle était la fille de feu Alexandre-W. St-Arneault et de feu Séraphine Couillard-de-Beaumont. Elle a été supérieure générale de la Congrégation des Soeurs de Sainte-Anne de 1962 à 1974. Elle laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille religieuse, sa belle-soeur Noëlla, épouse de feu Arthur St-Arneault, ses neveux et nièce: Guy, Marc (Thérèse Dionne), Lucie (Réal Paquin), Pierre (Christine Lafond) et leurs enfants ainsi que des anciennes élèves et plusieurs ami(e)s. Elle sera exposée à la Maison mère des Soeurs de Sainte-Anne Pavillon Sainte-Anne 745, avenue Esther-Blondin (18e Av.) Lachine le 17 décembre 2003 de 14 à 17 h et de 19 à 21 h. Il y aura célébration de la Parole à 19 h 30, au salon funéraire. Les funérailles auront lieu en la chapelle de la Maison mère, le 18 décembre 2003 à 10 h 15. BATES, Alexander B. - Passed away suddenly on Monday, December 15, 2003 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in his 88th year. Beloved husband for 57 years to Eunice (nee MacRae). Loving father of Sylvia Keays, of Brantford, Barton (Claire) Ward, of Niagara Falls, Lily Mae (Lorne) McCullough, of Quebec, Libby (David) Montgomery, of Kingston, Joanne (Hil) Crocker, of Niagara Falls, Kevin (Karen) Bates, of Quebec, Shawn (Dale) Bates, of Niagara Falls, and Alexander (Cathy) Bates, of Whitby. Dear grandfather of 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Alexander was a Naval Veteran of World War II, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 479, a member of the Clifton Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. Alexander retired from Cyanamid (Niagara Falls Plant) in 1980 after 44 years of service. The family will receive friends at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Ave. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Doctor John James officiating. WOODS, KERRY ANNE Kerry Anne Woods of Lincoln, NB, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 15, 2003 at the age of 34. Born December 25, 1968, she was the wife of Eric Ring Jr. and mother of son Brandon and daughter Jaime. She is also survived by her mother Nancy (Jerry) Hamilton and father Larry Woods; brother Chris Woods; sisters Tammy Woods and Laurie (John) Rousselle; paternal grandmother Violet Woods and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her grandfather Arthur Woods. She was a hairdresser by trade and worked at Magic Cuts at Woolco. She also worked as cashier at K-Mart and was number "99", an active member of the Saint John Ambulance cadets as a teenager. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, with visitation Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. BARTHELOT, PHILIP EDWARD SR. - The death of Mr. Philip E. Barthelot Sr. of Paddock St., Saint John, NB husband of the late Helen (Power) Barthelot, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2003. He was born in Quebec in 1922. Philip was an adherent of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen. He served as a Gunner in the 22nd. Field Battery Artillery. One of Philip's greatest passions in life was fishing. He had many fond memories fishing at Pugsley Wharf, Musquash and Lily Lake. Philip is survived by seven children, all of Saint John, NB: Philip Jr. (Sybil), David, Wayne, Barbara (Mrs. Bill Knox), Phyllis (Mrs. Glen) Lynch, Diane (Mrs. Gary Yeo), and Rose (Mrs. Wayne Richards) as well as 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several siblings. Un enfant en bas âge, Jacqueline (1968), l’a précédé dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 13h30, le jeudi 18 décembre, à la Maison Bulger de Lamèque, d’où les funérailles auront lieu à 16h. BARTHELOT, PHILIP EDWARD SR.-The death of Mr. Philip E. Barthelot Sr. of Paddock St., Saint John, NB husband of the late Helen (Power) Barthelot, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2003. He was born in Quebec in 1922. Philip was an adherent of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen. He served as a Gunner in the 22nd. Field Battery Artillery. One of Philip's greatest passions in life was fishing. He had many fond memories fishing at Pugsley Wharf, Musquash and Lily Lake. Philip is survived by seven children, all of Saint John, NB: Philip Jr. (Sybil), David, Wayne, Barbara (Mrs. Bill Knox), Phyllis (Mrs. Glen) Lynch, Diane (Mrs. Gary Yeo), and Rose (Mrs. Wayne Richards) as well as 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. DEMERS, Eugene "Mookie"-At North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, after a brief illness with cancer, Monday, December 15, 2003 in his 85th year. Dearly loved father of Louis Demers (Diane), Marc (Marvel), Paul (Gisele) all of North Bay and Victor and Claude Demers (Karen) all of Stoney Creek. Lovingly remembered by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Laurette Power, Eloise Dewar and Claudette Demers. Predeceased by his parents Marie-Anna and Joseph Demers, sisters, Lilliane Demers and Fernande Newton, brothers Antonio "Tony" and Guy. Eugene served in World War II, Perth Regiment 1st Division 1939-1945 with his brother Antonio. He was the only Canadian soldier to be awarded the Bronze Lion Medal by Queen Whilhemina of Holland. Eugene served overseas in the Italian Campaign and in Holland, France and Germany. He was store clerk for the ONR, retiring after 32 years of service and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 445, Callander. Eugene had a great love for the outdoors, animals and gardening. DEVEAU, Norma-94, 121 Maxwelton Rd., Meteghan Centre, Digby Co., passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence, on Monday, December 15, 2003. Norma was the eldest of 13 children and was born on July 13, 1909, to the late Jean William Deveau and Laura Thibodeau. Her father, Jean William Deveau was the son of Jean Deveau, and his mother was Maguet Smith of Hectanooga, Digby Co. Norma was baptized on July 18, 1909, in the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, Chelsea, Mass., and was married to Mr. Victor V. Capes on March 1, 1930, by Rev. J Kierman according to the Rite of the Roman Catholic Church and in conformity with the laws of the State of New York. Mrs. Deveau is survived by her daughter, Ms. Lidwine H. Heroux, Meteghan Centre, formerly of Brunswick, Ga.; her son, Mr. Charles W. Capes, Mildford, Conn.; sister, Helen Smith, Berwick. Norma has three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mrs. Norma Deveau was a pioneer in her generation by working and becoming the first female to be accepted into the International Typographical Union and the Communication Workers of America. She also founded the New Horizons Seniors Club in Meteghan and was a lifetime member of the the New Horizons Club in Weymouth. Norma was always pursuing her creative talents in teaching others how to paint, crochet, knit, and was always willing to give to various charitable organizations even when she was not always able to afford to. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Meteghan Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stella Maris Church, Meteghan, Rev. Albeni d'Entremont officiating, with reception to follow. Burial in the parish cemetery.

GARY LEROY THOMPSON Gary Leroy Thompson passed away suddenly Nov. 16, 2003 at the age of 65. He was born and raised in International Falls, Mn., then moved to Port Alberni, B.C. in 1966. Gary was predeceased by his father, Anton (1996); and loyal companion, Bandit (2003). He is survived by his loving family, mother, Mildred, mother-in-law, Polly, sister, Trudy (Frank) Dunn, and brother, Terry (Barb), all of Minnesota; his loving wife, Sandy (Kingerski); son, Jim (Colette); daughter, Janice (Brian) Hill; grandchildren, James, Bryan, Courtney, and Rhys; as well as many more close relatives and friends. Growing up in International Falls, Gary was an avid hockey and football player. After high school graduation, he served three years in the U.S. Navy. Gary spent five years steam-fitting at the Boise Cascade pulp and paper mill in International Falls, then moved to British Columbia in 1966, where he worked at Alberni Pulp and Paper and the Somass Mill until he retired in 1999. He spent many of his working years involved in the IWA executive. He also spent a brief period farming in Alberta. Gary was a dedicated soccer, hockey, and baseball coach, and also was very active with the Parksville & Qualicum Fish and Game Association. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and antique gun collector. A funeral service for family and friends was held Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension of Parksville, B.C. A celebration of Gary’s life followed at the Arrowsmith Hall in Coombs, B.C.

LUNAN, FRASER RAYMOND - 1983-2003. Passed away on December 13th at the Montreal General Hospital. Beloved son of Ramsay Lunan and Glynes Williams Lunan, brother of Jordan and brother of Chelsea. Grandson of Raymond and Barbara Williams, Saint John, NB and Alan Lunan (Norma Sauve) and the late Margaret Cowan Lunan. Great grandmother Evelyn Damery and uncles and aunts Leslie (David) Hampton, Robert (Lori) Williams and Craig Williams and Ross (Janice) Lunan, Eric (Helene) Lunan, and several cousins. Fraser was born in North York, Ont. on July 10, 1983. His early school years were spent at North Agincourt Jr. School and Sir Alexander Mackenzie in Toronto. He later attended Selwyn House in Montreal and continued his education in St. Andrews College in Aurora, Ont. He then attended Columbia University in New York. Fraser had a talent for excelling in all endeavors. He was always in the top of his class in school and excelled in a variety of sports. He was very passionate about education with a particular love of History and Politics. A private family funeral will be held and a memorial held for the public at a later date yet to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews College, Columbia University, The Montreal General Hospital's Intensive Care Unit or charity/organization of donor's choice to honor Fraser. A special thank you to the medical staff of the Montreal General Hospital's Intensive Care Unit for their care and compassion. McALOON, MARY A. - At Hotel Dieu Hospital, Perth-Andover, NB on December 15, 2003, Mary Alice McAloon (Bourque), in the presence of her family, joined the Communion of Saints. Mary was the daughter of the late Alyre Bourque and Katherine Murphy. She was a graduate of Bath High School. Her life became an example of wife, mother, and grandmother showing deep dedication to family. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the Catholic Women's League of Perth-Andover. She was an avid craftsperson, receiving great enjoyment from her homemade creations and cooking skills. Besides John, her loving husband of 54 years, she is survived by her children Katherine (Claude) Butler of Quispamsis, Gregory (Judy) of Saint John, Patricia (Ralph) Smith of Centerville, and Peter (Sue) of Kilburn; nine grandchildren Joel (Emily), Andrea, Stephanie (Rob), and Michele (Matt) Butler; Jeffrey (Sophie), Mark (Melissa), Michael (Karla) McAloon; Ann (Corey) Wilcox and Amanda (Chris) Scott; six great grandchildren, Austin, Philip, and Vanessa Scott; Brandon Wilcox; Jonah and Jack McAloon; sisters Yvonne Bourque of Bath, Beatrice (Michael) Stephen of Oakville, ON; several nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, and many good friends.
