BYNG, Marion June, Of Port Colborne passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Born in Port Colborne she has lived in this area all of her life. She worked as a nurse at the Port Colborne General Hospital for 22 years. She was predeceased by her husband John Byng, (1992) parents Alfred and Grace Smith, brothers Bob, Richard and Ralph and a sister Eda. Marion is survived by her sons Robert and his wife Linda of Welland and Ralph and his wife Wendy of St. Catharines, grandchildren Ryan and Darren, sister Helen and brothers Merton and Steve. Following Mrs. Byng's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment of ashes will take place at a late date at Oakwood Cemetery. After a tough two week battle with cancer Judy has sailed away from us on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at the age of 55. She died peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus. She leaves behind her husband, Bob Uline, her mother, Aletha (Pound) Martinell, her two boys, Matthew and Andrew MacDonald, her sister, Janet (Smith) McCallum, and her niece Marin McCallum. All the people she has touched over the years, especially the children and parents at the Glebe Co-operative Nursery School, will dearly miss her. Working with children was her reason for being. Judy had such a zeal for living that her passing will leave a void in so many lives. Heartfelt thanks go to the doctors and nurses from the Gynecologic Oncology Department of the Ottawa General who were so kind and supportive in Judy's last days. A memorial service will be held in Charlottetown at a later date. For family and friends in the Ottawa area, a celebratory gathering will be organized for the spring to coincide with boating season. Judy will keep teaching, sailing, skating and cycling in our hearts forever. CARAQUET-À l’Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus de Caraquet, le vendredi 12 décembre 2003, à l’âge de 64 ans, est décédé Jacques Vienneau, époux de Marcella Cormier, domicilié à Caraquet. Né à Rivière-du-Portage le 26 mars 1939, il était fils de feu Willie Vienneau et de feu Olésine Doiron. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil deux filles: Jacqueline et Isabelle (Walter Lee), toutes deux de Caraquet; ses deux petits-fils qu’il aimait tant: Marc-André et Brandon; une soeur, Suzanne (feu Alphée Comeau) de Val-Comeau; deux frères: Albert (Marie-Ange Boudreau) de Tracadie Beach et Jerry de l’Ontario; ses belles-soeurs: Edna (Théophane Thériault) de Petit-Rocher, Elizabeth McKernin de Bertrand, Régina (feu Laurent Lalonde) de Mont-Joli, QC, Laure de Toronto, Ont. et Albertine des Résidences Mgr Chiasson de Shippagan; ses beaux-frères: Camillio, Lionel (Exilia McGraw), Victor (Claudette Savoie) et Réjean (Camillia Lanteigne), tous de Caraquet, Rhéal (Pauline Demers) de Morinville, Alb., Médard (feu Réjeanne Landry) de Bertrand et Robert (Ginette Cormier) de Petit-Paquetville, ainsi que plusieurs cousins, cousines, neveux et nièces. Une soeur, Emma, ainsi que deux frères: Arthur «Art» et Valmond, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 19h, le dimanche 14 décembre, à la Maison funéraire Racicot de Caraquet. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens de Caraquet, le lundi 15 décembre, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, au printemps. BURGESS, DOROTHY GRACE - After living courageously with cancer, Dorothy Grace Burgess (Horton) (Hebb) formerly of Saint John, N.B., passed away at her home in Green Valley, Arizona on Wed., Dec. 10, 2003. Born on January 31st, 1928 in Chester, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Mabel (Lantz) Chandler. Dorothy was a well-known hairdresser and beauty consultant in Saint John for many years, having operated Dorothy Horton Beauty Salons in both Saint John and Rothesay, as well as a consignment clothing store in uptown Saint John. She was an avid golfer; travelled extensively; and lived life vivaciously. She was a member of country clubs in Green Valley, Az and in Alto, N.M. where she and her husband spent the summers. She was a member of Desert Hills Lutheran Church in Green Valley, Az. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her husband and family and many, many friends. She is survived by her husband, William Burgess of Green Valley, Az; sons James (Patricia) Hebb, Hampton, N.B.; John (Gayle) Hebb, Prince George, B.C.; Paul (Terri) Horton, Hammond River, N.B.; daughters Gaye (Sid) Miller, Alto, NM; Linda (John) Snow, Hampton, N.B., 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, as well as step-children Jeffrey (Leigh Ann) Burgess; Tommy Burgess; Debbie (Steve) Sessions; and their families in the US; twin sister Doris Meadow, Green Valley, Az; sister Edna Nauss, Halifax, N.S.; brother Walter Chandler, Chester, N.S. She was predeceased by husband, Donald Hebb and Frederic Horton, as well as brother Laurence Chandler. A memorial service will be held at Desert Hills Lutheran Church, Green Valley, Az on Tues., Dec. 16, 2003. Kathleen Walton SAINT JOHN, NB - The death of Kathleen Walton, age 92, widow of Hetor Walton, of Saint John and formerly of Sackville and Little Shemogue, occurred in Saint John on Friday, December 12, 2003 Born in Middle Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Zilpha (Wheaton) Robinson. Kathleen was a life member of the Murray Corner Women's Institute. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her daughter, Carol (Thomas) Simpson of Saint John; two grandchildren, Kevin of Saint John and Roxanne of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her husband, Hector; brothers, Fred, Gerald and Aubrey; sisters, Estella and Jennie. The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where the visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 and Sunday from 7 to 9 pm. He was the son of the late Albenie and Beatrice (Duguay) Donelle. He will be sadly missed by his wife Viola (McKenny) two sons, Joseph (Jane) of Quispamsis and Paul at home, two brothers Alyre (Eva) of Shediac and Albany of Toronto, three sisters, Geraldine Babineau of Moncton, Anita Donelle of Port Elgin and Emerise Collen of Cape Pele, two grandchildren, Joseph of Quispamsis and Nichola of Missouri, U.S.A., three step grandchildren, Sarah, Melissa and Jessica. MacELWEE, Douglas Morley, December 1, 1945 - December 9, 2003, With tremendous sadness and loss, we announce the death of our dearly loved husband, father and grampie, Doug died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and dear friends after a c ourageous battle with cancer. Doug, beloved husband of Donna (Salomone) MacElwee, his wife of 38 years. Proud father of Leah MaElwee and Cindy (MacElwee) Dunn, proud father in law of Sean Dunn, and extremely proud grampie of Brendon Dunn. Loved son i n law of Ann and Sal Salomone. Predeceased by his wonderful loving parents Grace and Eldon MacElwee, brother Reg Haggerman and sister Eleanor MacElwee. He is survived by his brothers Jim and his wife Norma MacElwee, and Bobby and his wife Claudette M acElwee, and his dear sister Bette Hartley. Although he will be missed terribly, we have the assurance that he now has a new body in Jesus Christ whom he trusted and accepted as his Saviour. The family is extremely thankful to his excellent treatment team; Dr. Sawalu his surgeon, Dr. Shao his oncologist, and the Hotel Dieu Hospital Oncology staff. The wonderful care he received at home through CCAC, VON, Paramed and Dr. Hartman and her husband Don Foley was appreciated. Doug's wishes to be cared for at home were made possible. The family had the honour to care for Doug at home until his last breath. The visits and prayers from family and friends were a great encouragement to Doug and the spiritual support from our friend and pastor, Larry S hantz was and is greatly appreciated. HUYCK, Donald William (Don), Born in London, Ontario March 25, 1923, passed away in Dunchurch, Ontario December 5, 2003. Athlete, Coach, Scholar, Teacher, Counselor, Veteran, Artist, Racounteur, Vinophile, Philosopher, Father, Friend. Survived by hi s daughter Honi (Bud Leonard) of Belle River, Ontario, his son Dean (Linda Lehman) of Guelph; his former wife and mother of his children Bernice Keddy of Dunchurch; and his beloved grandchildren Sequoia Huyck Lehman and Banyan Huyck Lehman. Predeceas ed by June Huyck (Johnston). In his youth Don was an outstanding multi-sport athlete in London, particularly at South High School and the University of Western Ontario, where he was the Mustang Football MVP in 1946. Don spent most of his adult life i n St. Catharines touching the lives of hundreds of students as a teacher and counselor in several different high schools. Arthur Wells 1912 - 2003 Arthur Wells, 91, of Hillsborough, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, December 12, 2003. Born in Albert, NB, November 3, 1912, he was the son of the late James and Lillian (Graves) Wells. Arthur was a kiln operator with Canada Gypsum Co. in Hillsborough for 35 years. He attended Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with his hands and was quite the handyman and he also enjoyed hunting. He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Fenton and her husband Stanley of Hillsborough; son, Ralph "Bob" G. Wells and his wife Ellen of Hillsborough; three grandchildren, Shayne Fenton (Bonny), Stephen Wells (Dorothy) and Scott Wells (Julie); four great grandchildren, Sean, Emma, Stephanie and Corey; and by several nieces and nephews. Arthur was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is predeceased by his wife Doris L. Wells in 1999; a grandson, R. Gordon Wells. MILLER, Mary Dorothy Patricia, Peacefully in her 85th year, at Niagara Arms Retirement Residence in St. Catharines, on December 6, 2003. Daughter of the late Frederick A. Miller and Patricia Miller. Sister of Bill (Rita) of St. Catharines, Marguerit e (Mrs. Paul Morrison) of Toronto, Fred (Anne Marie) of Ottawa, and Emily (Mrs. Ralph Beck) of Northridge, Connecticut. Predeceased by her brothers, the infant Robert (1921) and John (1996). Mary was a graduate of the University of Toronto (1946). He r work experiences ranged from the solemnity of the law, the liberating ambience of Northern Ontario mining and finally the "family" stability of Ontario Hydro. After a fall in her home in June of 2001, Mary went to live at Niagara Arms, where she en countered a very caring Doctor Joseph Wakil who, with his dedicated support staff made her last days comfortable and her transition to the next world easy.
