At Granite Ridge Nursing Home, Stittsville, Friday, December 12, 2003 in his 77th year. Survived by his loving wife Irene (nee Keys), his sister Jean and his children Kris McGarry, Bob Lister, Kelly Lister and Jim Lister. Grandchildren Lindsey and Amanda McGarry and Rob and Mackenzie Harwood-Lister. A retiree of Bell Canada International (BCE), he was a long time resident of the Perth Ont. area, both prior to and during his retirement years. These years were actively spent with the Ontario Lawn Bowling Association, The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society and the volunteer Auxiliary of the Perth and District War Memorial Hospital. Our sincere thanks to the staff and management of Granite Ridge for their kind care and compassion. A Service in Memory of Bob will be held in the Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata Wednesday at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. JOSEPHINE MARIE DESJARLAIS Peacefully on Dec-ember 10, 2003, Josephine Marie Desjarlais, born in St. Francois Xavier on December 2, 1914, widow of Theodore Desjarlais, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by a daughter in infancy and a son, Maurice in 1993. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Elie, Gilbert and Oliver and a son-in-law Bernard Toupin. She is survived by her daughters, May (Paul) Renaud, Doris (Maurice) Gobert, Muriel (Stuart) Pearase, Rita; sons, Roy of Montreal and Hector, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Ed Barron and sister Albertine Nanosky of Winnipeg. Josephine enjoyed gardening her flower beds, her pets, bird, dog, etc. Prayers will be held on Monday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Road. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil cinq fils, Gérald, Pierre (Lorette), Paul et Marcel de Grand-Sault et Raynald (Irène) de Moncton, trois filles, Adélina, Gaëtanne et Francine de Grand-Sault, un frère, Léon de Causapscal, Québec, 25 petits-enfants, nombreux arrière-petits-enfants, neveux et nièces. BEAUGRAND, Mary 79 years, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2003 at Windsor Regional Hospital-Metropolitan Campus. Beloved wife of Al. Loving mother of Terry Frame of Newfoundland, Sandra and husband Brian Hickson of LeDuc, AB and Tracy and husband Dan Laurie of Edmonton. Dear step-mother to Michael Beaugrand and wife Debbie of Emeryville and Denise and husband Dr. Michael Coughlin of Windsor. Grandmother to three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother in England. Mary was a former member of the Tecumseh Golden Age Club. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. DANEAU (Young), Joan-Passed away quietly at home surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2003. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Rejean Daneau. She is survived by her daughter, Manon Daneau (Brent Baker), Truro; son, Roch Daneau (Tracy Daneau), Dartmouth; her wonderful grandsons, Jaxon, Alex, and Justin. She is also survived by her foster mother, Mary Cullen; mother, Helen Scott, and aunts, Esther and Christina, both of Halifax; Beatrice, Campbell River, B.C. She was predeceased by her aunt, Margaret; her father, Thomas Gordon (Sydney Mines). She worked for many years at Hermes Electronics, American Motors and the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. She had many kind friends who she loved dearly, namely her loving partner, John Parsons for his care, kindness, love and support. The family would like to thank John for his dedication and strength at the best and worse times. She enjoyed life and brightened the lives of others. Her relentless passion for her family's well-being guided her life and gave it purpose. A person of action and a tireless worker despite much suffering, her courage and determination gave hope and inspiration to others. She will be greatly missed by all, most especially her three angels. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Rd., Cole Harbour. FERRIER, Kathleen Beatrice-It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Kathleen Beatrice Ferrier on December 1, 2003, in Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Kathleen was born March 12, 1920, in Winnipeg and was raised in Saint James by her late parents Nelson and Anne Cox. Kathleen worked many years in the insurance business and enjoyed winters in Arizona with her husband Bob. She will be sadly missed by her son, Greg; daughter-in-law, Shirley; grandchildren, Suzanne, Brodie, Heather and Melanie; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kaylee, all of Halifax. Kathleen also will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Ferrier and Betty Collicutt; brother-in-law, Charles Hilton; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert William Ferrier. Cremation and interment have taken place in Winnipeg. A memorial service will be held in J.A. On December 8, 2003, Pauline, blessed daughter of the late Louisa Massey, peacefully passed away at Father Dowd House; Pauline would have celebrated her eighty-sixth birthday on December 22, 2003. She is survived by nephews Douglas Lonie (CA) and Ronald Lonie (AZ), great nephew Douglas Jr., great niece Jennifer and two great-great nephews, Lance and Hayden Lonie. Pauline was devoted to her family, friends and her church, St. Matthew's in Hampstead. The family is so grateful for the kindness of Pauline's friends in her final years and especially to Ms Hazel Ottley (Montreal) for her special friendship and love. Also the family wishes to thank the staff at Father Dowd House for all the care she had this year. Denis will be deeply missed by his wife, Louise Lore; his children, Lynn and Brian and their partners Ken and Julie; his beloved grandchildren, Bryn, Clare and Benjamin; his brother, Bob, of Carleton Place, and sister, Margaret Cramm, of Ancaster, Ont. He was pre-deceased by his brother George, of Ancaster, Ontario, and sister Jean Bushfield, of Ottawa. Denny joined the Hamilton Spectator as a copy boy in 1947 and by 1961, he was Executive Editor. In 1966, he became Editor of the mass circulation weekly, The Canadian. In 1970, he became the Executive Editor of the Montreal Gazette. He joined the CBC in 1973 as Chief News Editor and the following year, became Assistant General Manager of CBC English Service. From 1978-1981, Denis was Editor-in-Chief and Vice President of the Toronto Star. He returned to the CBC in 1983 as head of TV Sports. He was next appointed Vice President of the CBC English Television Network where he dramatically increased Canadian content and oversaw the launch of CBC Newsworld. In 1993, he joined Atlantis Films as President and CEO of the Life Channel. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. Judge John, Q.C. Died after a short illness at Belleville General Hospital on Thursday, December 11, 2003. John had a distinguished career in the law serving for several decades as both Crown Attorney and Chief Crown Attorney in Ottawa and for several more as Judge and as a Defence Attorney serving Belleville and its environs. John was also well known for his love of painting and the Canadian wilderness and was one of the founders of the Bytown Bushwhackers - a club dedicated to exploring Canada by canoe. John will be sorely missed by his wife Toni; his children Victoria, Roslyn and Aileen; his grandchildren Samantha and Jonathan; his great-grandchild Hannah; and his many nieces and nephews (Tom, Linda, Judy, Val, Anne, Alexandra, James, Pamela, Grant, and Jennifer). His stepson James and wife Janet; his stepdaughters Nicole and Jennifer and husbands Steve and Shawn; and their children Gordon, Gregory, Brandon, Dalton, Jared, Zack and Tessa will also miss the important part 'Grampy' played in their life. BECHARD, Ronald "Ron" "Poncho" Eugene In loving memory of Ronald "Ron" "Poncho" Eugene Bechard, 68 years who passed away Wednesday, December 10th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital-Memorial Site. Born in Britt, he worked as a diamond driller with INCO for over 40 years, retiring 1997. He enjoyed bowling, picking blueberries and was well known as an umpire for baseball and a referee for hockey. Ron was a people person, he loved to visit and always had time for friends. Outre son conjoint, elle laisse dans le deuil une fille, Lison (Serge Losier) de Losier Settlement; deux fils: Alain de Dieppe et Stéphane (Alice) de Grand-Sault; quatre petits-enfants: Mélanie, Erika, Patrick et Zachary; deux soeurs: Aldéa (André Boucher) de Saint-Hubert, QC et sa jumelle Adeline (Benoit Hébert) de Saint-Simon; un frère, Oscar (Réjeanne) de Terrebonne, QC; une belle-soeur, Marie-Reine LeBouthillier (feu Marius) de Longueuil, QC, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Une soeur, Jeannine (Jeannot), ainsi que deux frères: Jeannot «Jean» (Thérèse) et Marius, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Simon de Saint-Simon, le samedi 13 décembre, à 14h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, au printemps. SIMONE RUSENSTROM-BOURGOIN (nee Mineault) 1922-2003 The family announces with sorrow her death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Thursday December 11, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by her first husband Edgar Rusenstrom (1957) and her second husband Paul Bourgoin (1996). Dear mother of George Rusenstrom (wife Iris) of Timmins, Helen Lefebvre (husband Luke) of Richmond Hill, Theresa Mix (husband Gary) of Barrie and Isabel Rusenstrom of Renfrew. Dear grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Sister of Roger Mineault (wife Leona) of Timmins. Predeceased by her son Arthur Rusenstrom (2001) as well as her sisters Aurore Levasseur and Irene Theroux. Simone was born on September 22, 1922 and was a lifelong resident of Timmins. She was a member of the Timmins Seniors Club and was the past president of their Bridge Club. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of the Nativity. TRUDEAU, Deacon David Roland Coleman In loving memory of Deacon David Roland Coleman Trudeau, 78 years of age, 30 years of sobriety. Died peacefully surrounded by his wife and family at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Wednesday evening December 10, 2003. Coleman moved back home to Wikwemikong after retiring from being a lumberjack in Newberry, Michigan. He had helped many young Wiky men get jobs working in the bush, he would come to Wiky to pick them up. Shortly after moving to Wiky Coleman became a Deacon for the Holy Cross Mission Catholic Church. He was also a champion fiddler and played fiddle everywhere but the Grand Ole Opry. He played for the American radio stations and was featured in a documentary "Medicine Fiddler". He was awarded at an Awards Dinner for his fiddle playing from the Ontario Arts Council. Coleman found his sobriety on August 12, 1973 and was a member of the Little Current A.A. Group. He was also a Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counsellor and was pretty active with Rainbow Lodge. Coleman has requested that his ashes be scattered over several places but mainly at Tahquamenon River in Michigan where he proposed to Clara. They married on the American Thanksgiving November 27, 1975. He was a War Veteran serving in the Korean War and with the U.S. Navy. Beloved husband of Clara (Fox) Trudeau of Wikwemikong and 1st wife the late Tillie Kubunt of Newberry, Michigan. Dear son of the late Dominic & Angeline (Wassegijig) Trudeau of Wikwemikong. Dear step father to Bill Tucker, Sharon (husband Ray) Wynn & Bob Tucker of Newberry Michigan, Lindell Mathews of Wikwemikong, Annie Kay (friend Eric Eadie), Mathew and Linda Mathews (predeceased). Loving grandfather to Billy, Karen, Jimmy, Linda (friend Wayne), Ronald (friend Tracy), Maxwell, Lindsay, Michael, Darla and a few more from Newberry Michigan (names unknown at time of printing). Predeceased by two grandchildren Linda Marie & Lucy Marie. 1 great granddaughter Deanna Mathews. ARNOLD JAMES PATTISON On Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, after a courageous fight with cancer, Arnold James (Jim) Pattison passed away at the Lake of the Woods Hospital in Kenora, Ont. Jim was predeceased by his mother, Helen (Shine) in 1973; his father, Arnold in 1989; and his grandparents, Albert and Lily Pattison and Alvin and Mary Shine. He will be sadly missed by Edna Pattison, who was a second mother to Jim; his sister, Judy (Phil) Rumpel; three nephews, Guy, Sean, and Cory Rumpel; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Devlin, Ont., Emo, Ont., Fort Frances, Ont., and Atikokan, Ont. Jim also will be missed by Morris and Gladys Desserre, who he stayed with for the past eight years, and his dear friend, Joyce Young, who was his partner for 17 years in Devlin. Jim also had many good friends in Devlin and Emo, who helped and supported him during his illness. Jim was born Feb. 28, 1953 in Devlin and lived there until 1995, when he moved to Emo. He had worked at the Steep Rock Iron Mines in Atikokan, Hammond Trucking, Lakehead Freightway, George Armstrong, and for Donny Witherspoon in Fort Frances. He had been working for M.L. Judson for the past few years until he became ill in 2002. Jim loved snowmobiles, especially his silver bullet. He often was seen in the pits at the Emo stock car races. He was especially proud of his cousins, Chris and Charlene Shine. Jim also loved horses, and took part in several horse shows and rodeos in the area. He helped his partner, Joyce, start up the Northern Therapeutic Riding Association (NORTRA) in 1988 and supported that program until he became ill. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Honourary pallbearers were Herbie Shoemaker, John Shoemaker, Doug Witherspoon, Lenny Mann, Larry Mann, and Doug Cross. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Northern Therapeutic Riding Association in Devlin, or the Lake of the Woods Hospital Tree of Life campaign.
