DUKE, MARY NORMA - The death of Norma Duke, formerly of Edison Crescent, Ocean West Way, occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital, on Wednesday, December 10th, 2003. Born in Chatham, NB, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Ward) Duke. Norma is survived by a son, Robert Duke (Terri) of Saint John, NB; sister, Ann "Pat" Long of Hampton, NB; brother, Ward Duke (Louise) of Brown's Flat, NB; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sarah Wilkes and Theresa Duke; two brothers, John and Richard Duke. Beaudin, Victor, Published: 12/11/2003 Regina, SK BEAUDIN_Victor John: It is with great joy that the family gives over to Jesus Christ the spirit of his child, Victor J. Beaudin Sr. Vic Luke was born near Marieval, SK on May 19, 1934 to Fidele and Marie Philomene (nee Desjarlais) Beaudin. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving grandparents Down Mushum Jimmy Jacques and Down Kokum Therese (nee Pelletier) Desjarlais. Already with our Lord are his siblings Emil, Eva and Edna, his wife Kathleen Cookie (nee Gunn), Vic Little Man Beaudin Jr., and Louis Gene Beaudin. DUBIE, Claire Lucienne (nee Michaud) In loving memory of Claire Lucienne Dubie, (nee Michaud), 69 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Monday, December 8, 2003 at Lakeland, Florida. She was born in Sudbury and married Maurice Dubie in 1954 in Sudbury. A life resident of Sudbury Claire was a devout Roman Catholic who belonged to St. Eugene's Church. She had worked at Sears for 25 years where she had many friends as fellow staff members and customers. She retired in 1988. A well respected and liked resident of the Woodbrook Estates in Lakeland Florida she was the president elect of the resident's association. She will be remembered for her wonderful and wicked sense of humour she generously shared with others. An avid knitter, her beautiful creations are treasured by family and friends. The focus of Claire's life was her loving family. She was instrumental in raising her children with encouragement, enlightenment and empowerment and now was an equally inspring influence for her grandchildren. Beloved wife of Maurice Dubie of Sudbury. Loving mother of Lise Lalonde (husband Mickey) of Montreal and Marc Dubie (wife Krista) of Sault Ste. Marie. Proud grandmother of James, Robert, Chloe, Anne Marie, Jean-Michel, Andrea, Jordan, Amelia, Nicholas and great-grandchild Alyssa. Cherished daughter of Lucienne (Ross) Michaud of Sudbury and Henri Michaud predeceased. VIRGINIA ROSE CHARTRAND (nee DELARONDE) (BIRDIE) After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Virginia Chartrand (better known as Birdie), on December 8, 2003. She was born on October 16, 1940 in Oak Point, MB. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, father John, mother Mary; husband Arthur; brothers, James and John; and sister Billie. YERXA, GERALD CHESTER Gerald Chester Yerxa of Mactaquac, N.B. died peacefully in his sleep on December 10, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born August 20, 1930 at Mactaquac, N.B., he was the son of the late Lydia Jane (Brewer) and Chester Samuel Yerxa and husband of Violet Gertrude (McGeehan) Yerxa. He was an employee of Mactaquac Provincial Park for 25 years retiring in 1991. Gerald is survived by his loving wife Violet; two daughters Gail Violet Corey (Leo), Geraldine Mae Pike (Leslie) and two sons, Daniel Gerald Yerxa (Joy) and Beverly Gene Yerxa (Anna Mae); grandchildren Leona Gail Corey, Laura Anne Killgore (Leon), Wayne Darrell Pike (Anne) and Trevor Daniel McGeehan Yerxa; eight brothers and sisters Gertrude McKeen, Greta McLaughlin, Russell Yerxa, Ruth Hill (Ferg), Wayne (Trudy), Arden, Connie LeBritton (George), Philip (Beverley); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Royden, Dale, Harold; sister Margoire and two infant sisters Muriel and Evelyn and an infant brother David. HEBERT, M. THERESA - M. Theresa Hebert of Fredericton, NB died at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, December 10th, 2003. Born in Barachois, NB, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Edna (Gallant) Hebert. Theresa had many passions in life and her career was one of them. She began her education in Point du Chene as a child and became a graduate of Moncton High School. She then attended the New Brunswick Teacher's College. Later, she attended St. Thomas University and UNB receiving her BT, BA and her MEd. She taught school in Point du Chene, Campbellton and Oromocto. During her many years of teaching, she became very close with her colleagues, students and even some parents, keeping in touch with many after her retirement. Theresa also enjoyed her many craft projects and could often be seen with a paint brush in hand. She was also a member of St. Dunstan's Parish, the Bridge Club Group, the Fredericton Decorative Painters Association and the Stepping Stone Centre. Survived by her brother, Joseph Hebert of Point du Chene, NB; sister, Margaret Dove (Myron) of Fredericton, NB and nieces, Tanya Davis (Jim) of Fredericton, NB and Sonya Dove (Maurice) of Toronto, ON. She is also survived by her great nephew, Jacob Davis and great niece, Jessica Davis both of whom she loved dearly and she could often be seen at many of their music and sporting events. She will also be sadly missed by all of her cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, December 12th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Miron was born July 18, 1926 in Moulinette, Ontario, Canada. The daughter of Charles and Hazel (Warner) Baker. She died at St. Francis Hospital at Broken Arrow on Tuesday, December 9, 2003. The former Miss Rowena Baker was married to Ray Miron on June 6, 1949 in Cornwall, Ontario. They moved to Broken Arrow from Denver, Colorado in 1982. Row was a homemaker, who also spent time selling Oiler Hockey tickets in the 60's. Row enjoyed playing golf, gardening and traveling. She was a member of Indian Springs Country Club. Row always put others first. To the world she might just be one person, but to one person she was the world. A very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great friend. PHARO, GALE FRANKLIN - Mr. Gale Pharo of Monroeville, Alabama, USA passed away on December 8, 2003 in his 77th year at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, after a short illness. He is survived by his children, Paul (Patti) of Lethbridge, Alberta, Christopher (Cathy) of Cornwall, P.E.I., and his daughter Cynthia (Mark Phinney) of Quispamsis, N.B. He is predeceased by his loving wife Anne (Nielsen) of New Denmark, N.B. Gale, an only child, was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec and attended Bishop's University. He would go on to graduate from the University of Toronto with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Abitibi Consolidated Paper as well as Rothesay Pulp and Paper in Saint John for several years. His expertise and professionalism in the pulp and paper industry led him to relocations in Quebec, Newfoundland, Georgia, and eventually Monroeville where he settled for his retirement years. A quiet, private man, Gale was an avid reader in his spare time and had a passion for collecting coins and stamps. He was most proud of his grandchildren; Nicholas, Rachel, Meredith, Brooke, Megan, Michael and Kyle. He will be sadly missed by his coworkers, friends and family. Memorial Services will be held in Monroeville, USA and St. Paul's Anglican Church in Charlottetown, PEI. RANKIN, Eleanore, It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Eleanore Isabel Rankin on December 9, 2003. Eleanore was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Edith Retallick. Born in Elizabethville, Ontario, Eleanore became a teacher in several rural schools before her marriage in 1944 to her beloved husband, McKinley. Together, in a loving marriage of almost sixty years, Eleanore and McKinley lived and raised their family in Madoc, Belleville, Fort William and St. Catharines. Elean ore was the cherished mother of Murray, Marilouise, Helen, Jennifer Margaret, and Joyce. She was the caring mother-in-law of Linda Hannah, Bruce Raham, Alan Andison, and John Gross. Eleanore was the proud grandmother of Ben and Mark, Lauren and Josep h, Caitlin and Aleigh, Elizabeth and James. Eleanore is also survived by her dear brother Reid Retallick and his wife Eileen, of Millbrook, Ontario. Eleanore's life will be remembered for her love of family, friends, and neighbours, and a dedication to her church and community. Earl Percy Jones (1913 - 2003) CLAIRVILLE, NB - Earl Percy Jones of Clairville passed away at home on December 9, 2003. Born in Grangeville January 29, 1913, he was the son of Rupert and Beulah (Colpitts) Jones. He will be sadly missed by his four sons, Carle (Helen), Clairville, Ron (Mae), Fitchburg, Mass, Ray (Margie), Moncton, William (Maureen), Clairville; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; brothers, Claude and Don; sisters, Irma and Jean and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife, Maude; daughter, Barbara; two sons, Jim and Allen; brothers, Frank, Norman, Lloyd, Clifford and sister, Elsie. Earl was a member and Elder of the Clairville United Church, Adherent of the Presbyterian Church and a Baptist at heart. He was a building contractor and after retirement he was very active with his wood working up until the time of his death. Irving and McLellan Insurance before moving to Quebec where she resided most of her life, returning to New Brunswick in 1999. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Ann Pratt (Robert) of Randolph, NJ, Wendy Fraser (Darell Prefontaine) of Toronto, ON, and Cheryl Stanger-Barr (Scott) of Franklin, PQ; sister, Beryl Spencer of Rothesay; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Alicia, Richard, Gibson, Elise, Sam and Olivia; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Heather Dawn in 1952 and sisters, Nita Melick, Dora Swan, and Blanche Edgar; brothers, Dr. Arthur Edgar and Murray Edgar and a grandson, Jory Nadell. SUTHERLAND, DIANNE LIDA - The death of Dianne L. (Gibson) Sutherland wife of Eric Sutherland of Westfield Road, Saint John, NB occurred on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John daughter of the late H. Graham and Lida (McGeehan) Gibson, moved to Moncton in 1955, graduated from Moncton High School and Teachers College, Fredericton, NB, was an original member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra playing French Horn, taught in Saint John at Crescent Valley School, Princess Anne School and East Saint John Elementary retiring in June of 2000 after 34 years of teaching, was Church organist of St. Mary's Church, Waterloo St and later organist and choir director of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew's Church. In the fall of 1980 she became organist and choir director of St. James' Anglican Church, Broad St., a member of the church vestry for many years, member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists National Centre as well as an active member of the R.C.C.O. Saint John Centre, Dianne was also a chaperone for the Saint John Super Steel Pops Band for six years. She is survived by her husband Eric; daughters, Ann-Marie of Montreal, Jillian Wilkins (Greg) of Calgary, Caryn of Toronto; grand-daughter Kaitlyn Wilkins and two grand-sons; sister, Betty MacVicker (Gordon) of Saint John, a special aunt, Margaret Chipman of Saint John and several cousins, one niece and two nephews. On December 9th, 2003 at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital after a lengthy and difficult illness. Predeceased by his wife and best friend Zena. Will be dearly missed by his daughter Susanne Richter, her husband Bernard Latremouille, grandchildren Gabriel and Felix. Survived by his brother Hans Gerd Richter and family in Germany-a special thanks to his good friend, nephew and godchild Martin. Ernie will be sadly missed by the many who knew him and loved him over the years, and especially by his closest friends on Wolfe Island. It is with deep sadness that Ian's family announces his passing on December 9, 2003. Ian had a wonderful life and was grateful to his family, relatives and friends for sharing it with him. Ian was cherished and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine (Manion), his daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Dan Brown and his son and daughter-in-law Peter and Gayle Lewis. His granddaughters Shannon, Nina, Sarah and Leanne will always treasure the wonderful memories of their Grandpa. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Patrick Sr. and Rosalie (Van Tassel) Ryan. Marie was employed as a sales clerk with Birks Jewelers in Dartmouth, NS, until her retirement. She is survived by three brothers; Gordon E. (Lillian) Ryan, Patrick Jr. (Mary Jane) both of Saint John and Paul (Helen) Ryan of Halifax, NS, one sister Barbara Stewart of Saint John, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
