Frank L. Ermen 1915 - 2003 Frank L. Ermen, 88, of Moncton, passed away at K. E. Spencer Memorial Home on Monday, October 13, 2003. Born in Moncton he was the son of the late Frank & Bessie (Sarty) Ermen. He was retired and former owner of Moncton Window Cleaning Service. He was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church. Frank was a veteran of WW II having served in Italy with the Royal Canadian Army. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6 Moncton, he served as President of the Moncton Legion in 1963 and he also served as Past District Commander for Westmorland and Albert District of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a member of Air Force Vets Club, CN War Vets and the Moncton Press Club. He is survived by his wife Agnes (Hall) Ermen, three daughters: Carol of Moncton, Grace Wilson (Robert) of Moncton, Patricia Currie (Dan) of Saint John, NB. three sons; John (Jennie) of Moncton, Gary of Campbell River, BC. and Doug (Stacey) of Riverview, five grandsons, four granddaughters, two great-grand-daughters, two sisters; Annie Wood of Moncton, and Margaret LeBlanc of Montreal. one brother; Joe Ermen of Moncton and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by two sisters; Cylvinia and Mary and by two brothers: Charles and Sam Ermen. By request there is no viewing at the Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Bros. Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 11am with Father Bernard Sloan officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6 will conduct a veterans service Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 10:45 am at Tuttle Bros. Memorial Chapel. The family will be receiving relatives and friends in the reception room immediately following the funeral. Interment will be in Shediac Road Roman Catholic Cemetery. SMITH, Ella G. RN Jan. 23, 1908-Oct. 12, 2003 Ella Gertrude Smith, former Director of Nursing at Kingston Psychiatric Hospital (Ontario Hospital) and former active member of Zonta Club, Louise Rebekah Lodge #10 and several charitable organizations. E lla Smith and her good friend Mildred Blackadder were active promoters of the Zion Complex at 106 Pine Street. Later she became a resident, a member of the Board and continued her active participation at Zion United Church. Miss Smith was predeceased by her parents, Eva Emily Coulter and Arthur Thomas Smith, her sisters Lena Alton, Mamie Patterson and Aleda Ashley and one brother Charles Stewart Smith. She is survived by her loving nephew Russel Patterson his wife Sharon and their sons, Timothy, his wife Christine and daughter Carly, and Christopher Patterson. Russ and Sharon are grateful to Aunt Ella's friends from the Zion Complex, the staffs of Trillium Ridge and Rideaucrest Care Centres and her long-time friend Anne Brant for their lovi ng support and care. PEAR LINE (PEARL) MAE CONNON It is with great sorrow our family announces the sudden passing of Pearl on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. She was born June 19, 1932 in Rainy River, Ont. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 49 years, Tom; her special daughter, Val Marie; her daughter, Debbie; her son, Darren (Bonnie) of Winnipeg, Man.; and her daughter, Terri (Mark) Lalond of Kelowna, B.C. She also is survived by her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Shawn (Juanita), Alexandria, Jaimie, Ryan, and Brandon. She also leaves to mourn her brother, Almer (Evelyn) Godin of Rainy River, Ont.; sisters, Matilda Clarke of Fort Frances, Ont., Merle Lind of Sudbury, Ont., Irene Connon of Calgary, Alta., and Eleanor “Tiny” Sonstegard of Baudette, Mn.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Jane Godin; brothers, George, Emil, Wilfred, and Louis Godin; and sister, Yvonne Almers. She already is terribly missed by all who knew her. She touched our hearts with her wonderful smile and kindness. Pearl always had such a positive outlook on life and loved to socialize with family and friends, and was fondly known as “Dood.” One of her favourite pastimes was playing Bingo and travelling. Having many special kisses for “Gramma” is her special “little boy,” Carrington, who was a great companion for her and Dad. Murray James Reeves WALLACE, NS - Murray James Reeves, 74, of Wallace, NS, passed away peacefully at his residence October 11, 2003. Born in Richmond, NS, he was a son of the late Harold and Ella (Taylor) Reeves. He worked for the Canadian National Railway for 38 years, both in New Glasgow and Moncton. He was a member of the Wallace # 76 A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge and a member of St. John's United Church and the St. John's United Chuch Men's Club. He was also the treasurer at the Wallace and Area Museum. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening, enjoyed car racing and was an avid reader. Surviving are his wife, Irma (Langille); sons, Paul (Nancy), St. Andrews, NB, James (Lynda), Malagash; daughter-in-law, Nicole Reeves, Moncton; sisters, Evelyn (Don) MacLeod, New Glasgow, Isabel Trenholm, Malagash; brothers, Albert (Kaye), Kenneth (Joan), Malagash, Clifford (Pat), Westville, Malcolm (Cheryl), Malagash; grandchildren, Dylan, Hudson, Rebecca, Jason, Jocelyne; many neices and nephews. Predeceased by son, Jack; sisters, Loretta Dawn Reeves, Elizabeth Delrose Reeves; brother Winston; cousin, Joan Reeves. No visitation or funeral service by family request. DORSETT, Donald Graham (Member of the Corinthian Lodge #101, and the Scottish Rite) - After years of battling cancer, Don succumbed peacefully on Sunday October 12, 2003 in his 78th year at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Hospital Drive. Loving son of the late Harry and Elsie Dorsett. Beloved husband of Viola Kathleen Dorsett (Nee McLean). Dear father of Gail Clark and husband Allen and Jim Dorsett and wife Linda. Proud grandfather of Allison, Sarah (David), Amy (Billy), Crystal and Christopher. Survived by sister Mary Woods and husband Ken. Predeceased by sister Betty. Will be sadly missed by his niece Lisa and his many nephews, especially Tom. Don started his family business, Dorsett Refrigeration, 56 years ago in Peterborough. He was a long time supporter of youth in sports through his coaching and mentoring. Don was instrumental in organizing and participating in hockey tournaments, especially the Liftlock Atom Tournament. When not involved in sports, he enjoyed listening to big band music and thoroughly loved his family time at the cottage. Don had many supportive friends who will miss him deeply. NICHOLSON, ANDREW JOHN The death of Andrew John Nicholson of Fredericton, occurred on October 12, 2003 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was a son of Alton and Alice (Price) Nicholson. Andrew was a self-employed Heating Contractor and was very active with the Rivervalley Riders Motorcycle Club. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Angela Hitchcock (Brent) of London, ON and Alaina Nicholson of Fredericton. He was a member of the I.L.A., the Wharf Rats and Saint John Power Boat Club. He received the Order of New Brunswick Business Award Community Involvement. He was a benefactor of many charities involving children and minor sports. He is survived by three sons David (Mary Ann) and their children; Nathan, Silas and Julia, Mark (Lori) and their children; Katie-Anne and Marcus, Keith (Cindy) and their children; Lynda and Patrick, two daughters; Carol McMullin and her children; Matthew and Nicholas, daughter Kathy Rogers, daughter-in-law Cathy Thorne and her children; Ellen and Jason, son-in-law Roger Gallant and his children; David, Andrew and Jennifer, sister Evelyn Speight, cousins Mary Rita White, aunt Lillian Leore, sister-in-law Elaine (Totty) Mullin and several nieces and nephews. WILCOX, PHYLLIS ERNA - Phyllis Erna Wilcox, 87, of Deep Cove, Grand Manan, passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Sunday evening October 12th. Born in Seal Cove, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Rhoda (Foster) Nelson. Mrs. Wilcox was a devoted mother, an avid gardener and loved to work in her many beautiful flower beds around her home. She also worked for a short time as the assistant light keeper of Southern Head Light on Grand Manan, a member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church, and served as the Secretary Treasurer of the Sunday School for several years, and a member of the Womans Missionary Society. Mrs. Wilcox is survived by one daughter Elaine Maker (Rodger) of Deep Cove, one brother George Nelson (Geraldine) of Seal Cove, two grandchildren Andrew Maker of Seal Cove and Kevin Maker of North Head, as well as nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilcox was predeceased by her husband Forrest Sherwood Wilcox (1987), one sister Vera Fleet, and one brother Elgie Nelson. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Monday evening 7-9 PM, and on Tuesday 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th, at 1:00 PM with Rev. MATCHETT, ISABELLE C. (RN) Isabelle C. Matchett, RN, born to the late James "Frank" Clark and Dora (De Merchant) passed away peacefully on October 4, 2003 at The Halifax Berkley after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Catherine Lynn Matchett of South Lake, Texas, son Beverly Victor Matchett of Arlington, Texas, grandchildren Amy and Ian Matchett of Texas, Tyler and Kayla Matchett of Michigan, special nephews Stanley Klyza, Texas and Clark Klyza, California who grew up in the Matchett home, and sister Avis Baker of Victoria, BC, brother George Clark of Winnipeg, Manitoba and many nieces and nephews. Isabelle had an active life with many interests. As a resident of Dover, NH for 25 year she founded The Dover Children's Aid Society, and was a long term Member of the First Parish Congregational Church. When Isabelle, took up residence in Halifax in the late 1970's she became involved in the community as Friends of Halifax, VON Past President, Community Contact for the Widowed, President Pro Temp 1979-1980, Halifax/Dartmouth United Empire Chairwoman, Spencer House Friendly Visiting Volunteer and a Member of the St. Andrews Church (Coburg and Robie). Isabelle was predeceased by her husband Dr. Beverly Matchett, sisters Eleanor Klyza and Ardath Chaffey, and brothers, J. Frank "Junior" Clark, Merton Clark and Richard Clark. No visitation, by request, cremation has taken place under the direction of Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2032 Robie Street, Halifax, NS. A graveside service will take place Saturday October 18, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Miramichi Cemetery, Miramichi City, NB. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of ones choice.
