PEAR LINE (PEARL) MAE CONNON It is with great sorrow our family announces the sudden passing of Pearl on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. She was born June 19, 1932 in Rainy River, Ont. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 49 years, Tom; her special daughter, Val Marie; her daughter, Debbie; her son, Darren (Bonnie) of Winnipeg, Man.; and her daughter, Terri (Mark) Lalond of Kelowna, B.C. She also is survived by her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Shawn (Juanita), Alexandria, Jaimie, Ryan, and Brandon. She also leaves to mourn her brother, Almer (Evelyn) Godin of Rainy River, Ont.; sisters, Matilda Clarke of Fort Frances, Ont., Merle Lind of Sudbury, Ont., Irene Connon of Calgary, Alta., and Eleanor “Tiny” Sonstegard of Baudette, Mn.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Jane Godin; brothers, George, Emil, Wilfred, and Louis Godin; and sister, Yvonne Almers. She already is terribly missed by all who knew her. She touched our hearts with her wonderful smile and kindness. Pearl always had such a positive outlook on life and loved to socialize with family and friends, and was fondly known as “Dood.” One of her favourite pastimes was playing Bingo and travelling. Having many special kisses for “Gramma” is her special “little boy,” Carrington, who was a great companion for her and Dad. We are sending Mom to Heaven on angels’ wings with so much love and faith in God. We all feel so blessed to have had her in our lives. She will never be forgotten. We love you Mom, forever. MAISONNETTE-À l’Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus de Caraquet, le lundi 13 octobre 2003, à l’âge de 93 ans, est décédé Richard Blanchard, domicilié à Maisonnette. Il était l’époux en premières noces de feu Rose Cormier et en deuxièmes noces de Clara Godin. Il était fils de feu Ferdinand Blanchard et de feu Basilice Boudreau. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil un fils, Eric (Sonia Savoie) de Moncton; les enfants de sa deuxième épouse: Rose-Marie (Roland Savoie) de Grande-Anse, Jeannine de Dieppe, Murielle (Réginald Boudreau) de Maisonnette, Jean-Marc (Louise LeBreton) de LaPlante et Gérald de Montréal, ainsi qu’une petite-fille, Krystine. Deux soeurs: Virginie et Bernadette, ainsi qu’un frère, Ernest, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Blanchard était la dernière personne vivante de sa famille immédiate. Il était un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 14h, le mercredi 15 octobre, au salon LeGresley de Grande-Anse. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Théophile de Maisonnette, le mercredi 15 octobre, à 19h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. Heures de visites: le mercredi 15 octobre, de 14h à 16h et de 17h30 à 18h30. À la demande de la famille, un don à la Société canadienne du cancer serait apprécié. Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa, on Sunday, October 12th, 2003, aged 79 years. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Bartlett (nee Thompson). He is survived by his son Stuart of Ottawa, daughter Jane Clifton (Wayne) of Victoria, B.C., his grandchildren Sarah and Jaime, and his sister Helen Udell of Carbonear, NFLD. Sam was born in Brigus, NFLD, and resided in both Newfoundland and Ottawa during the past 25 years. He worked with the Federal Dept. of Fisheries for 39 years, was instrumental in creating the public gardens in Brigus, NFLD and completed extensive historical research concerning the arctic explorer, Capt. Retired, Bank of Canada, WWII veteran (RCAF). Died peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, October 13, 2003 at age 87 years, after battling many illnesses. Thomas is survived by Myrtle, his beloved wife of 57 years, and by son Robin (married to The Rev. Rhondda), and grandsons Ian (partner to Rachel), Tim, David and Blake. Tom never gave up. He was kind and considerate to all. Despite visual impairment he remained in tune with his family and with the wider world. MARION It is with great sadness that we announce that Marie Marion passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at her home in St. Ann's at the age of 100 years. She is survived by her four children Lucille Banda of Saskatoon, Aurore (Leon) Sanche of Marcelin, SK, Arthur Marion of Saskatoon and Fernand (Jeanne) Marion of Winnipeg, MB; 24 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren as well as one brother Donat (Evelyn) of Lively, ON; and two sisters Alice Ayotte of Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB and Bernadette Labossiere of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her loving husband Adelard in 1989; two daughters Alice in infancy, and Florence in 1971; a son in law Steve Banda in 1998 and daughter in law Geraldine Marion in 2001; three brothers Victor, Adelard, and Emile; three sisters Antoinette, Aurise and Yvonne; four grandchildren Harold Banda, Arthur Sanche, Barbara Marion and Lorie Marion. Marie was born May 15, 1903 in St. Jean Batiste, Manitoba, third oldest in a family of 10. Marie was only 14 years old when she lost her mother, and ably stepped into the role of surrogate mother to her younger siblings. She married Adelard Marion on November 23, 1920 and they shared 68 years of marriage. Marie and Adelard moved from Manitoba in 1929 to settle near Marcelin, SK. Here they farmed until later moving into the town of Marcelin where they lived until 1977. It was then that they moved to Saskatoon, making their home at Cosmopolitan Court, and then St. Ann's Residence. Marie moved in July 2003 to St. Ann's Home. She was involved in the Marcelin CWL and loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Marie truly believed that hard work never hurt anyone and she worked hard throughout her life, always busy sewing, gardening, and working alongside her husband on the farm. In later years, she enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, and visiting with her family and friends. Even at the end, although her body was getting tired, her mind was always sharp. She enjoyed hearing about family and especially treasured her many pictures of all the generations. Marie had a strong faith in the Lord, in the power of praying the rosary and spent many hours praying for her family. Marie had the wonderful opportunity in May of 2003 to celebrate her 100th birthday along with many of her family and friends. She was very proud of the fact that at 100 years old, she still lived in her own apartment and got to mass everyday on her scooter. Her birthday party was something she had looked forward to with such anticipation and she was so pleased to see everyone there who celebrated with her. Thanks to all of her caregivers, The Home Care staff who took such good care of her in her apartment, the staff at St. Joseph's Home during her respite stay; Dr. Shannon and staff on the Orthopedic Ward at St. Paul's Hospital during her recent stay there for hip surgery, and the wonderful staff at St. Ann's who provided her with care, compassion and support during the last months of her life; her family doctor, Dr. Nykiforuk who cared for her over many years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann's Senior Citizen's Village, 2910 Louise Street, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L8 or a charity of the donor's choice. Après un long et courageux combat, tu nous as quittés pour un monde meilleur. Ton courage et ta détermination ont été un modèle exemplaire d’inspiration.
