SR GEORGETTE PANTEL (SR MARIE AUGUSTINE) Soeur du Sauveur On October 10, 2003 at the Notre Dame Hospital, Sister Georgette Pantel, accompanied by her family and members of her religious congregation, surrendered her life to the Lord at he age of 76 years. Outre sa famille religieuse, S Georgette laisse dans le deuil ses freres Henri et Odile, Georges et Frances, Auguste et Yvonne, deux belles soeurs Henriette et Jeanne ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nieces. L'ont precedes dans la mort, son pere Jean Baptiste et sa mere Berthe, cinq freres, Germain, Maurice, Florent, Victor, Emilien, Charles et une soeur Marie-Ange ainsi que trois belles soeurs, Agnes, Julia et Etiennette. Georgette Marie Simone Pantel est nee a Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes le 27 septembre 1927. Elle fut baptise le 1er octobre par le Pere Antonio Champagne c.r.i.c. Sister Georgette attended St Adelard school until 11 years of age. In 1939 when her parents left the farm to move in town she completed her education at the village school. En 1944 Georgette entre chez les Chanoinesses Regulieres des Cinq-Plaies et y fait profession en 1947. Son interet pour l'education de la jeunesse a ete un facteur determinant dans le choix de cette communaute enseignante. Apres avoir gradue de l'ecole normale en 1954 S Georgette se consacre a l'enseignement pendant environ 41 ans oeuvrant a St-Boniface, Haywood, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, St-Lupicin, Somerset et St-Leon. Environ dix de ces annees furent de l'enseigment specialise. Vers la fin de sa carriere, elle consacre son temps a l'enseigement de la catechese a l'Institut Collegial Notre-Dame. Tout en enseignant S Georgette a ete tres active dans la communaute paroissiale: action catholique, formation des enfants de choeur, chant chorale avec les jeunes et adultes, a ete membre de nombreux comites oeuvrant dans la paroisse. Since her retirement in 1992 Sister Georgette served until recently, as pastoral care worker visiting and distributing communion to the sick. As a result, she often presided the prayers at the funeral chapel for the same persons she accompanied in their illness. Prayers for Sister Georgette will be at Adam's Funeral Home on Monday October 13, at 7:30 p.m. Liturgy of the Eucharist will be celebrated by Father Alphonse Bongo on Tuesday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. The Sisters of the Saviour and her family express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the doctors, nurses and personnel of the Notre Dame Hospital, and the devoted personnel of Maison Notre Dame, and to the palliative care workers who were so compasionate with Sister Georgette in her time of need. Edward Loughren et de feu Mme Marguerite Corrigan, demeurant à l’Auberge Joie de Vivre, autrefois d’Arvida. La dépouille mortelle est exposée à la Résidence funéraire Arvida 2048 Neuville, Jonquière (Ancienne gare) le jeudi 16 octobre 2003 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 22 h et le vendredi 17 octobre 2003 à compter de 9 h. Les funérailles auront lieu le vendredi 17 octobre 2003 à 11 h à l’église Ste-Thérèse et les cendre seront déposées au columbarium St-Dominique. ANNE FRENETTE Anne Frenette passed away suddenly at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2003. She was in good health, and lived in her own home at 904 Smith Ave. in Fort Frances until her passing. Anne celebrated her 90th birthday in Fort Frances, surrounded by family and friends, on March 23, 2003. Anne loved plants and gardening all of her life, and her prized petunias in hanging baskets were featured in the local paper on more than one occasion. Anne also loved to travel, and travelled to both coasts for weddings and visiting, as well as to the U.S.A. Equally loved and tended to was her immediate family of 13 children, 33 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Cards, presents, and gifts of money flowed over the years for every occasion, and only slowed down in the last couple years. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Onesime (Ony) Frenette on April 20, 1971. Anne is survived by her sisters, Julia Lansing of Whitby, Ont., Mary Benson and Peggy Martinson of Fort Frances, Ont., and Hilda McMahon of Kenora; and brother, John Lengyel of Fort Frances, Ont. She was predeceased by her sisters, Katie Loewen, Helen Smith, and Irene Alexander. Anne also was predeceased by three of her children, Margaret-Anne, Dennis (Denise), and Anita Jackson (Len). She is survived by her children, Donald (Rose deceased) of International Falls, Mn., David (Johannah) of Rocky Mountain House, Alta., Jerry (Aileen) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Bob (Diane) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Jim of Fort Frances, Ont., Rick (Joy) of Kenora, Ont., Susan Van Schaik (John) of Sidney, B.C., Bonnie Henson (Ken) of Bowser, B.C., Tom (Karen) of Nanaimo, B.C., and Cathy Docken (Tim) of Parksville, B.C. Anne also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she visited with and kept in touch with over the years. She will be missed by friends and family. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Fr. Ray Ronquillo will officiate, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances. Friends may visit Friday, Oct. 17, 2003 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. GEORGE COMEAU March 17, 1924-October 9, 2003 Suddenly on October 9, 2003 at the Victoria General Hospital, George Joseph Comeau passed away. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mabel and their children, Mark (Darcy), Lois (Dale), Tim, Nancy (Anthony), Jac, Jerry (Terry) and Karen (Ben); and his daughter Carol (Clarence). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Brett, Hogan, Savanna, Tabitha, Jacey, Rachael, Tayla, Vanessa, Olivia, Tara, Teagan, Ellen, Natasha, Danielle, Claire, Madeline, and Gabriel. He was predeceased by his first wife Nellie; his parents Calixte and Germaine; his stepfather Arthur Wise; his twin sister Georgette; and brother Arthur. George was born in La Salle, MB, enlisted for the Second World War and spent three and one-half years in the Navy. After the war, he worked at the Manitoba Sugar Plant for 41 years and retired in 1989 as the Chief Power Plant Engineer. He liked to sail his boat when at his cabin at Falcon Lake with family and friends. He also enjoyed 12 years of retirement with Mabel in Whiterock, BC. George took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and returned to Winnipeg about a year ago to be closer to his family and friends. A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who took care of him. HOLLAND, GEORGE ROBERT The death of George Robert Holland of Richibucto Road, husband of Viola A. (Somerville) Holland, occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Barker's Point, he was the son of the late Oliver and Tressa (Jordan) Holland. George was a farmer, transport driver, a night watchman for Irving Oil for 9 years, and a self-employed contractor. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt, and he also enjoyed attending auctions. In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his children, Robin Mockler (Doug) of Noonan, G. Robert (Bob) Holland of Penniac, and Marilyn Doreen Holland of Richibucto Road; brothers Howard (Violet), Hartley (Edwina), and Garnet, all of Barker's Point and Merritt (Judy) of Noonan; sisters Lillian Wilson (Bill), Annie Harris, Florence O'Neill ( Edward) and Doris Jamieson, all of Barker's Point, and Joyce Greer of Noonan; grandsons Jonathan Holland, Jody Christie, Sheldon Christie, Jason Christie, Jordan Mockler, Ryan Sprague, Jeremy Sprague, and Jared Briggs; granddaughters Stacie Dawn Briggs, Amanda Holland, and Kayla Sprague; a great grandson, Travis Briggs; and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by a son, Thomas; and a brother, Weldon. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 PM from the Noonan Cornerstone Christian Outreach. Pastor Dwight McCoy will officiate, assisted by Pastor George Corney. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Ricky Perley, John Flinn, Mark Christie, Ed Stafford, Karl Grant, and Randy Clark. SURETTE, Ann Marie-66, 95 Brunswick St., Yarmouth, died October 9, 2003, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, February 18, 1937, she was a daughter of the late John Reginald Saulnier and Hariette Vokes. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral, and Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Ladies Association. She sold regal products, and was an avid bowler in past years. Surviving are her husband, Ludger; daughter, Susan (William) Fevens, Hebron; Carol (Robert) Lowe, Yarmouth; sons, Gregory, South Chegoggin; Stephen (Kim), Yarmouth; brother, James (Eleanor) Saulnier, Lower Sackville; sister, Isabel Williams, Shelburne; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brother, Raymond; granddaughter in infancy, Alexandra. Remains are resting in Sweenys Funeral Home, Yarmouth, with visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. and prayers at 8 p.m. Sunday. Bertha M. LeBlanc SHEDIAC, NB - Bertha Marie LeBlanc, 89, wife of the late Patrick LeBlanc (1949), of Villa Providence, Shediac, formerly of Moncton, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003 at her residence. Born June 2, 1914 in Irishtown, she was the daughter of the late Philippe, and Marie-Anne (Cormier) Boudreau. Bertha was employed with Canada Post before her retirement. She is survived by her nine children: Evelyn Girouard of Moncton, Andrea Drummond (Dave) of Truro, Phyllis Cormier (Raymond) of Dartmouth, Billy (Jeannette), and Bobby (Betty) of Dieppe, Lenny (Linda) of Lakeville, Tommy (Nicky), Philippe (Linda), and Donald all of Moncton; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a sister Laura Arsenault; brothers: Blair, Leo, Buddy, and an infant daughter Anne-Marie. Remains resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, Monday from 3 PM until time of departure (3:45). FOUGERE, Ambrose A.-80, Havre Boucher, Antigonish Co., passed away October 9, 2003, at home. Born in Frankville, Antigonish Co., he was a son of the late Captain Dan and Charlotte (Levangie) Fougere. He was employed with the CNR as station master for 33 years, until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of St. Paul's Men's Club for many years and served as it's president. He was a member of St. Paul's Parish choir for over 50 years and a member of the Third Order of St. Augustine. Ambrose loved music and entertained people for many years with his singing, step dancing, whistling, guitar and piano playing, and with his favourite instrument, the violin. A veteran of the Second World War, Ambrose served with the Queen's Own Rifles and saw action in Belgium, France and Holland, where he was hospitalized for six months. He is survived by his daughter, Marlene (Scott MacKay), Waverley; son, Rick (Wanda), Havre Boucher; beloved grandchildren, Marlo and Rick MacKay, and Amber and Justin Fougere; sister, Sister Ada Fougere, CSM, Bethany, Antigonish; brothers, Sylvester, Frankville; Stanley, Havre Boucher; Gilbert, Linwood; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Peggy; sisters, Kathleen, Doris, Rita, and Stella; brothers, Arnold, Norbert and Seward. Visitation will be held today 7-9 p.m. and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's Centre, Havre Boucher. Funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 13, in St. Paul's Church, Havre Boucher, Rev. Alex MacLellan officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
