PETTIPAS, Raymond Edward-85, 19 Marie St., Lourdes, Stellarton, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 5, 2003, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, with family and friends by his side. Born in Thorburn, August 21, 1918, he was a son of the late William and Sarah (Kennedy) Pettipas. Raymond served in the Second World War with the 1st Canadian Corps, 8th Army and was involved with the liberation of Holland. Upon returning to Canadian civilian life, he worked at the Allen Shaft, Maritime Steel, Porter's Lumber Yard and the Odeon Theatre. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. Raymond was a devoted family man, well-known for his integrity, prayfulness, kindness, gentleness, hardworking and keen sense of humour. His love of life was reflected in his appreciation of nature. His gardening was always a great source of pleasure. He was an entertaining fiddle player and an avid storyteller. Raymond enriched the lives of all that knew him and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by son, Bernard Pettipas, Lourdes; daughter, Gena Dwyer (Ron), Trenton; grandchildren, Brian Dwyer, Winnipeg; Joanna Dwyer, Toronto; Kimberly Dwyer, Toronto; sister, Florence Dunn (Carey), Hamilton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle (McLean) Pettipas; brothers, Joseph Pettipas, Angus Pettipas, Wilfred Pettipas; sisters, Mary Pearl Walsh, Marjorie Rita Patriquin, Annie Mattie, Kathleen Bernard, and Theresa Steeves. His remains will rest in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton with visitation 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton, Father William Burke officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Building Fund or a charity of choice.

Abel came from a family of 16. Abel had a special way about him that touched the hearts of people who knew him. He was always there for anyone who needed his help. Abel talked from the heart and had a special spot in his heart for children. Many people were there for Abel both family and friends. The following people were a great support to him, Paul Lamoureaux, Cathryn Creed and Roma, Charlette, Chantal and Robert, Susan, Norman and Marsha. Abel spent his last week at the Pine Falls Hospital. The family would like to thank the Pine Falls Nursing Staff. All people are welcome to come to the wake at Abel's home. Glen D. Martel 1937 - 2003 The death of Glen D. Martel, age 66 years, of Riverview and Bel Air Beach occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2003 at his Riverview home. He was born in Alida, Saskatchewan. Following high school, he joined the RCAF where he was employed as a radio officer and later as a pilot. Upon retirement from The Canadian Forces, he joined Transport Canada in Moncton as a Civil Aviation Inspector, retiring in 1995. During his military career, he obtained BSc and MSc degrees from The University of Manitoba. He was active as an amateur radio operator, holding the call sign VE9GM. He was a member of the Moncton Area Amateur Radio Club, and a charter member of The Moncton Seniors Amateur Radio Club. He was a designated examiner on behalf of Industry Canada. Glen was a past member of the United Services Institute and a lifetime member of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. Glen also enjoyed hunting, cottage life at Bel Air Beach, traveling and had a great desire for learning therefore he loved reading. He is survived by wife, Rose-Marie (Goguen) Martel; daughters, Theresa (Robert) Finney of Sioux Lookout, ON, Sharron of Winnipeg; son, Trevor of Sioux Lookout, ON, step-daughters, Nicole (Richard) Roy of Sainte Marie de Kent, Christine (Gilles) Caissie of Cote Sainte-Anne; step-son, Marc (Lisette) LeBlanc of Moncton; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrea, Savannah, Ashley and Jeremie; mother-in-law, Irene Goguen (late Leonide); brothers-in-law, Ronald (Doris) Goguen of Bouctouche, Jacques (Ella) Goguen, of Moncton, Emery (Clara) Goguen, Francis (Mary) Goguen both of Bathurst and sister-in-law, Lucille (Paul) Breau, of Dieppe; and Achilla Martel of Surrey BC; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mertie (Burns) and Leo Martel, and infant son, Bradley; and a brother, Foster. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at The Riverview Funeral Home Wednesday October 8, 2003 from 2:00-4:00 pm & 7:00-9:00 pm The funeral service will be held at The Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 10:00 am with Joann Mallett officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Church. In Glen's memory, donations made to The Oncology Department, at the G.L. In loving memory of our Granny, mom, sister, aunt and friend, Cecilia Catherine Germaine, born to Michael and Regina Kobelsky on the family homestead near Carmel, Saskatchewan. Granny lived an ordinary life in an extraordinary way leaving us a legacy of love and laughter. She loved to play cards, walk, take the bus, dance, listen to old-time music and volunteer at the Friendship Inn Clothing Depot. She knit hundreds of pairs of children's mittens each year and gave them all away. We take pride in her work ethic and the fact that she worked 17 years at St. Ann's Home without taking a single sick day. She was a loving mother and grandmother. We will miss her laugh, her cooking, her generosity and her feisty spirit. Predeceased by her husband, Mike (1978); daughter, Sharon (1948); parents, Michael and Regina; sisters, Magdalena, Regina, Annie, Amalia, Mary, Minnie, Agnes, Frances, Lena and Rose; and brothers, Ben and John. Beloved husband of Alice, and father of Nora Stephens (Peter) of Edmonton, Nancy (Jan Trainor) of Victor ia, and Jan Hope-Burke of Toronto. Grandfather of Cybil and Coleman Stephens and Burke Dlouhy. Werk was a graduate of Upper Canada College in Toronto and went on to study and practice in the field of accounting. He lived in Napanee for over 50 years and made many contributions to that community, including serving as Chairman of the Hospital and School Boards, President of the County Historical Society and Finance Steward of Trinity United Church. Werk was a committed member of the Rotary Club, s erving as President of the Napanee Rotary Club in 1978 and joining the Oak Bay Rotary Club in 1995. He attended regularly up until his death and was recently awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship and sapphire pin for his generous support to the Rotary F oundation. He enjoyed his last nine years in Victoria where he pursued his interests in the theatre, the symphony and fine dining. Vernon Francis Lewis Captain Rtd, RCAF 1923-2003 CALGARY, AB - Vern passed away suddenly, but peacefully in his sleep, on October 3, 2003 while visiting family in Calgary with his wife Audrey. Vern was born May 5, 1923 on a farm in Salisbury, NB, the youngest of 10 children of Cory and Carrie Lewis. He served as a bomber pilot based in England in WWII and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He rejoined the RCAF in 1951 and served in Summerside, Greenwood and Comox, retiring in 1971. He flew "birddog" for the Flying Fireman and as a commercial pilot for Northern Thunderbird until 1981. He will always be lovingly remembered by Audrey, his wife of 56 years; their children: and grandchildren; Valarie and Elena of Victoria, Donna (Ry) Knight and Laura of Victoria, Patty (Grant Paradis) and Zachary of New Westminister, Kathryn (Keith) Brownsey and Philip, Duncan and Sophie of Calgary, Bruce (Anne-Marie) and Noah and Sam of Comox and Linda of Comox;sisters: Vivian Henry and Dorothy Mitton ;Brother, Victor, all in the Moncton, NB area. William (Bill) P. Parsons 1940-2003 William P. Parsons, 63, of Waterside passed away on October 6, 2003 at the Moncton City Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Alma on February 24, 1940 the son of the late Thomas and Irene (Hopper) Parsons. He was a retired Engineer and worked with School District 2 for over 30 years. Bill loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bird hunting. Mme Laurette Desrochers de Hull, est décédée le jeudi 2 octobre 2003, à l'âge de 101 ans. Elle était la fille de feu Félix Desrochers et de feu Edwige Landry. Elle laisse dans le deuil plusieurs neveux et nièces. Elle fut prédécédée par ses frères et soeurs. Il n'y aura pas de visites au salon, cependant un service religieux en présence des cendres sera célébré le jeudi 9 octobre à 11h, en l'église St-Raymond (secteur Hull), suivi de l'inhumation au cimetière St-Rédempteur (secteur Hull). SAINT-LÉONARD-À l’Hôpital Général de Grand-Sault, le dimanche 5 octobre 2003, à l’âge de 81 ans, est décédé Ludovic LaPointe, époux de Velma Deveau, domicilié à Saint-Léonard. Né à Saint-Léonard en 1922, il était fils de feu Emile LaPointe et de feu Nellie Cyr. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil quatre fils: Roger (conjointe Lorraine) de Moncton, Clermont (conjointe Ruby Bradbury) et Rhéal (Solange), tous deux de Saint-Léonard et Bertrand (conjointe Sylvie) de Saint-Jacques: cinq filles: Mariette LaPointe de Saint-Léonard, Laurenza LaPointe (Louis Aceti) de Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare, QC, Laurenna Michaud (Mathieu) de Moncton, Phyllis Albert (Jean-Pierre) de Saint-Jacques et Marcella LaPointe (Guy Michaud) de Saint-Léonard; 14 petits-enfants, cinq arrière-petits-enfants; trois frères: Robert-Gilles (Gladys) de Riverview, Georges-Emile d’Edmundston et Léo-Paul de Saint-Hubert, QC; trois soeurs: Renette LaPointe de Saint-Hubert, QC, Félixine Bijeau de Plattsburg, New York et Christine Moreau d’Edmundston, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. LaROCQUE Olga Irene Olga Irene LaRocque of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, October 5, 2003.
