1903 - 2003 At the age of one hundred years and fifty-three days at October House in Pointe Claire on Sunday May 18, after living twenty-three wonderful years at the Manoir Westmount, the longest resident in its history. A widow since 1965 of the late Jack Emms, dear mother of the late Barbara (Russ Smith), Beverley (Doug Pidduck) and Travers (Barbara Emms), wonderful grandmother of Terry, Allison and Greg Smith, Steve, Julie, Celia and Meara Pidduck, Tracey and John Emms. Great-grandmother of Paul, Alex and Emily Fenton, Madeleine Stymiest, Katrina, Semak and Taylor Emms. Sister of the late Claude Fairfeld. Thelma and Jack loved to travel, camp and entertain. She served on many community, church and hospital organizations in N.D.G., the West Island and Westmount. She was the seniors representative on the Westmount City Council. She visited every continent except Antartica and walked the Great Wall of China at the young age of eighty-four. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Westmount Park United Church, 4695 De Maisonneuve Blvd. West at 2 p.m. on Tuesday May 27, 2003. The family will receive sympathies one hour before the service. Refreshments will be served in the church hall after the service. KELEJIAN, Percy (Puzant), Born in 1910 in what was then the Ottoman Empire, Percy (Puzant) was orphaned during the "Long March of 1915". He was cared for by various relatives and an orphanage until coming to Ontario as a "Georgetown Boy" in 1926 and working for Dr. Harrison in Dunnville. He married Victoria Kamberian in 1933 who was also an Armenian orphan. They started their own business during the Depression in Toronto, a rug cleaning and repair business, Turco-Persian Rug Co. A doctor told h im he would die from stress, so in 1952 Percy sold out and retired to Grimsby. Percy passed peacefully, May 22, 2003 at Heritage Place, Virgil. He was predeceased by Victoria in 1976. He is survived by their two daughters Anita Meyers (George) and Li nda Kelejian; also two granddaughters Teresa Meyers Walling (Scott) and Tanya Meyers and friend Matthew Ronson. Dr. Donald Leslie Of Pointe Claire, QC passed away April 22, 2003, surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Doris Cairns. Cherished father of Linda (Pierre Pelletier), Leslie (Keith Field), and David. Beloved grandfather of Shauna (Jason Thompson), Cara, Rob, Paul, Karen and Micheal, and proud great-grandfather of Charlotte. Born in Saint John, NB in 1921, he was the son of Frank Leslie Vincent and Elsie Mabel Erb. He obtained his PhD in chemistry, taught at Acadia University, and then worked in research at the National Research Council in Halifax and later for Domtar in Montreal. Don was a lifetime member of the Baptist Church, first at Main St. Baptist in Saint John, and later at Lakeside Heights Baptist in Pointe Claire, where he was a trustee for many years. We will miss you. You will always be in our hearts. Funeral service was April 28, 2003 at Lakeside Heights Baptist Church, Pointe Claire, followed by interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. LEFAVE, Dorothy Mae (nee Johnston) 79 years. Released her spirit after a valiant and courageous struggle, Sunday, May 18, 2003 with family at her side. She is predeceased by her husband Emile (1988) and parents Mabelle (1992) and Mervin (1968). Dorothy is survived by her loving son Mitchell James, daughter Suzanne and husband Ted Hallewick, grandchildren Matthew, Kristen and Ryan Hallewick and loving sister Marjorie Lore and nieces Cathryn and Dorothy Joan. Dorothy was a mild and loving soul who has touched the hearts and lives of all who have known her; she will be missed. A special thank you is in order to all staff at Huron Lodge for their exceptional compassion and dedication to both Dorothy and her family. COUTURE, Jean-Paul (John) On May 24, 2003, John Couture of Edmonton passed away at the age of 62 years. John is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Annette; his children, Jackie (Trevor) Fairweather, and Danny (Nancy); two granddaughters, Krysti and Cassidy; his mother, Germaine Straumford; his mother-in-law, Marie Jeanne Chretien; four brothers, Denis (Pat), Pete (Adeline), Ray, and Bob (Gwen); as well as numerous other relatives and friends. John was predeceased by his father-in-law, Albert Chretien, in 1979, and by his sister-in-law, June Couture, in 1999. The family wished to express their thanks to the Doctors, nurses, and staff at the C.C.U. of the Royal Alexandra Hospital. KYLE BRUYERE September 28, 1973-May 19, 2003 In loving memory of John William Kyle Bruyere of Sagkeeng, MB. Kyle was a thoughtful, intelligent, caring young man who enjoyed telling jokes, playing guitar, going for walks and listening to music. Kyle had a good sense of humour, enjoyed life to the fullest and was very forgiving. Kyle will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Caroline Bruyere and Rick Johnston and his Dad, Bert; and also by his brothers, Harlan, Jeff (Sarah and Josh), Dwight and Burton and his special brothers, John, Jerry, Terry, Glenn (Deer Lodge Hospital), Lorne and Gordon (Wendy) Parisian; and sisters, Corrina Mentuck, Barb Riel, Diane Starr-Courchene, Joannie and family, Sharon and family; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Kyle will be especially missed by his nephew Josh. He was predeceased by his paternal grand-parents, William Charles and Angele Bruyere; and by his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Martha Prince. A big thank you to all the people who helped Kyle in his time of need, especially Mr. Todd Gittins who tried so valiantly to rescue Kyle from the Red River. McILREATH, George Earl A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 1:00 p.m. at James Reid Cataraqui Chapel (Counter Street & Highway #2) with interment at Cataraqui Cemetery for George Earl McIlreath who recently passed away in Thousand Pal ms, California. Earl, as he was known to most people, was born March 15, 1918 at Toyes' Hill, Ontario to Alexander McIlreath and Ethel Johnson. In 1942 he married Norma M. Brown of Kingston, Ontario; deceased in 1977. In 1978 he married Elona (Kelly) Z. Kalynchuk of Banff, Alberta, who survives. Also surviving, a son Dr. Ian A. McIlreath of Calgary, Alberta and his wife Susan, a granddaughter, Melissa A. Wilcox and husband Terry of Calgary; a grandson Sean A. McIlreath M.D. of Belleville, Ontari o and his partner Janet Keating; a sister, Mabel Geggie, Brockville, Ontario; a step-son, Philip Kamenka, Vancouver, British Columbia; a step-daughter Lynn Lee, Osoyoes, British Columbia; a step-granddaughter, Jessica Lee, Regina, Saskatchewan; broth er-in-law Earle Brown and Francis, Kingston, Ontario, sister-in-law, Vera Brown, Kingston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario and the United States of America. Earl McIlreath worked 35 years at Alcan's Kingston Works and 7 years at Al can-Prices' Extrusion Plant in Calgary. An avid golfer, crystal collector and vegetable gardener, he enjoyed spending his winter retirement months in Hawaii and California. His dry humour, modesty, determination and love will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
