Survived by sister Irene Tomlinson of Regina; 3 'noisy children': Joanne (Sveinn) Helgason, Bill (Jeannie) LaCoste, Michelle (Bob) Labossiere; 6 'unique' granddaughters: Charlene Mael, Danielle Helgason, Signe (Simon) Thorp, Jerrylynn (Shawn) McCann, Cherylee LaCoste & Vanessa Labossiere; 6 incredible great-grandchildren: Sabrina & Ryan Mael, Connor & Cullen McCann, Evan & Anders Thorp; and the-damn-dog Chile (that's another story!). Predeceased by parents Julius & Clara Qualey, granddaughter Nicole Helgason, husband Hector, siblings Blanche Qualey, Margaret Iden, Ed Qualey & Lou Qualey. Raised in Wilcox SK, Kay received her R.N. training at Providence Hospital, Moose Jaw SK graduating in 1937. She met Hector while working in Estevan SK. They resided in Indian Head SK & Saskatoon SK before moving to Vancouver in 1956 where she worked at Grace Hospital. Our thanks to Dr. P.A. Watson of North Vancouver, Dr. Sheehan & staff at the VGH Cancer Clinic, and the incredible staff & volunteers at Lions Gate Palliative ward. A special thank you to Joanne who guided us through this challenging journey. Kay is at peace now, and is surely enjoying a game of hand & foot canasta with her heavenly family. Peacefully at Bronson Place, surrounded by her friends and extended family, on Sunday, March 23, 2003. Doris was the only child of the late Herbert Brown and Elizabeth Cecile and is survived by many cousins and caring friends. She died in her 90th year and lived a long and full life. Doris enjoyed her career with the Department of National Defense-DCP Air, where for 38 years she was a loyal and productive employee. Special appreciation and heartfelt thanks go out to each of the Private Duty Health Care Support Team, as well as each member of the staff of Bronson Place, all of whom contributed to Doris' quality of life. The care, companionship and spiritual sustenance provided by all has been a great comfort to Doris and to her family and friends. DELLELCE, Rachelina (Nee Masciangelo) In loving memory of Rachelina Dellelce (nee Masciangelo), 90 years who passed away Thursday evening, March 27th, 2003 at the Extendicare-York. Rachelina (Masciangelo) Dellelce born September 12, 1912 in Fossacesia, Chieti Italy. Lina came to Canada by boat during the war at 3 years old. When Lina arrived in Sudbury she lived on Kathleen Street. She started to work as a young girl at her family’s boarding house, which is now known as the International Hotel. Lina got married at 17 years of age to Tom Dellelce Sr. A very ambitious woman, she volunteered for many years for the Saint John Ambulance. She built many homes in the West End and Donovan area as well as in the United States. She was responsible for sponsoring many Italian immigrants to Sudbury - assisting them with jobs and homes. She was a founding and life member of the Caruso Club Ladies Auxiliary. Lina and her husband started up a towing company, garage and wood & coal businesses, where her young family began to work together. In 1963, she built and operated the Sorrento Hotel on the Kingsway. She was known as "Mama" and she was famous for her pizza. Her warm hospitality that she extended to all of her customers and friends demonstrated how she enjoyed her days at the Sorrento Hotel. Her past experiences gave her the courage as a young career woman to develop a hotel on undeveloped land, which we now call New Sudbury. The Sorrento was popular because of the well known entertainers which performed there including, Bobby Curtola, Wayne & Schuster and Liberace to name a few. It was rare to see a woman entrepreneur accomplish these ventures. She paved the road for other women setting an example of her determination in being the driving force behind many business operations. Her work was her hobby - she enjoyed it! Her strong Italian roots is evident through her closeness with her family. Her family is proud of her life time achievements. Beloved wife of Thomas Dellelce predeceased 1975. Loving mother of Nicholas Dellelce (wife Diane predeceased), Thomas Dellelce (wife Theresa), Genevieve Zanetti (husband Eddie), Peter Dellelce and Teresa Olivier (husband Alex predeceased) all of Sudbury. Loving Nonno of Mariah and Nolan Johnson of Oakville. He ws the dear brother of the late Emilia Dalle Sasse (1947), Remiro Dalle Sasse and his wife Tosca of Gallipoli, Lecce, Italy. Son-in-law of the late Giovanni (1972) and Angelina (1966) Perri. Brother-in-law of Pierina and Francesco (1975) Perri, Giuseppina and Michele (2002) Domanico, Marietta and Silvio Domanico, Gaetano and Lina Perri, Ida and Giovanni (1957) Bruno, Assunta and Annibale (1990) Chiesa, Joe and Rina Perri, all of Thorold and Eva and Frank (1995) Di Maria of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Also surviving Larry are 31 nieces and nephews. Larry immigrated to Canada in 1951 and earned his certificate as Tool and Die Maker and worked as one for 37 years. Being with children of all ages brought him the greatest joy. Larry will always be remembered for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone. He will be greatly missed. WAZNY, Martin, "Mark" In loving memory of Martin "Mark" Wazny, 81 years of Sudbury who passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 26th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Born in Manitoba and married Grace (Kimberley) in 1948 in Gravenhurst. Martin came to Sudbury in 1956 from Gravenhurst. He was a miner at the Levack Mine for 16 years when he was injured at the workplace taking a disability pension in 1972. A proud Canadian he had served in the Canadian Army during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br #553 Chelmsford. An excellent golfer he was a charter member of the Chelmsford Golf Course. An avid gardener in his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed socializing with his friends at the Croatian Club. Mark was always quick to help others. He will be remembered for his good sense of humour which he generously shared with all who knew him. Mark was very supportive of his family and he took great interest and pride in their activities and accomplishments. Beloved husband of Grace (Kimberley) Wazny of Sudbury. Loving father of Ken of Hythe, Alberta, Patsy (husband Danny Rebellato) of Kamloops, B.C. and Sharron of Windsor. Cherished grandfather of Curtis, Anna (husband Trent), Sheila, and Betty; great grandchildren Michael, Devin and Madisyn. Dear son of Martin and Anna Wazny predeceased. Grandfather of 17 (2 predeceased Chad Cardinal May 29th, 1988 and Baby Candice Massicotte February 21st, 1991). Great grandfather of 16. Dear son of Emery and Marie Louise both predeceased. CONDON, Patrick Harold In loving memory of Patrick Harold Condon, who passed away on the afternoon of March 24, 2003, peacefully and quietly at his loving daughter’s home in Toronto. After joining the British Forces, he did a tour of duty in Burma. Patrick married his beloved Miriam (predeceased) on October 16, 1948 in Chadwell St. Mary, England. "Paddy" and "Miggy" are now back together. Patrick was educated in England and in his younger days he worked as a policemen, sailmaker, baker among other professions. He eventually joined the Canadian Forces and left, with his family for Canada. After a medical discharge, he travelled to Ontario and joined the Ontario Ministry of Housing as area manager, first in Toronto and later transferred to Sudbury. He retired in 1987. He enjoyed sports, fishing and was a member of the National Masonic Lodge in Capreol. He is lovingly remembered by his children Patricia (Arnaldo) and Michael (Dawn), his grandchildren Daniel, Heather and Jakob and great-grandson Tyrek and special family friend and private nurse Ann. He is survived by his sister Ethel Reid (husband Tom, predeceased) in Florida. He is predeceased by his brothers Jack, Alfred, Michael, Peter and sister Alice.
