René nous a quittés, à l'âge de 83 ans, le 26 mars 2003, aux soins palliatifs du Centre de santé Cloutier-du Rivage. Archéologue, pionnier de la préhistoire mauricienne et homme de culture, René Ribes a fondé avec Gilles Boulet le Musée d'archéolo-gie, dont il a été l'âme durant plus de 30 ans, avant de contribuer à la mise en place du Mu-sée des Arts et traditions populaires du Qué-bec, avec ses animations d'archéologie expéri-mentale. (Soeur Saint-Pierre) Est décédée le 26 mars 2003, à la maison mère des Soeurs de Notre-Dame du Bon-Conseil de Chicoutimi, à l’âge de 84 ans, Soeur Elisabeth Tremblay (soeur Saint-Pierre), membre de cette Congrégation. Elle comptait 63 ans de vie religieuse. La Communauté accueillera parents et amis à la maison mère de la Congrégation 700 Racine Est Chicoutimi le vendredi 28 mars 2003 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 21 h 30. Le samedi 29 mars 2003, jour des funérailles, le salon sera ouvert à compter de 13 h et les funérailles auront lieu à 14 h au même endroit. Soeur Elisabeth quitte sa famille demeurant à La Baie, secteur Port-Alfred, en 1939 pour se consacrer à Dieu dans la vie religieuse. Elle s’adonne à l’éducation des jeunes de la région et de la Côte-Nord de 1941 à 1966 et de 1971 à 1979, soit comme enseignante ou directrice. En 1980, suite à des études en musique, elle dispense des cours privés à plusieurs élèves de Chicoutimi et des environs tout en rendant de nombreux services au sein même de la Congrégation. Elle était la fille de feu dame Arsélie Bouchard et de feu Pierre Tremblay et la soeur de Mariette Tremblay (feu Roméo Babin), feu Rita, n.d.b.c., feu Marie (feu Edmond Bouchard), Gertrude, Lucienne (Padoue Gagnon) et Marcelle. Elle laisse dans le deuil, outre les membres de sa communauté, plusieurs neveux et nièces. Que son âme repose dans la paix! He also had an extremely good sense of humour. He loved people and was always available to lend a hand. Bill was extremely adventurous and athletic. He enjoyed the joys of nature and attracted people by his warmth and sense of humour. We lost Arthur suddenly on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, as the result of a small accident in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was enjoying a trip with his lifelong companion and wife Alaine. He will be greatly missed by his loving family: wife Alaine (nee Axford), son Artie (Jennifer), daughter Cassandra Joanne (Jim Cooper), grandchildren Amanda Cooke, Spencer and Kyle Cooper, his brothers and sisters: Warren (Margaret), Frances (Tom Beaubiah), Selwyn, Phyllis (Roger Lane), Janice (Philip Tomset), Weldon (Janice), their respective families, mother-in-law Iris Axford, brother-in-law Donald (Beverly), sister-in-law Beverley (Charles Bennett) and their respective families. Arthur was a prominent successful business person, being one of the owners of Ice Equipment International, Kingston and formerly Capital City Ice, Ottawa, Lake Ontario Ice, Kingston and Maritime Ice in Moncton and Halifax. His cheerfulness and upbeat friendly nature will be a loss felt deeply by all family, friends and business acquaintances all over the world. BATHURST-Au Centre hospitalier régional de Bathurst, le mercredi 26 mars 2003, à l’âge de 64 ans, est décédée Agathe Boudreau, épouse d’Arthur Boudreau, domiciliée au 1125, Westwood Crescent à Bathurst. Née le 15 avril 1938 à Bathurst Sud, elle était fille de feu Réginald Lavigne et de feu Corinne Aubie. Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil une fille, Linda (Hilarya Amit) de New Glasgow; deux fils: Denis de Sainte-Anne et Pierre de Bathurst; un frère, Kenneth (Jeannette) de Bathurst Sud; deux petits-fils: René et Kyle Eric; une petite-fille, Dominique, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines, beaux-frères et belles-soeurs. Un fils, Jean-Claude, l’a précédée dans la tombe. Mme Boudreau a été secrétaire médicale au Centre hospitalier régional de Bathurst pendant 22 ans. Après sa retraite, elle a fait beaucoup de bénévolat au Centre hospitalier régional de Bathurst. Elle a été membre de United Comêmercial Travelers (UCT) et membre des Silver Heaven Cloggers. La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Chapelle funéraire Verret, 1717, promenade Sunset de Bathurst. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, avenue Saint-Pierre de Bathurst, le samedi 29 mars, à 11h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, plus tard ce printemps. Heures de visites: le vendredi 28 mars, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le samedi 29 mars, de 9h30 jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. Un don à la Fondation du Centre hospitalier régional de Bathurst (soins palliatifs), au lieu de fleurs, serait apprécié. BOUDREAU, Leandre J. "Leon"-1919-2003, West Porters Lake, passed away March 26, 2003 in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Memramcook, N.B., he was a son of the late Antoine and Eugenie Boudreau (Memramcook). Leon was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Merchant Navy. He was also a member of St. Anselm's Roman Catholic Church, West Chezzetcook and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He belonged to the Bricklayers Union No. 1, Halifax. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Elena (LeBlanc); children, Paul (Janet), Anthony (Edmeé), Dennis (Debby), Anne (Doug) Eisan, all of Porters Lake; stepson, Bobby (Donna) Ryan, Dartmouth; brother, Allain (Theresa), Memramcook; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Elizabeth "Betty" (Red) Hawboldt; 10 brothers; one sister. The remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anselm's Roman Catholic Church, West Chezzetcook, Father Johnie Matthews officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. GAGNE, Agnes Ethel On Monday, March 24, 2003 Mrs. Agnes Ethel Gagne of Spruce Grove, Alberta passed away at the age of 95 years. She is survived by three sons and two daughters: Charles (Myrna) Gagne and Ruth (Duncan) Schoepp of Stony Plain, Jerry (Verna) Gagne and George (Doris) Gagne of Spruce Grove and Fern (William) Andres of Sparwood, B.C.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie (Anne) Laight of Ottawa, Ontario and one sister, Helen Miller of Stony Plain, Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband, Napoleon Gagne on March 21, 1979. MONDOR, ANNA, Published: 03/28/2003 Willow Bunch, SK ANNA MONDOR (nee Weismiller) September 14th, 1914-March 25th, 2003 --A long time resident of Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan passed away at Fort Qu'Appelle Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Marcel, granddaughter Lynn, her parents Paul and Barbara, brother Jack and sister Pauline. Anna is survived by her children: Omer (Cathy), Marguerite (Gilbert) Prefontaine. Robert (Georgette), Dan (Jeannette), Rick (Karen); thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, also brother Frank (Mary), sister Betty (Maurice Raboud), as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Anna was born and raised in the Willow Bunch area. In 1938 she married Marcel Mondor. For the next twenty years most of her energies were devoted to helping her husband in various business enterprises and raising her children. In 1960, she acquired an Insurance Agency (Mondor Agencies), which she operated until her retirement in 1981. One of Anna's greatest enjoyments were her grandchildren-visiting with them and encouraging them in their endeavours. In her retirement, Anna enjoyed travelling with her sister Pauline. Together, they visited many friends and relatives. Prayers will be held in St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church, Willow Bunch, Sask., Friday, March 28th, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. with Cecile Dolorme officiating. Née le 24 avril 1910 à Pointe-Brûlée, elle était fille de feu Alexandre J. Robichaud et de feu Elizabeth Boudreau. Elle laisse dans le deuil trois soeurs: Olivina (feu Docithé Mallet), Anne (Lorenzo Mallet) et Rita (Rhéal Cormier), toutes de Shippagan; un frère, Mgr Donat Robichaud de Shippagan; trois belles-soeurs: Berthilde Robichaud (feu Raoul) de Shippagan, Yolande Robichaud (feu Antonio) de Bathurst et Thérèse Robichaud (feu Gérard) de Charlesbourg; un beau-frère, Charles St-Onge (feu Gratia) de Mont-Carmel, QC, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines, amis et amies. Trois frères: Raoul, Antonio et Gérard, ainsi qu’une soeur, Gratia, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. Mme Robichaud a été une éducatrice reconnue et une organiste dévouée pour la paroisse Saint-Jérôme de Shippagan pendant de nombreuses années. La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Maison funéraire Bulger de Shippagan. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Jérôme de Shippagan, le samedi 29 mars, à 14h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, plus tard ce printemps. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Dorothy Resmer (Elmer), Pembroke, Gail Scharff (late Robert), Greely, Bert Eggens (Sheila), Greely, Janice Eggens (Michael), Ottawa and Dave Baird (Bonnie), Fredericton. Much loved grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother to 14. Sister of the late James Harrod and Marion Lang of Sault Ste. Marie. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Ottawa, Nova Scotia and British Columbia. Following her retirement from Loebs she enjoyed 11 wonderful years working as a tour guide for Ottawa Valley Tours. Pearl contributed countless hours to her community during her lifetime. She was the sole inspiration for the Elder Abuse Program Video which has been widely distributed throughout Canada and the U.S. as a teaching tool. Devoted life long member of All Saints Anglican Church, Greely, Rebekkah Lodge, Osgoode Branch, Greely-Manotick Station Womens' Institute, the Greely Friendship Club and more recently as a cherished member of St. John's Anglican Church, Westphal, Nova Scotia. (nee Davis) T.O.S.M. Born July 7, 1912 At Laurier Manor, Ottawa, on Tuesday, March 25, 2003. Predeceased in 1991 by Jim, her husband of 54 years. Treasured mother of Joan and Wendy; adoring and cherished Grandma of Devon James Latte. Survived by sisters Mary ("Toots") Lennie, Rita Clifford, Helen McEwan and Bernadette ("Bunny") O'Driscoll and by brother Joe Davis. Juliette lived for several years in Halifax, where Jim was first posted with the Royal Canadian Navy, before returning to Ottawa. She retained a love of the ocean and visited Nova Scotia many times during her retirement years. Juliette's true passions were her family and her religion, studied and practiced faithfully throughout her life. She was a talented seamstress, designer and creator of dance costumes, and was renowned for her specialty cakes and pastries. Jewell had a particular fondness for children and dogs. She was an active volunteer at her daughter's schools and in children's church groups; and campaigned tirelessly on behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. A well read woman, Jewell enjoyed debating the issues of the day. She was a pillar of strength and an endless source of encouragement to all. We are blessed to have this remarkable woman as our Mother and Grandmother. Heartfelt thanks to the 3rd floor staff, Laurier Manor, and to Dr. Dickson, for their gentle care and many kindnesses. She is survived by three daughters, Annette Volpicelli (Joseph), Bernice Smith both of Bouctouche, Lucille Gagnon (Jean-Paul) of Saint-Antoine de Kent; four sons, Yvon Maillet (Fernande), Emerie Maillet (Debbie), Aubrey LeBlanc (Simonne) all of Bouctouche, Donald (Anna) of Canton, Mass.; six sisters, Irène Collette (Lionel), Hélèna Maillet (Antoine) both of Bouctouche, Doris Maillet of SaintAntoine de Kent, Marie-Jeanne Topolnisky (Max), Anita Poirier both of Sudbury, ON, Aline Roy of Moncton; three brothers, Patrick (Zella), Alcide (Jeanne) both of Bouctouche, Clorice (Yvonnise) of Moncton; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Stella (84); one sister, Exelda (82); two brothers, Alonzo (2002), Aquila (2003). He was such a funny guy that picked you up whenever you were down, made you laugh when you really didn't want to, and before you knew it, all was right with your life. MARTIN, Roy, A. - April 23, 1912 - March 21, 2003 - At the Au Château Home for the Aged, on Friday, March 21, 2003, in his 91st year. Survived by his dear wife and partner for 67 years, Frances (née Laflèche). Loving father of Margaret (Claude Lalonde) and Jack D. Martin (Jane deceased). Dear grandfather of Micheline (Terry Trottier), Marc Lalonde (Joan, deceased), Robert Lalonde (Maria), Kendra Jill Forest (Alain) and Jason D. Martin (fiancée Anne Kirik), and great-grandfather of Stéphanie, Taylor, Bailey, Danielle, Corey, Joey and Alexandria. Predeceased by his parents, Captain J.E.S. Martin and Margaret Martin (née Simpson) and by one sister, Helen Reavely (Stan, deceased). Mr. Martin was a life member of the Sturgeon Falls Masonic Lodge No. 447, which in May 20, 2003, would have been a member for 70 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in Reno, Nevada. He was a life member of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), from whom he was presented with a certificate of award for a lifetime of Prospecting Excellence on March 30, 1992. It was in March 1999, that Mr. Martin was presented with a special achievement award for his long term service & dedication to the Mining Industry for discoveries in Canada, U.S.A., Mexico and Australia. He was presented with a permanent Prospectors Licence from the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development & Mines. Mr. Martin was as well a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining (C.I.M.) and a member of (COPA) Canadian Owners & Pilots’ Association of Canada during which time he had owned and piloted three aircrafts with over 10,000 hours of flying to his credit. Roy and Frances had lived in many countries such as, Canada, United States, Mexico and Australia, which allowed them to travel around the world five times, visiting more than 70 countries; many of them more than once. He often told many wonderful stories of his travels and adventures; one of his favourite sayings was "get a job you like then it becomes fun and you won’t mind to do the work". He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends around the world. His family gratefully thanks Sue Moon and the staff at Au Château for the loving care he received. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and a private service will take place at a later date to celebrate his life. Unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2003 in her 37th year. Beloved daughter of Keith D. Leonard (Brenda) and Judith Atterbury (Michael). Loving sister of Scott (Karen) and David Leonard. Cherished granddaughter of Marjorie Seale. Also survived by aunts Joanne Cragg (Ross), Janet McDiarmid (Lloyd), uncle Grant Leonard (Jean) and step-brothers Colin (Bobbie) and Brian (Kim). A Memorial Service will be held at St John's Anglican Church, 325 Sandhill Road, South March, Kanata on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 2 p.m. For those wishing, a donation to the charity of their choice would be appreciated.
