DONNA IRIS VANDALE (nee SUTHERLAND) Peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital Donna Vandale passed away at the age of 63 with her family by her side. Donna was born in Winnipeg on September 4, 1939 to Donald and Evelyn Sutherland (nee Jackson). She attended school at Earl Gray, Norberry and Glen Lawn. She worked in the Eaton's Credit Department until the birth of her first child, during this time she also volunteered as swimming instructor, guard at St. Vital YMCA. Donna later joined the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation Department in 1976 and retired in September of 2000. Donna was very proud of her Scottish Heritage. Donna will be lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of her loving husband Bob Vandale, her children, Michael (Sharlene) and Tim (Joanne); as well as her precious grandchildren, Danick and Sophie. Donna is also survived by her twin sister Lynn Fraser, brother-in-law Roger (Jeanine), sister-in-law Theresa (Mike) Kreitz, and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by both her parents, Donald and Evelyn Sutherland; and a brother Marshall (Skip) Sutherland. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their patience and compassion during this difficult time. KERNOT, Richard Arthur March 8, 2003 at Kingston General Hospital After a 19 year courageous, continuous battle with doctors for a better quality of life, Rich lost the fight. And in the loving arms of his mom and dad, surrounded by family and friends with broken hearts, Rich freed himself from the pain. His beautiful, wise, courageous spirit left his feeble, tortured body and soared on angel's wings to pursue his lifelong passion in the biggest wrestling ring in heaven. Where now he will get tomeet with one of his favorite wrestlers - Owen Hart. Please take care of our precious angel Owen. Show him the ropes and prepare him so that he may continue his dream of becoming a pro wrestler in his next life as he was unable to in this short lifetime. Rich's love for life, his unending strength and courage touched the hearts of many souls. He will be forever remembered and sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. JONES, Gary William, Suddenly on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at St. Catharines General Hospital, at the age of 61 years. MARTIN, Peter Kernahan, Peacefully, after a long struggle on Monday, March 24, 2003 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Peter quietly passed to join Dorothy on his continuing journey. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy (June, 2002), Peter is lovingly survived by daughters Carol Watson (Lindsay) of Mississauga and Judy Munson (Brian) of Midhurst and loving Grandpa to Sean, Jessica and Ryan. Also surviving Peter is his sister Etta and brother-in-law Blake Lane of Vineland. Peter was born February 3, 1927 to Cletus and Margaret Martin, an established farm family in Vineland. Despite his physical disabilities from birth Peter managed to work the family farm all his life until his retirement. He was a graduate of the University of Guelph (O.A.C) and it was in Guelph that Peter met his sweetheart Dorothy and they married. While farming life was full of hardships, Peter and Dorothy managed to take many trips and until the past year Peter was always happy to simply go for a drive in the county and see the many farms and sites in the Niagara Peninsula. In December 2002 Peter moved to Sara Vista Nursing Home in Elmvale to be closer to immediate family and in February moved to the Royal Victoria Hospital. The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King st. on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 27th at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Vineland Cemetery and a reception will follow. Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Kevin passed away peacefully at his Ottawa home on Sunday, March 23, 2003. Born in Cork, Ireland on November 13, 1939 he emigrated to Canada in 1963. As a young man he was educated at Jesuit College of Clongowes Wood in County Kildare, later graduating from University College Dublin. For most of his professional career Kevin worked in the telecommunications field, first with Northern Telecom and then as a private consultant. Kevin is best characterized as a person with a tremendous thirst for knowledge and love of learning. This was never more evident that in the final weeks of his life as he debated the world around him and as always, rendered thoughtful opinion. He was a compulsive crossword enthusiast, a voracious reader, a critical listener of music, and his love of travel prompted visits to various locations around the globe. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Toronto), sisters Detta, Baroness O'Cathain (England) and Mary-Claire Ward (Toronto), brother-in-law Sandy, and nephews David and Robin. He was predeceased by his father Caoimhghin and his mother Margaret. At Kevin's request there will be no funeral service. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, May Court Residential Hospice, Cathy Langtry of the VON, special nurses Diane Turner, Charlene "Charlie" O'Dougherty and Marg Graham; Doctors Neil Rogers, Louise Coulombe and Claire Kendall.
