Barbara Idelle Sigsworth She was born Barbara Idelle Cowdy on June 05, 1932, to Clara Martin and Arthur Cowdy in Yarker Ontario. She had two older sisters, Phyllis (Reginald Bruce) and Audrey (Reggie Spooner). eventually, the family settled in Harrowsmith. Barbara attended Harrowsmith Public School and graduated from Sydenham High School. She began her study of the piano with the Sisters at the House of Providence in Kingston and completed her degree at the Toronto Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She became a certified elementary school teacher by attending Toronto Normal School and taught at Wilton, Loughborough and Tyendinaga. She continued her musical studies enrolling at the Western Conservatory of Music in London, Ontario and in 1957 was awarded the gold medal in voice for solo performance. In 1952 she had married Ken Sigsworth of Harrowsmith. The couple had three children, Beverly Anne, Chuck (Kim) and Michael (Maryse) and five grandchildren, Shannon Tobey, Robin Tobey, Derek Sigsworth, Amy Sigsworth and Amanda Sigsworth. In October 2002, they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Barbara taught private lessons in piano, theory and singing, was organist and choir leader at Grace United Church, Sydenham and sang with the Kingston Choral Society for many years. She died January 28th, 2003 from complications due to diabetes milletus. Following a private family funeral, she was buried in the family plot in Harrowsmith Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held Sunday, February 9th, 2003 in Grace United Church. Members of the clergy who officiated at both services were Reverend Dr. James Allman of Perth Road United Church, Reverend Nancy Clarke of Grace United and Jan MacPhail, associate pastor at Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church. A string quartette composed of violinists Marion Shatton and Melinda Collins, Keld Jensen, viola and cellist Jennifer Tindale with organist Carolyn Brown provided music during the service Another feature was a vocal duet rendered a cappella by Justine Thompson and Nyla Innuksuk. PREOCANIN, Marija It’s with enormous sadness the family announces the passing of Marija Preocanin, (nee Batinic) on Friday, February 21, 2003 at her residence, at the age of 77. Loving wife to Bozidar Preocanin (predeceased August 7, 2000). She was one of the most colorful rainbows of life. Loving Mama (Mother) to Bojana (Peter), Vasilija, Milka, Anka, George (Diane), Zorka (Daniel Prosser - predeceased December 18, 1999) and Dusan (Linda). A very special Babi (Grandmother) to Steven (Diane), Tracy, Chris (Nicole), David, Melissa, Brittany, Mathew, Zorisa and Zachary and great grandchildren Jacob, Makaila, and Malcolm. MARY LACHAINE Peacefully on February 19, 2003 at St. Boniface General Hospital Mary Lachaine passed away at the age of 81. She is survived by her daughter Helen Francis and son-in-law Gary; son Neil Lachaine and daughter-in-law Maureen; grandsons, Daryl (Susan) Francis, Derek (Tracey) Lachaine and Ryan (Amanda) Lachaine; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Sarah; also special friend Ellie Torgerson. Nana was born on December 16, 1921 in Ireland, and came to Winnipeg at the age of three. Nana lived most of her life in Weston and was employed by the Province of Manitoba, Department of Vital Statistics for over 25 years. Nana enjoyed knitting, reading and travelling, especially to Ireland and England. Nana's true love though was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she truly lived for. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and medical students of the St. Boniface General Hospital for their care and kindness. GAMBLE, REV. ROBERT EDWARD, Robert passed away peacefully at his home, RR 1, Odessa, on February 2, 2003 after a brief battle with cancer. Many family and friends paid him their last respects as he rested at the Scotland Funeral Home in Elgin. Rev. Earl Conly was the officiating clergy. Although born in Jones Falls, Rev. Gamble resided in numerous locations throughout his 35 years in the ministry. In addition to being a pastor and farmer he supplemented his income with cabinet making and construction work. During his 16 years of retirement he enjoyed flower gardening and restoring and refinishing furniture. Robert attended the Standard Church in Napanee with his wife, Vera O’Neil Gamble. Robert also leaves his sister Florence Schamehorn, his brother Elswood Gamble and his children Randy, Sharon Rice, Michele Brydges along with their spouses and children. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary, sisters Olive and Jean, and brother Charlie. Following the funeral service at the Seeleys Bay Standard Church he was placed in Morton Cemetery with Rev.
