She was a homemaker and a volunteer at Fairview Villa. She taught Sunday school and was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford. She was blessed with many friends and was a member of The Bedford Singers. Surviving are daughter, Diana (Vincent) Gerrior, Sackville; son, Laurie, Bedford; sister, Evelyn Moulton, Dartmouth; brother, Murray Pothier, Bedford; grandchildren, Deborah (Rob) Holmans, Dartmouth; Terrence (Denyse) Johnson, Sackville. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; sister, Kathleen Cobb. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 1216 Bedford Hwy., Bedford. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford, Rev. Rick Walsh officiating. A reception to follow in the church. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Surviving are sons, Patrick (Hilda), Etobicoke, Ont.; Cleve (Debbie), Ronnie (Wendy), both of Sluice Point; daughters, Becky (Roy) Doucette, Eileen (Jack) Shay, Melrose, Mass.; Sandra (Jimmy) Moss, Derry, N.H.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alcide Pothier; a son in infancy; brother, James; grandson, Michael. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today with prayers at 8 p.m. in H. M. BOURGEOIS, EMELA – Des funérailles ont eu lieu le 1er février, à 11 heures en matinée, à l'église Ste-Rita de Val Rita, pour Emela Bourgeois, domiciliée à Kapuskasing, décédée le 29 janvier 2003, à l'âge de 88 ans, au Manoir North Centennial de Kapuskasing. Elle était née le 10 septembre 1914, à Rockland, Ontario. Ménagère à la maison, elle et son époux venait tout juste de célébrer leur 64e anniversaire de mariage, le 18 janvier 2003. Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux Origène; 1 fille : Diane (Reg) Turner de Kapuskasing; 1 fils : Rayo (Claire) de Val Rita ainsi que 7 petits-enfants : Luc, Chantal, Alain, Kim, Michel, Craig et Tracy ainsi que 9 arrière-petits-enfants. Mrs. Bourgeois will be interred at the Val Rita Cemetery.

Elle fut prédécédée par 2 filles: Léonie (feu Pascal Joly) et Thérèse (feu Maurice Lemieux) et par 3 fils: Rolland (Reina Labelle), Rhéal (Ruth Coderre) et Gérard. Elle laisse également ses 52 petits-enfants, 47 arrière-petits-enfants et 16 arrière-arrière-petits-enfants. Elle fut prédécédée également par 4 soeurs: Priscille (feu Charles Vaillant), Eugénie (feu Philias Morin), Delphine (feu Paul-Emile Labelle) et Eva (feu Wilfrid Desloges); 4 frères: Ernest (feu Liticia Martineau), Alphonse (feu Rose Coderre), François (feu Rosa Pegeau) et Maurice (feu Rosa Cloutier). BASSO, Gildo Vincent In loving memory of Gildo Vincent Basso, 64 years of Coniston who passed away Sunday morning, February 2nd, 2003 at the SRH - Laurentian Site. He was born in Coniston. Married Rita (Arcand) in 1956 in Sudbury. A well known and respected Coniston resident Gildo had been a businessman in the Sudbury area and barber in Coniston for many years retiring in 2000 due to failing health. A Roman Catholic he belonged to St. Paul the Apostle Parish. An active member of his community he was a volunteer firefighter in Coniston; trainer for the Coniston Legion Blues. His son played on the team and they won the championship in 1971-1972. A Lions member for 30 years he lived the Lions motto "We Serve" in helping others. He served in many capacities within the club including president; he played Blooper Ball for many years and played competitive pool. He enjoyed skiing and golfing. He worked as a starter at the Idylwylde and Pine Grove Golf Courses, also he shot a hole in one at the Twin Stacks Course in 1997. Gildo had a great sense of humour which he generously shared with others even during the difficult days of his illness. The light of his life will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him. Beloved husband of Rita (Arcand) Basso of Coniston. Loving father of Rickey (December 13th, 2002) and Charlene (January 20th, 1976) both predeceased. Cherished grandfather of Kailey, Jordan and Brett all of Edmonton. Dear son of Luigi and Marie (Chezzi) Basso predeceased. Stella and Frank created Frank Bean & Sons Ltd., a well-known local garage which sponsored a championship ball team both in Capreol and The Valley. The business is still owned by family members, and is still running after more than 30 years. Lately she was involved with the Capreol Senior Citizen’s Club, hosting very popular picnics at her camp on Morton Lake. Stella was mother to six children but was Ma Bean to all the children who visited her house, rode her school bus, or went with the family on camping expeditions. Ma Bean will be greatly missed by "All Her Children" and all the people whose lives she touched. Born Saskatoon, Sask-atchewan September 12, 1920. Passed away peacefully in Toronto January 31, 2003 in his 83rd year. David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie (nee Parmiter), brother Donald (and Marcia), daughter Lesley (and Roy Savage), granddaughters Sarah (and Jose Luis Sanchez) and Amanda, and great granddaughter Avila. There will be no service. Interment of ashes will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery later this year. Friends wishing to remember David's life may contribute to ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation (1450 Don Mills Road, Toronto ON M3B 2X7) in recognition of his passion for the power and elegance of words. After graduation from University of Saskatchewan, David began his career in agriculture with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. In 1953 he moved to Ottawa with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, first as National Secretary and then Executive Secretary. He also served as Executive Secretary of both Dairy Farmers of Canada and Canadian Egg Producers' Council 1968-85. He retired in 1985. Throughout his career David provided leadership both nationally and internationally to a wide range of general economic and agricultural policies and programs through various bodies including Economic Council of Canada, Canadian Consumers Council, Canadian Council on Rural Development, Canadian Broadcasting League, C.D. Howe Research Institute and International Federation of Agricultural Producers. In recognition of outstanding service, David was awarded the Gold Medal by the Dairy Bureau of Canada, Certificate of Excellence Award by the Ontario Milk Marketing Board, Centennial Medal (1967), Queen's Centennial Medal (1975) and membership in the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame (1989). For over 40 years, David was a member of the National Press Club, where he and Elsie spent many happy hours with friends.

Andrew William McCallum TABUSINTAC, NB - Mr. Andrew William McCallum, husband of Heather (Morehouse) McCallum of 1677 Route 460 Tabusintac, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Tracadie Hospital, at the age of 48. Born in Tracadie, son of the late Guy and Allegonda (Jansen) McCallum. He was a Forest Ranger and a Farmer. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Tabusintac, member of Masonic Lodge # 17 F & AM. Member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 47. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Tina McCallum of Fredericton, Jody McCallum of Fredericton, Andrea McCallum of Fredericton; one son, Ryan McCallum of Tabusintac; one sister, Marilyn MacEachern (Ronald) of Tabusintac; two brothers, Ernest (Ruth) of Fredericton, Vincent (Georgie) of Upper Derby; one grandson, Thomas Breau. Mr. Andrew William McCallum is resting at St. Andrew's United Church, Tabusintac with visitation on Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. from the church with Rev. Duncan James MacDonnell VANCOUVER, BC - Duncan James MacDonnell, 47, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 29, 2003 in Vancouver, BC. Born in New Glasgow, NS, he was the son of Claire (Chisholm) MacDonnell and the late Honourable Hugh J. MacDonnell. Duncan was a graduate of Queen's University and Mount Saint Vincent University. He lived in Vancouver for the past 15 years and leaves behind many friends in British Columbia, Nova Scotia and elsewhere. Besides his mother, he is survived by sisters, Theresa Hannaford, Janice (Algis) Grajauskis, Calgary, AB, Joan MacDonnell (Steve Dunsiger), New Glasgow, NS, Mary Claire MacMillan Halifax, Anita (Rick) Erickson, Banff, AB, Helen MacDonnell-Miller (Bernie Miller), Riverview, NB; and brothers, John MacDonnell (Sherri MacDonald), Halifax, NS and Philip MacDonnell (Carolyn Morey), Bateman's Bay, NSW, Australia. Edmond Gray Edmond Gray, 90, of Moncton passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital. Born December 17, 1902 in StCharles-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Marcel Gray, and the late Florie Robichaud. He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Gray of Richibucto; several nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Eva (Maillet) Gray in 1989; sisters, Mina Daigle, Marie-Laure McDougall; brothers, Antoine, JeanBaptiste and Alfred. Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:50). DUNLOP, FRANK R. (BOB) - At Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Saturday, February 1st, 2003; Frank Robert (Bob) Dunlop, husband of Anne Dunlop of Quispamsis, NB. Born in Saint John, NB he was the son of the late Watson and Catherine (Wedge) Dunlop. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the PPCLI. Returning home from the war Bob worked for Canada Post as well as Revenue Canada and DVA. In addition to his wife Anne he is survived by his daughters, Mary Wright (Tom) of West Saint John, Catherine Downey (Donald) of Quispamsis, Sharon Middleton (Stan) of Westfield, Susan Martin (Kim) of Saint John, Linda Reid (Kevin) of Westfield, and son Bill (Karen) of Quispamsis, 12 grandchildren, Sherry, Jennifer, Tanya, Lisa, Derek, Jason, Kelly, April, Cheryl, Christine, Jeffrey, Kelsey and two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Ryan, brothers Kenneth of Montreal, Watson of Windsor, Ont, Bill (Pat) of Saint John, sisters, Mimi of Montreal, Phyllis (Cyril) of England, Ruth of Ottawa, Brenda (Jim) of Hudson, Quebec, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
