LA FAMILLE LEGROS a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de MADAME FLORENCE LEGROS NÉE SINCENNES De Ste-Cécile-de-Masham, décédée le dimanche 2 février 2003, à l'âge de 100 ans. Elle était l'épouse bien-aimée de feu Arthur Legros; la fille de feu Magloire Sincennes et de feu Clémence Coderre. Elle était la mère bien-aimée de Laurette (feu Donat Larocque), Lucille (feu René Legros), Georgette (feu Omer Larocque), Yvette (Raymond Corriveau), Rollande, Roger (Denise Sincennes), Hector (Suzanne Lavigne) et Marcel (Paulette Gervais). Elle fut prédécédée par 2 filles: Léonie (feu Pascal Joly) et Thérèse (feu Maurice Lemieux) et par 3 fils: Rolland (Reina Labelle), Rhéal (Ruth Coderre) et Gérard. Elle laisse également ses 52 petits-enfants, 47 arrière-petits-enfants et 16 arrière-arrière-petits-enfants. Elle fut prédécédée également par 4 soeurs: Priscille (feu Charles Vaillant), Eugénie (feu Philias Morin), Delphine (feu Paul-Emile Labelle) et Eva (feu Wilfrid Desloges); 4 frères: Ernest (feu Liticia Martineau), Alphonse (feu Rose Coderre), François (feu Rosa Pegeau) et Maurice (feu Rosa Cloutier). Elle laisse également de nombreux neveux et nièces. Un merci très spécial à tout le personnel du Centre d'accueil de la Basse-Gatineau pour leur soutien et les excellents soins prodigués à Mme Legros durant son séjour parmi eux. Un service religieux aura lieu le jeudi 6 février 2003 à 11h, en l'église Ste-Cécile-de-Masham. Heures de visites à la MAISON FUNÉRAIRE A. MELANSON, Mary Martina-98, Plympton, Digby Co., passed away February 1, 2003, in Tideview Terrace, Digby. Born July 31, 1904, in Plympton, Digby Co., she was the daughter of the late Ella Amero. She was completely devoted to her church, family and friends. Her generosity of herself and possessions were undeniable. She was a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Plympton, Digby Co., and a member of the Catholic Women's League. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine (Mrs. Steven Scott), Stittsville, Ont.; son, Thomas Melanson, Orangeville, Ont.; grandchildren, Ella, Sara and Jennifer. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Jean "Louie" Melanson. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 3 p.m. today, both in Jayne's Funeral Home, Weymouth North. Passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital on February 1, 2003 at the age of eighty-nine with his loving wife of thirty-four years, Luise, at his side. Dear father of Thor (Pauline) and Monica (Douglas). Predeceased by his first wife Josephine Cahill, brothers Alexander and Bruce and sister Eileen. Graduated in 1937 in the first class of Sir George Williams College in Montreal (now Concordia University). After graduating Norman had a 40 year career with Sir George Williams/Concordia. BASSO, Gildo Vincent In loving memory of Gildo Vincent Basso, 64 years of Coniston who passed away Sunday morning, February 2nd, 2003 at the SRH - Laurentian Site. He was born in Coniston. Married Rita (Arcand) in 1956 in Sudbury. A well known and respected Coniston resident Gildo had been a businessman in the Sudbury area and barber in Coniston for many years retiring in 2000 due to failing health. A Roman Catholic he belonged to St. Paul the Apostle Parish. An active member of his community he was a volunteer firefighter in Coniston; trainer for the Coniston Legion Blues. His son played on the team and they won the championship in 1971-1972. A Lions member for 30 years he lived the Lions motto "We Serve" in helping others. He served in many capacities within the club including president; he played Blooper Ball for many years and played competitive pool. He enjoyed skiing and golfing. He worked as a starter at the Idylwylde and Pine Grove Golf Courses, also he shot a hole in one at the Twin Stacks Course in 1997. Gildo had a great sense of humour which he generously shared with others even during the difficult days of his illness. The light of his life will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him. Beloved husband of Rita (Arcand) Basso of Coniston. Loving father of Rickey (December 13th, 2002) and Charlene (January 20th, 1976) both predeceased. Cherished grandfather of Kailey, Jordan and Brett all of Edmonton. Dear son of Luigi and Marie (Chezzi) Basso predeceased. Wife of Frank Bean (predeceased). Mother of Terry (wife Lorraine) of Capreol, David (wife Collette) of Capreol, Del (wife Paulette) of Capreol, Sandy (husband Denis Ochoski) of Sault Ste. Marie, Carey (wife Sherree) of Capreol, and Jim of Capreol. Grandmother to Phil (wife Sandra), Terry, Stephanie (husband Mark Therrien), Andrea, Andrew, Nicholas, Benjamin, Kyle, Courtney and Delhanie. Great grandmother to Austin, Madison, Hunter, Cody and Isaac. Beloved daughter of Johnston and Myrtle Smith (both predeceased). Dear sister of Gordon (predeceased), Wesley (wife Doris) of Pembroke, and Ronald (wife Jean) of Pembroke. Stella and Frank created Frank Bean & Sons Ltd., a well-known local garage which sponsored a championship ball team both in Capreol and The Valley. The business is still owned by family members, and is still running after more than 30 years. Lately she was involved with the Capreol Senior Citizen’s Club, hosting very popular picnics at her camp on Morton Lake. Stella was mother to six children but was Ma Bean to all the children who visited her house, rode her school bus, or went with the family on camping expeditions. Ma Bean will be greatly missed by "All Her Children" and all the people whose lives she touched. JILL RUTH BEGIN April 21, 1958-January 31, 2003 After a lengthy illness, it is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jill Begin on Friday, January 31, 2003. Jill was predeceased by her mother Ruth Chamberlain and her sister-in-law Cathy Begin. Jill leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved husband Lloyd and daughter Andrea. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her father Don (Thea) Chamberlain, of Orangeville, ON, brother Ross (Roxanne) Chamberlain of Toronto, ON, mother-in-law Lill Begin of Winnipeg, father-in-law Van Begin of Winnipeg, sisters-in-law, Brenda (Brian) Hamilton of Kitchener, ON and Lana (Doug) Lowry of Peterborough, ON; brothers-in-law, Rob Begin of Sudbury, ON, Roy Begin of Ottawa, ON and Jeff (Carole) Begin of Sudbury. Jill also leaves many nieces, nephews and special friends. Jill and family would like to share a very important part of her life since her first diagnosis with cancer in 1992. Jill over the many years has belonged to various support groups but one very important to her has been Club Mets. In the upcoming February edition of the Breast Cancer Centre of Hope Newsletter "Our Voice" Jill wrote an article "My Cancer Has Spread" which recounts her need for emotional care and finding it with a special group of women called Club Mets. I found it extremely helpful to belong to a support group, where I met other people with metastatic breast cancer, and who understand the physical and emotional feelings I am going through." She was a homemaker and a volunteer at Fairview Villa. She taught Sunday school and was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford. She was blessed with many friends and was a member of The Bedford Singers. Surviving are daughter, Diana (Vincent) Gerrior, Sackville; son, Laurie, Bedford; sister, Evelyn Moulton, Dartmouth; brother, Murray Pothier, Bedford; grandchildren, Deborah (Rob) Holmans, Dartmouth; Terrence (Denyse) Johnson, Sackville. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; sister, Kathleen Cobb. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 1216 Bedford Hwy., Bedford. VICTOR OMER DAVID 1920-2003 Peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2003 our beloved father, grandfather (Papere) and great-grandfather passed away in his sleep at the St. Boniface Hospital. Victor leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Rodney (Rowney) and Bruce (Tammy); his daughters, Patricia Dunne (Leo) and Lori David; his grandchildren, Shane, Vicky, Kelly, Le Ann and Samantha; great-grandchildren Veronica, Jessica and Keifer. He is also survived by sisters, Laurentine Fournier and Lorette Zalondek (Dave); and two sisters-in-law, Yvette and Sylvia, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives from the Lac Du Bonnet area and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel in 1988, as well as both his parents, a sister and three brothers. Dad was born in Carruthers, SK and moved to Lac Du Bonnet as a child. He served our country in the Second World War with PPCLI. It was during this time in the war that he met and married his wife Ethel. He was a legion member for 35 years. In Lac Du Bonnet he was employed by the town for 30 years. After moving to Winnipeg he was employed at Middlechurch Nursing Home for 11 years. Victor was a man of many words. His long stories were legendary. Until his illness, he loved to take drives all around the province, enjoyed attending fiddling contests and he also had a love of horses. In the last few years Victor has enjoyed the company of a special friend, Barb Woodward, who made him very happy, also a dear friend Alex. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital in 4E and Dr. Norandis for their loving care given to Victor. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
