1916 - 2003. Was called to his eternal rest, surrounded by his loving family on January 9, 2003 at Bayview Hospital. He leaves behind his devoted wife Mrs. Mabel Louise Desouza, eight children and eleven grandchildren. He celebrated a joyful Christmas at home with his family. The family will receive condolences on Sunday, January 12, 2003 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Alfred Dallaire Inc. & J.F. Wilson, 14370 Pierrefonds Blvd. Pierrefonds, (514) 270-3114. FAIRBAIRN, Alice Madeline Alice passed away peacefully in Winnipeg on Sunday, January 5 at the age of 90. She had been a resident of the Golden Door Geriatric Centre for the past year and previously lived at Catherine Place in Winnipeg. Alice was born in Massey, Ontario in May 1912, and later moved to Toronto where she spent most of her life. In Toronto, she was active in her church and an enthusiastic member of several bowling leagues until well into her 80’s. Alice is survived by her son Nelson Kelcey (Barbara) of Winnipeg, grandsons Brian Kelcey (Toronto) and Sean Kelcey (Gagetown, N.B.), brother (Nelson) Harry Fairbairn of Sudbury and sister Dorothy Spooner (Milford) of Lee Valley, ON. Alice’s wishes were that her cremated remains be buried in the family plot in Massey. DESCHAMPS, Yvonne (née Renaud) The family announces with sorrow, her death in Sudbury, Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at the age of 89 years. Daughter of the late Philippe Renaud and of the late Malvina Renaud (née Taillon). Wife of the late Georges Deschamps.. Loving mother of Lorraine Bray (husband Neil) of Sudbury. Dear sister of Annette Lafleur (husband Roméo predeceased) of Sudbury. Predeceased by her brothers, Albert (wife Agnès predeceased), Dorina Landry (husband Armand predeceased), Lucien (wife Colombe pre-deceased), René (Aline Schubert of Toronto), Adrien (wife Florabelle predeceased) and by her sister Marie-Reine Marshall (husband Michel predeceased). Special mom to Larry Choquette (wife Marie-Anne) of Yellowknife. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 2 grandchildren, Mark and Tina-Lori Rawn (husband Tom). Married for 61 years to her late husband Georges, they were the former owners of Moonlight Beach for 25 years. Mrs. Deschamps was a very religious person who was proud to serve as a member of the 3rd Ordre of St. Francis, a member of the CWL at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, as well as a former member of "Les Dames de Ste Anne" and a member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and creating crafts. Yvonne loved to play bingo and to play cards, especially "500". She will also be remembered for her skills in gardening. Her greatest moments of joy were while she was in the presence of her family, the love of her life. The family received friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. ADAMS, EARLE On Friday, January 3, 2003, Earle Howard Adams rose to eternal life at the Canmore General Hospital in Canmore, Alberta in his 67th year. This military man of 35 years had one more battle, a brief battle with ALS, which he completed with dignity and bravery. Along with his many adventures in the Canadian Armed Forces, he served at the RCAF’s No. 3 Fighter Wing, based at Zweibrucken, Germany and as a peacekeeper on the Golan Heights in Israel, completing his military career as a Warrant Officer. Earle was born in Ameliasburg, Ontario to Howard and Oress (nee Foster) oldest brother to Baden (m. Louella), Lyle (m. Clairette), Donald (m. Norma), and Christopher (m. Jane). His most lasting and important contribution is as a husband to LaVerne (nee Einsiedler) for 43 years and as a father of Brian (m. Connie Knodel) and Donna (m. Neil Denison). Beloved by all members of the family, there are many favorite memories of this gentle and loving man, including the admiration that was shown by the medical staff that assisted Earle with his last battle in life. Le 8 janvier dernier, à l'âge de 77 ans, Ann Gagnon est décédée à l'hôpital Royal Victoria de Montréal. Elle laisse derrière elle ses deux filles Ann et Marie de même que ses deux fils Laurent et Jean. Ann était une personne très passionnée et n'était pas très conventionnelle. Ses amis et amies, ses collègues, sa parenté et tous les gens qui l'ont connue, ne seront donc pas surpris de lire cette phrase qu'elle nous a laissé comme une de ses dernières volontés: si quelqu'un veut donner quelque chose à l'occasion de ma mort, que ce quelque chose soit d'offrir «un petit plaisir» à la personne la plus proche (the significant other!): un bon mot, un tablette de chocolat, une rose, une visite, un téléphone d'amitié ou toute autre marque de tendresse. A funeral is planned for Saturday, January 18 at St. Edouard Church on the corner of St. Denis and Beaubien in Montreal. Family members will be there around 13:15 p.m. and the ceremony is scheduled for 14 p.m. Afterwards, there will be a gathering to celebrate Ann's life. This Irish Wake will take place at 60 Rachel Street, between St. Laurent and St. Urbain and will begin after sun down, around 19:30 p.m. Friends, family and colleagues are all welcome. Ann wrote: "For this gathering, may my friends laugh, dance and celebrate friendship." Albert Emile LeBlanc 1942 - 2003 PETIT-CAP, NB - Albert Emile LeBlanc, 60, of Petit-Cap passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born in Shemogue, September 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Emile and Sara (Léger) LeBlanc. He was known throughout the greater CapPelé area as a respected businessman in the Fish Processing Industry for over 25 years. Charlie LeBlanc, his grandfather, was the first person in the southeastern part of New Brunswick to open a smoked herring industry. With the knowledge and valuable experience acquired from his father, Emile LeBlanc began operations. Albert then became co-owner of Emile C. LeBlanc & Sons Ltd with his father and his two brothers in 1974. In 1981, he also became co-owner, with his two brothers, of other businesses such as Sea Tide Import and Export (1981); White Trucking (1978); Eastern Fisheries (1979); and Emile Trading. In 1997, Albert helped develop Michel & Charles LeBlanc Fisheries Ltd which is now the family's fourth generation in the smoked herring industry. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. On January 8, 2003, in her 87th year, peacefully at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Cherished wife of the late Reverend M.J.D. Carson. Predeceased by her beloved sons, John and David (Sandra Pim-Carson). Dear mother of Barbara Jardine (David), Sackville, New Brunswick, Margaret Pomeroy (John), Orillia, Ontario. Much loved Nana of Michael, Daniel (Patti) and Andrew Jardine and David and Meghan Pomeroy. Eldest daughter of the late Harold and Mildred Preston. Predeceased by brother Bill Preston (Leona), Calgary, Alberta. Dear sister of Dr. Helen Glass and Don Preston (Shelagh) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sister-in-law of the late Bert and Patricia Carson, London, Ontario. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Regina, raised in Saskatoon, graduated from the University of Saskatchewan and began her teaching career at Prince Albert. She balanced family and professional life, supporting and supported by her husband, earning a Masters of Education degree from the University of Ottawa, while teaching full time. A respected guidance counselor with the Ottawa-Carleton Board of Education, she was awarded the Olive Diefenbaker Award in recognition of her contribution. Active for many years at Trinity United Church, she is remembered fondly by friends and colleagues in Ottawa. In retirement she travelled extensively with her sister and took pleasure in the activities of her children, grandchildren and extended family. She particularly treasured time at the family cottage in the Gatineau Hills and her sister's cottage at Lake of the Woods. Following cremation, friends may call at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia, on Friday, January 10th, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Services of remembrance will take place in Orillia on Saturday, January 11, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church, 62 Peter Street North and in Ottawa on Tuesday, January 14, 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 1099 Maitland Avenue. Born August 24th, 1926 in Windsor, Ontario, passed away January 9th, 2003 after a long battle of illness. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Ducharme, daughter and husband, Lee and Mike Hahn and grandchildren, Kim, Andrew and Ashley, all of North Vancouver, BC; His mother, Mildred Wilson of Windsor, Ontario and his family in Michigan. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in the 40's and was a long time member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. A wonderful husband, terrific father, grandpa and great fishing buddy will be sadly missed. A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mel Bruchet and Dr. Don Warren. A small gathering to celebrate his life will be held January 19, 2002 at the Ducharme residence. In lieu of flowers, any donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

(RCAF Retired) Peacefully, Monday, January 6, 2003, aged 79, in Comox, BC. Predeceased 2 years ago by his beloved wife Ida. Cherished father of Ken (Eileen), Richard (Pearl) and Blair (Doris). Proud grandfather to Patricia (Chris), Caitlin and Olivia. Born in Manchester, England, Ken enrolled in the RAF during WWII. He met and married Ida while taking pilot training in Canada. After the war, he joined the RCAF as a pilot who loved instructing and flying fighters, helicopters, jets and maritime patrol. He was a skilled woodworker, ardent boater and enthusiastic traveller who happily shared his time with family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
