Tauvette, Yvon est décédé paisiblement entouré de sa famille, le mercredi 29 mai 2002, à l'âge de 58 ans. Il était le fils de feu Théodore Tauvette; époux de Sylvia Lindsay; père de Geoffrey, Angela (Joe Pagé) et Elisabeth (Derek Hill); pépère dévoué de John Joseph Pagé. Il laisse dans le deuil sa mère Simone; sa tante Cécile; 9 soeurs et 3 frères, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et de nombreux ami(e)s. (nee Campbell) Carol McNamara died peacefully on the 31st of May 2002. She was the loving daughter of Len and Melda Campbell; sister of Robert (Bob), Brian and Allan. Carol was the beloved wife of Peter McNamara and mother of Shawn and Shannon. She was a woman loved by everyone around her; she always thought of others before herself and found pride and joy in helping anyone in need. Carol will forever be remembered for her sense of humour, her undying love and her incredible strength and persistence. She will be deeply missed by her family and everyone else who knew her. O’NEIL, FREDERICK STANLEY, Fred left us tragically on Friday, April 26, 2002, just nine days after his 47th birthday. Sadly, he succumbed to a 15 year struggle with recurring episodes of depression and mania. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, April 30 at the Odessa Free Methodist Church with burial in Union Cemetery in Bath next to his father, the late Reg O’Neil. Fred was the second eldest in a family of eight children. His memory will be forever cherished by his mother Vera Gamble and siblings, Kathy Tallen, Laurie Head, Chris, Aaron, Rob, Elaine Salaam and Jason; wife Janet (Smith), sons Nathan and Kyle; grandchildren Phoenix and Keagan. He will also be sadly missed by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was a lifetime resident of Odessa until moving to the Ottawa area 2 years ago. Fred attended St. Lawrence College after graduating from Ernestown Secondary School and then on to Trade School where he excelled in his training as an Electrician. In his community he was known as an avid hunter and fisherman and all around humanitarian. Fred was instrumental in the planning and development of the memorial "Mill Creek Park" on Main Street in Odessa. He also participated in and sponsored local baseball teams, one of which was composed of mostly family members. This was one of his many attempts to gather the family together, which was so important to him. He established his own company, O’Neil Electric, and with continued education upgraded to a Master Electrician - one of the best in his field. As proof of their deep regard for Fred, a multitude of family and friends conveyed their condolences through visitation, generous offerings of food, flowers, cards and charitable donations on his behalf. Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 30th 2002 at the age of 41. Sheila's bright smile and loving personality enhanced the lives of all those who knew her, and we will miss her more than words can express. Her courage and enthusiasm for life grew stronger even as her body grew weaker, providing an inspiration to everyone facing incurable disease. During her four-year battle with cancer she was assisted by dozens of strong and caring individuals from the medical community, among whom Sheila and her family would like to extend a special thank you to: Dr. Farid Shamji, Dr. Rakesh Goel, Dr. Susan Gick, Dr. Margaret Farncombe, Sandra Proulx, Deane Ronayne, Caroline Tibbles, and June McTaggart. Died at home in Hearts Desire (Ottawa) peacefully on Friday morning (May 31, 2002) at about 7:30 a.m. of a metasticized prostate cancer. He was out of the house as recently as Tuesday, so his decline was very rapid. His immediate family (wife: Elizabeth (Diz), sons Ed (and Pilar), Keith and Tersh (and Suzan), and grandchildren Madelaine, Eleanor, Leary, and Catherine (and Paul) were with him at the end. Born in Bermuda in 1916, Earl met Diz in Scotland in 1944 (for the second time!) where they were married while both serving as lieutenants with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. There followed 57 "wonderful" years of marriage which saw them live, work in and/or visit all six habitable continents. Charismatic, a gifted tenor and possessing an exceptional intellect, his formal education included philosophy, history, economics, mathematics, physics and oceanography. He was awarded a Founders Day Award by New York University for his Ph.D. thesis in oceanography in 1964. His many "careers" spanned the gamut from delivery boy, apprentice United Church minister, amateur astonomer, high school teacher, naval officer, professional singer, carpenter's apprentice, research scientist, oil company executive, inventor, public servant, UNESCO teacher, sailor, social activist and an unsuccessful run for nomination in a federal election. Earl and Diz have friends around the globe, many of whom we hope will receive this message (please pass it on as we will surely miss more than we reach!). A Quaker meeting will be held to remember his life at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (June 2) at the Meeting House of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) at 91A Fourth Avenue in the Glebe (Ottawa). There will be an open house immediately after the meeting at 3:00 p.m. and Earl and Diz's friends are welcome to join the family for either or both of these observances. George Alexander Fairbanks Passed away at the Kingston General Hospital on May 13, 2002. Alex was originally from Waldron Saskatchewan, he moved here with family in 1937. He grew up in the depression which taught Alex perseverance and reliance. Alex worked at variety of jobs, farming and selling appliances for W.W. Hawley Ltd. Eventually he opened his own business Fairbanks Monuments on Highway 2 in Kingston. He retired from his business in 1975 because of heart conditions. Alex married Lena and they did a lot of travelling. They travelled across Canada from East to West coast several times. They also went to Florida, California and spent a month in Alaska. After Lena passed away in 1987, Alex started volunteering for Hospice Kingston because they were so good to Lena. They helped look after her until she passed away at home. Hospice volunteers have been there for Alex in his last few weeks. He also volunteered for CNIB Blind Institute, also the Senior Citizen Council always selling tickets to help non-profit organizations. Alex was volunteer of the year in 1992. But over the years he had to slow down. He had pretty good health until this last year. He leaves behind his son Gordon (Shirley), two grandchildren Laurie (Mike), Don (Andrea), four great grandchildren Kristen, Sean, Justin and Erika and one sister Margaret Tatton. Lui survivent 13 petits-enfants, 19 arrière petits-enfants, ses soeurs Denise et Marie de Hull, Jeanne de Calgary, ses frères Médéric de Grenville, et Jacques de Val d’Or, ses beaux-frères et belles-soeurs, neveux et nièces, parents et amis. On se souviendra surtout d’une petite femme joviale qui avait un sens d’humour spécial et des talents de cuisinière. Elle excellait aux travaux d’aiguille et exécutait tous ses projets avec minutie et dévouement.
