Mme Larochelle Éthier laisse dans le deuil sa soeur Thérèse Larochelle Cournoyer; ses petits-enfants: Roger (Nadine Boulianne), Odette, Richard (Manon Larochelle), Denis (Diane Matte), France (Serge Durand) et Diane (Stéphane Béland); ses douze arrière-petits-enfants, ses neveux et nièces, ainsi que plusieurs autres parents et amis. BLONDIN- Mme Germaine est décédée paisiblement le dimanche 2 juin 2002 au CHVO Pavillon de Gatineau, à l'âge de 83 ans. Elle était l'épouse de feu Raoul Blondin et fille de feu Philippe Richer et de Rosa-Anna Lalonde. L'a prédécédée, son fils Robert. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa fille Thérèse; ses 3 petits-enfants: France (Guy Maurice), Brigitte et Caroline; son arrière-petit-fils: Pier-Luc; ses 2 belles-soeurs: Gilberte et Hélène. Elle laisse également plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines, une amie très chère, Thérèse Larose, ainsi que plusieurs autres ami(e)s. L'ont prédécédé sa soeur Laura et ses frères: Roméo, Ovila et Dorima. EVELINE, Beulah (nee Dodd) In loving memory of Beulah (nee Dodd) Eveline, 80 years, formerly of Sudbury, who passed away Saturday morning, June 1st, 2002 at the Extendicare in Haliburton. She was born in Ottawa and in 1945 she married Emory Eveline in Ottawa. Beulah came to the Sudbury area in 1945. She had been a clerk with the Federal Government Central Mortgage Dept. for 8 years, retiring in 1972. A devout Roman Catholic she had attended St. Pius X Church in Lively and also belonged to the parish CWL. A well liked Lively resident, she had belonged to the Walden Sr. Citizen Club and she had helped local worthy causes and projects. She was devoted to her loving daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren who fondly called her "Nan Nextdoor". Beloved wife of Emory "Chief" Eveline predeceased 1994. Loving mother of Sharon (husband John Simpkin) of Fenlon Falls. Cherished Nan of Anthony (wife Andrea), Sheldon, and Allysa (husband Jason DeHetre) and great grandchild Emily. Dear daughter of James and Anne (McNally) Dodd predeceased. Rita Mary Grant Peacefully after a brief illness, at home on Wolfe Island, on Thursday March 14, 2002, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Wolfe Island on May 1, 1915, the eldest daughter of Roy and Alice McRae and lived there all her life. In 1940 she married William Grant and they had three children, Donna, Wayne, and Carol. They farmed on the Island and she was a farm hand, a homemaker, and a much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Donna Graham (Jim) of Napanee, Wayne Grant (Donna) of Wolfe Island, Carol Davis (Howard) of Napanee; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Weese, James Moffat, Robert Moffat, Tracy Easterbrook, Lee Grant, Stewart Grant, April Davis, and Susan Grant, all who acted as pall bearers, and great grandchildren, Tawny, Shandy, Clesea, Keegan, Candice, Brennan, Matthew, Natasha, and Colin. Her brothers; Charles (Winnie) McRae, Mark (Mable) McRae, and sister Helen White. Brother is law Harold Gurnsey, and sisters in law Marilyn Dundon, Jean Whitmore and Jean Bustard, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband William Grant, parents Roy and Alice McRae, sisters Mary Martin, Bertha Gurnsey, Edna McKenna and Anna McRae, brothers Emmett McRae and Weir McRae and grandson William (Billy) Grant. The funeral was held at Sacred Heart Church on Wolfe Island, March 19, 2002, Father Eugene O’Reilly officiating. JAUVIN Pierre est décédé le 1er juin 2002 à l'Hôpital général d'Ottawa, après une longue maladie. Il était le fils de feu Philippe Jauvin et de feu Isola Gaudreault. EGLANTINE GIROUARD née Duhamel est décédée le jeudi 30 mai 2002, à l'âge de 98 ans. Elle était l'épouse de feu Ernest Girouard, la chère mère de Jacques (Lucile Boivin), Robert (Simone Provost), Lucile (Roger Léveillé), Gilles (Patricia Doris) et Denise. Elle était la grand-mère chérie de 19 petits-enfants, de 23 arrière-petits-enfants et de 7 arrière-arrière-petits-enfants. Elle fut prédécédée par un fils, Richard. Il n'y aura pas de visites au salon funéraire. Un service commémoratif aura lieu le mardi 4 juin 2002 en la basilique Notre-Dame d'Ottawa, rue Sussex, à 10h30. P. Eng. McGill 1942 Peacefully Friday May 31, 2002 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Douglas Thomas Shaw age 82. Beloved husband of Elma Graham. Cherished father of Marilyn (Kevin O'Neill) and Graham Shaw (Julie). Loving grandfather "T.O.M." of Lori and Kelly O'Neill; Kinnon and Kiefer Shaw. Dear brother of Joyce Peters of Toronto. As the President of D.T. Shaw Company and Heinemann Electric Canada, Doug enjoyed the challenge of business with his valued employees and customers. He will be fondly remembered by the boys who enjoyed his leadership and good times in Glenmount Scout Troop, as well as the Saturday ski/bus trips for young people to the Laurentians. A keen ham radio operator, call letters VE2P0, he had friends worldwide. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Signal Corps, 1942-45. His later years spent in Mont Tremblant were happy times for Doug enjoying the company of family and friends around his pool. The family is extremely appreciative of the care and devotion given to Doug by staff and volunteers, during the last two years at St. Vincent's Hospital. Family interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. A Mass in Memory, celebrating the life of Doug will be held Tuesday June 4, 2002 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Ottawa at 2 p.m. Donations to Scouts Canada or St. Vincent's Hospital appreciated. Betty (Shegone) Johnson Betty Johnson, 72, of Stanjikoming First Nation, Ont., passed away Friday, May 31, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. She was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Seine River First Nation, Ont. Betty grew up at Seine River but in later years moved to Stanjikoming First Nation, where she became a band member. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Russell Kenny; and one sister, Irene Whitecrow. Betty is survived by two daughters, Lena Webster of Kingston, Ont., and Phyllis Webster of Sudbury, Ont.; two grandchildren, Alanna and Nathan Webster, both of Sudbury, Ont.; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A traditional burial service will be held Wednesday morning, June 5, 2002 at the family home in Stanjikoming First Nation. Elder Gilbert Smith will officiate, with interment in Stanjikoming First Nation Cemetery. A wake will be held Tuesday evening, June 4, 2002 at the family home in Stanjikoming First Nation. Pallbearers will be Shane Whitecrow, Mike Henderson, Norman Girard, Sheldon Whitecrow, Paul Henderson, Roy Morrison, and Ed Morrison. Wife of the late Oliver Retallack, and lovingly remembered by her sister Orie Phelan; by her beloved children Oris, Sharon, Bruce and Ron Lauzon, their partners Michael Le Blanc, Jeremy Forbes and Rawn Remillard, and her granddaughter Jaime Forbes. She will be missed by many friends and relatives, particularly by the nephews and nieces who have remained so close in recent months - Judy Cram, Chris Phelan and Scott Phelan, and her dear friend Edwina Scott. A special thanks to the staff of Unitarian House, where she was at home for many years, and to the staff of Extendicare-Starwood who cared for her so well over the past few months. His final few hours passed peacefully, after a difficult week and a much longer battle with lung disease. Mary (Marie) Shepanski It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Shepanski announces her sudden passing on Thursday, May 30, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. Mary was born Aug. 4 in Meleb, Man., the eldest daughter of Barbara and Frank Baliant. She was united in marriage to Edward Shepanski on Sept. 25, 1948 and resided in Fort Frances for the past 50 years. Mary’s life revolved around her family and friends. She was a woman of many talents. Mary loved animals and nature, and her vegetable and flower gardens were her pride. She expressed her creativity with her many sewing projects. Mary loved to cook and you never left her kitchen feeling hungry. Mary would tell you stories that would entertain you for hours or comfort your needs in a simple phone call. Her love for her family and friends was unconditional. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Barbara Baliant; two brothers, Albin and John Baliant; and one son, John Shepanski. Mary is survived by her husband, Edward Shepanski of Fort Frances, Ont.; six children, Barbara and husband, Chuck Hadley, of Anoka, Mn., George Shepanski of Calgary, Alta., and Joanne and husband, Richard Bliss, Nick and Andrew Shepanski, and Josie and husband, Darryl McLeod, all of Fort Frances, Ont. PACIONE, Taly Joseph "Joe" In loving memory of Taly Joseph "Joe" Pacione, 76 years, of Hanmer, who passed away Friday evening, May 31st, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Timmins and in 1944 he married Lois (Thompson) in Timmins. A longtime & well known Hanmer resident Joe had been the manager of CUMIS Insurance Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1987. A devout Roman Catholic he attended St. Kevin’s Church and he was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. A proud Canadian he had served overseas with the Canadian Army in the Queen’s Own Rifle Regiment. A real people person Joe was always quick to help others and share his wonderful good humour. The cornerstone of his life was his loving family. Beloved husband of Lois (Thompson) Pacione predeceased 1983. Loving father of Diana (husband Kurt Steinbruner) of Porcupine, Nick of Hanmer, Carolyn of Porcupine, Lynda (husband Sam Kopytowski) of Toronto, Domenic (wife Tanya) of Val Therese and Danny (wife Joan) of Hanmer. Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Joshua, Kaitlin, Jared, Glen, Jennifer, Darren, Travis, Rachel; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Logan and Emma. Enseignante durant plusieurs années, elle s'est dévouée à Moonbeam, Rockland et Ottawa (Saint-Conrad, Couvent de la rue Rideau, École secondaire De LaSalle) et au Cameroun en Afrique. Partout, elle laisse le souvenir d'une femme dynamique, compagne agréable et professeur émérite. Depuis sa retraite, elle était bénévole au Conseil sur le vieillissement, au Service d'Entraide Communautaire. Elle enseigna aux adultes et fit partie du Comité responsable des programmes pour l'alphabétisation des aînés. Seigneur, viens la prendre avec Toi, qu'elle partage ta JOIE.
