Gently passed away at the age of 86 years on April 21, 2002 at St. Michael's Care Center in Burnaby, B.C. Originally from Cotton Beaver on the Dunvegan Road, she is predeceased by parents, Mary MacLeod and John Gray and brother, Angus Gray. Through the years, she lived in Montreal, Toronto, Seattle and for about the last 40 years in Vancouver area. She is remembered for her independence, fierce determination and for her love of the creatures of the world. Genevieve Mary Theresa Bresee Passed away after a short illness April 7, 2002 at the Kingston General Hospital. Loving wife to Chris Bresee and cherished mother of Christian, Austin and Joseph. Gen was born in Smiths Falls, attended South Crosby Public School and Rideau District High School. After graduating from Mohawk College, and McMaster University, Hamilton, she returned home to live in the family homestead on Harts Gravel Road in Elgin. Gen was a member of St. Columbanus Roman Catholic Church in Elgin where she belonged to the C.W.L. She was a Physiotherapist at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital where she often participated in fund raising walks and other events. She canvassed for numerous charities and volunteered for the Lung Association Asthma Program. She was an avid gardener and could be often seen cheering her children on in their many sporting events. Genevieve will be remembered for her kind, gentle and caring personality, her passion for life, positive attitude, her amazing smile and warm healing touch. She was greatly dedicated to her profession as a physiotherapist. Gen’s legacy includes her love and devotion to her family, especially her three sons, Christian, Austin and Joseph. She was a great example to us all by her never ending acts of care and loving kindness to all who met her. Gen is survived by her husband Chris; children, Christian (12 years), Austin (10 years) and Joseph (6 years); sister, Justina Donovan and brother, Dennis (Cindy) Donovan. Gen was predeceased by her parents Ev Donovan (nee O’Hearn) and Vincent Donovan. The funeral was held April 11, 2002 with Father Raymond Vickers, Father Paul McAvoy, Father Tim Shea, Father Harold O’Neil and Father Bill Dwyer. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. Judy canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society for more than 30 years, and volunteered at Sudbury’s NEORCC for 9 years. A member of IODE (Elizabeth Fry Chapter) for 25 years where she held several positions including that of Secretary and Regent. Judy was a member of the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club where she served on numerous committees, held executive positions as Secretary and President of the Women’s Golf Section and Secretary and Treasurer of the daytime Women’s Curling Section. When she was not volunteering somewhere, she was always busy knitting, sewing, quilting, making teddy bears and cooking for all the special people in her life. Judy was a devoted wife, mother and wonderful grandmother, truly one of a kind, and her bright smile, spirit and memories will live on through her husband, children and grandchildren who will miss her greatly. Bob Layton P.C., passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, holding hands with family, including children and grandchildren as they sang the old songs he loved. A graduate of the Ottawa Teachers' College, Gertrude spent all of her professional life as a primary school teacher, both in Northern Ontario and in Leaside, Toronto. WHITESIDE , Helen McClain (nee Scott) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2002, supported by family and friends at her home in Peterborough. Helen is survived by her loving husband and companion, Dr. John (Jack) Whiteside. She was the beloved mother to John Whiteside of London, David Whiteside and his wife Danielle of Bracebridge, Joan Ball and her husband Michael Humeniuk of London and Margaret Seabrook and her husband Scott of Peterborough. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jennifer, Tara, Ian, Tyler, Kathleen, Jesse, Josh and Jack, who brought her much joy. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Reata Scott of Toronto, her sister, Fran Somerville of Toronto, and her brother, Jim Scott of Flint, Michigan. SORENSEN, Mildred "Mickey" Jessie 1928 - 2002. Mickey passed away suddenly from complications following surgery at The Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC on April 29, 2002. Mickey was born in Montreal, QC on August 18, 1928 to Alan and Jessie Morris. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Dora. She leaves her loving husband Arne; sons, Gary (Carla) of Sudbury, ON, Dwight (Cheryl) of Thompson, MB; grandchildren, Garrett, Chace, Kelsi and Landen; brother Alan of Pincourt, QC and sister Shirley of Sutton, QC. Mickey and Arne were married in 1950 in Montreal, QC, and made their home during their union in Halifax, NS, Norfolk, VA, Thompson, MB, Mississauga, ON, Sudbury, ON and finally Winnipeg, MB. She will be fondly remembered for her cheerful and friendly disposition and her expertise in decorating and entertaining her many friends and family members. She enjoyed her many travels to the U.K., California and Florida. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial celebrating Mickey’s life will be held shortly in Winnipeg.
