Peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2002, Fritzie Dresher was the jewel in our crown. Despite her suffering and travails these last five years, she blessed us with her light, laughter and the deepest love imaginable. Dearly beloved wife and devoted friend of the late Matthew Dresher - may they be reunited in Paradise. Cherished mother of Gary Miles and Honey Arline Dresher to whom she brought lasting comfort and joy. Her love was eloquent and boundless. Dearest grandmother of Randi Dresher, and Marnie and Allan Oberman, and great grandmother of Hailey Ann Oberman. Wonderful sister of Betty Miller, Ida Jacobs, Ray Wise, the late Saul Terletsky, and the late Max Terletsky. Sweetest sister-in-law of Helen Rosenzweig and Fay Terletsky. Sadly mourned by her loving nieces and nephews throughout the world and by dearest family friend, Peter Oliveri. August 12, 1941 - February 25, 2002. Mr. Konrad Giesz, beloved husband of Mrs. Shirley Giesz of Medicine Hat, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2002, at the age of sixty years. Besides his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Shirley, Konrad is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Tony) Bukmeier; two grandchildren, Danika and Daniel, all of Medicine Hat; his mother, Katharina Giesz; one brother, Henry (Mary); one sister, Katherine, as well as four nieces, Linda, Ingrid, Cheryl, Kelly and families, all of Montreal. Konrad was predeceased by his father, Heinrich Giesz. Konrad was born in Roumania, coming to Montreal in 1950. His life was in the newspaper business, working at the Montreal Star until 1979, then on to the Edmonton Journal until his retirement. Along with Shirley, Konrad moved to Medicine Hat so that he could enjoy his children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him. At the McMaster University Medical Centre after a courageous battle with leukemia, Antony Piro of Ancaster passed away on Monday, February 25, 2002 in his thirty-third year. Cherished son of Sara Paletta-Piro and the late Egidio Piro. Adored brother of Francesca (Dominic) Caputi of Burlington, and Robert at home. Devoted uncle to Alexandria Caputi. Peacefully, after a long illness with his family beside him on Sunday, February 24, 2002. Loving husband of Evelyn Rudman for sixty-seven wonderful years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Jack and Barbara, and Daniel and Larraine. Caring grandfather of Laura and Robert Schertzer, Robert and Christine, Peter and Victoria, and Ted Rosenthal. (nee Armstrong). (1909-2002). At Lakeshore General Hospital on Friday, February 22, 2002, aged ninety-two, after a short illness. A native of Saskatchewan, Verne was predeceased by Margaret (nee Ashley) in 1974 and Winnifred (nee Bunnaman) in October 2001. Survivors include his brother Russell of British Columbia, sons Russell (Doris) of Ontario, James (Helen) of Manitoba, Douglas of British Columbia and stepdaughters Verna Lunny (Jack) of Florida and Virginia Belanger (Raymond) of Beaconsfield. Grandpa Verne appreciated grandchildren Karen, Erik and Dawn Searle as well as Diane and Nicole Belanger, Beverley, Jack, Elizabeth, Diane and Jennifer Lunny. Twelve nieces and nephews from across Canada, including Susan Thompson of Kirkland and Tony Thompson of Lake of Two Mountains, enjoyed uncle Verne. In his memory, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to Collins Clarke, 222 Highway 20, Pointe Claire.
