August 1917 - February 2002, Veteran of World War II. Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, the family of Nelson Roberts regretfully announces his passing away on February 9, 2002 at the Verdun General Hospital. Nelson was born in Gaspe, Quebec and moved to Montreal in 1948 where he worked at Tilden's for eighteen years and then with Sicard until his retirement. Nelson was a dedicated member of the National Veteran's Association and recently received his fifty-five year service pin from the Canadian Legion. Left to mourn his loving friend Anne McGuire, his six children and their spouses, Jerry, Wendy, Donna, Daryl (Darlene), Frances (Bobby), and Beverley; his three surviving sisters; Pearl (Armond) Schnail, Gladys (Cecil) Patterson, Ivy (Jackie) Koehn; his eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. (Capt.) Age 81 Suddenly at his home in Manotick on Thursday, February 7, 2002. Leo, devoted husband of Leanora (Lewis) Gervais. Leo was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a Cameron Highlander and a former West Novie. He saw active duty in several European theatres during World War II and retired from the military at the end of the war at the rank of Captain. He remained active in the 30th Regiment Officers' Mess and the army reserve. On returning to Canada he began his career in the Federal Government where he worked for many years in the Department of Veterans' Affairs. At the time of his retirement in 1977, he was Chief of Administration with the Department of Finance. Leo enjoyed life to the fullest. After retirement he and his wife Nora enjoyed travel and opening their home on the Rideau to family and friends. In latter years his interest in computers kept him young at heart. Along with his loving wife of 50 years, he leaves to mourn, his son Denis and wife Carol and his daughter Diane Gervais; one sister Claire (Mario) Malguzzi; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was also a loving and special uncle to Gail (Flynn) Hall and her husband Emerson and Gordon Flynn and his wife Anita, and Sylvia Gervais. As well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, he will be sadly missed by friends and neighbours. Leo was predeceased by his parents Florian and Irene (Morrisette) Gervais, two brothers, Roger and Lucien and one sister Lavina Laporte. Survived by her son Alan Joseph (Dorothy) Lapp of Barrie, Ontario, and her daughter, Jo-Anne (Bonnie) Davis of Toronto, Ontario. She will be greatly missed by her loving and precious grandchildren, Victoria (Stephen) McFadden of Georgetown, Ontario, Alan G.
