A graceful lady and a beautiful, loving wife and mother, left us on Saturday, December 1, 2001. Dorothy was a marvelous companion to William, her husband of 51 years. She was a devoted mother, mother-in-law and friend to her children, Debra Harder of Ottawa, Dan and Jacqueline Burnett of Cambridge, Julie Burnett and Chris Gittings of Edmonton. As a wonderful grandmother, Dorothy shared many adventures with her grandchildren, Andrew, Michael and Sarah. Survived by her mother Evelyn, brothers Ken Simpson (Mary) and Neil Simpson (Patty) and sister Lynn Simpson. Dorothy was an active woman at home and in our insurance agency. She was a generous friend to many with whom she shared her enjoyment of literature, curling, skiing and golf. Her kindness, optimism and passion for life will be with us always. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 5th floor of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care and counsel. Ten year resident of Laurier Manor, entered into rest, Saturday, December 1st, at Montfort Hospital. Elma was in her 77th year. Daughter of the late W.E. (Ted) Stewart and Peryl Steacy, Smiths Falls; sister of A.K. (Al) Stewart (deceased), sadly missed by brothers - Harry (Toronto), Ron (Bass Lake), sister-in-law Joan (England), nieces, nephews, and their families, and many loved friends and cousins in Ontario, Quebec, and the United States. "Rusty", as she was known to her many friends in Ottawa, was Dr. Graham's receptionist and nurse at his Gilmour Street home and office for forty-five years. From the age of twenty, Elma suffered through every phase of Multiple Sclerosis. Her quip, "I may have MS but it does not have me!". became her motto. She was admired and respected by all who knew her for her positive attitude and her courageous spirit. She was twice honoured with a Citizen of the Year award for her work with the handicapped. A long time member of St. John's Church (Elgin at Somerset), and later an Associate with the Order of St. John the Divine (Toronto), Elma gained her strength and support from her Church family. We will forever be grateful to the staff at Laurier Manor for their excellent care. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry. On November 29, 2001 at the Palliative Care Unit, Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal in her seventy-sixth year. Adored mother of Gordon (Betty Lamb), Jane, Christine of Australia and Catherine (Scott Waugh). Proud grandmother of fifteen, step-grandmother of two and great-grandmother of four in Sydney, Australia. Survived by her sister Nancy Sikorski and nephews David and Paul of Winnipeg. Edith battled briefly against insurmountable odds but was surrounded by her family until her passing. Of special importance to her were her cherished P.E.O. sisters in Montreal, Edmonton and Winnipeg. Private family funeral at Mount Royal Cemetery. December 23, 1916 - November 26, 2001 The family of Reta Shuster sadly announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother in Ottawa, ON on November 26, 2001, at the age of 84 years. Reta was predeceased by her loving husband Max; and her parents, Max and Edna Harris. Reta is survived by her sons, Paul (Trish) of Manotick, ON and Gerry (Marlene) of Lockport, MB; and her cherished grandchildren, Wendy, Michael, and Chelsea Shuster of Manotick, who mourn Reta's loss, and who will miss her greatly, as will all her family and dear friends all over Canada and the U.S.A. Reta's greatest passion in life was her music. She played piano for and sang with musical groups and her family throughout most of her life. In later years, even though her sight and hearing were failing, she played and sang for her own enjoyment and comfort, as well as for others around her, even in her last days. Reta moved from Winnipeg, MB to Manotick, ON in 1986, after the loss of her husband Max in 1984. They had been married almost 43 years. Reta had many joyous years in Ontario with her son Paul and her grandchildren, enjoying frequent visits from her son Gerry, and making many new and close friends. We wish to give our heartfelt thanks to the kind doctors and nurses at the Ottawa Civic, Queensway-Carleton, and Ottawa General Hospitals, and the Elisabeth Bruyere Palliative Care Unit for giving Mom so much comfort and care, and for giving her a bit more precious quality time to be with her family and friends. Thanks also to her home care worker Kirk Lawrence and his wife Hazel, who looked after Mom's day-to-day needs and gave her camaraderie throughout her final years. AUBRY, Aimé 1921 - 2001 À Rigaud, le 30 novembre 2001, à l'âge de 80 ans, est décédé M. Aimé Aubry, époux de Jeannette Sabourin. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil son fils Jean-Guy, son frère Fernand (Simone St-Denis), ses deux belles-soeurs Germaine Clermont et Edna Aubry, son beau-frère Russell Mcrae ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Il a été conseillé municipal de Rigaud de 1956 à 1975 et ex-maire de Rigaud de 1975 à 1987, Chevalier de Colomb, conseil 2881. Il a siégé au conseil d'administration du Foyer de Rigaud, de la Résidence Esther Blondin et du HLM de Rigaud, il a fait parti également du comité des Loisirs de Rigaud. Exposé à la résidence funéraire: F. Aubry & Fils inc. 52, St-Jean-Baptiste, Rigaud Les funérailles auront lieu lundi à 14 heures en l'église paroissiale Ste-Madeleine de Rigaud. Inhumation au cimetière du même endroit. Heures de visite: dimanche de 14 à 17 heures et de 19 à 22 heures, lundi dès 12 heures. Des dons à la Société de recherche sur le cancer seraient appréciés.
