Aged 52 years. Peacefully at home with his family by his side. As was Dave's wish he shared his last moments with Debbie, his wife and soulmate of thirty years and daughter Lisa, his pride and joy. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Phyllis (Lackey) and sister Susan Panasiuk. He is survived by his brother Jim in Alberta. Dave will be lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Linda Bell and her husband Larry, his special "favourite" niece Nikki Duschesne and her husband Jamie, father and mother-in-law Stan and Helen Noseworthy. Dave will be sadly missed by Garnie Catchpole and all of his other hunting and fishing buddies as well as all of the staff and friends at D & D Service Centre and Bob's Lake, his favourite place. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Passed away at the Montreal General Hospital on October 27, 2001. Beloved husband of Pat Little. Dear father of Marion (Dave Ingham). Loving mother of Dorothy Anne of Saskatoon, Dean of England, Keith of Woodstock, Doug of Waterloo and Wendy of Verona. Fondly remembered by her 12 grandchildren. Margaret devoted her life to raising her five children in a Christian way and ensuring that they were adequately educated to enjoy life to the fullest. She also took great interest in all of the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren. She greatly assisted her husband in obtaining his education by typing his thesis and by doing other secretarial work required in his very extensive volunteer work. Recently, Riverside United Church in Yarker presented Margaret with a life membership of the United Church Women in recognition of her contribution to the church. A private family interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Yarker with Rev. J. Brown officiating at a later date. Passed away on Monday, October 29th, 2001 at the Helen Henderson Care Centre in her 81st year. Wonderful and generous mom to Andrew, who shared her birthday and Debbie (Ruse). She loved her son-in-law Greg and daughter-in-law Cali as her own children. Loving grandma to Conner and Ryder Dixon. In addition she leaves her sister Marceline (Allan), brother Lionel (Marie Louise) and many good friends in Ottawa, where she lived and worked for most of her life. Predeceased by her husband Fred. Our mom enjoyed music, art, crafts, world travel and reading. She visited many countries with friends and on her own. She loved spending time at her cottage on the Rideau and picnics and birthday parties with family and friends. Denise worked for many years as an executive secretary in the Senate of Canada and in other government areas. ALFREDA CHRISTINA NADON Alfreda Christina Nadon, 89, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. She was born Feb. 11, 1912 in Virginia, Mn. to the late Frederick and Anna Haglund. Mrs. Nadon moved at the age of seven to Fort Frances, where she had lived most of her life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and a past member of the C.W.L. Her favourite pastime was spending time at their cabin on Rainy Lake. Alfreda was united in marriage March 31, 1930 to Lionel Hector Nadon, who predeceased her Jan. 16, 1992. She also was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Margaret DeGagne; two brothers, Edward and Harold Haglund; and sister, Betty. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and husband, Jim Gustafson, of Fort Frances; and son-in-law, Ray DeGagne, of Fort Frances. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Bradley Gustafson of Fort Frances, Ont., Craig Gustafson and wife, Suzie, of Mine Centre, Ont., Kim Wilson and friend, Les Waltz, of Windsor, Ont., Kristine and husband, Robert McCaig, of Alberton, Ont., Jennifer Gustafson and friend, Wally McKee, of Coche-nour, Ont., Greg DeGagne of Fort Frances, Ont., Barry DeGagne and wife, Monica, of Winnipeg, Man., and Barbara and husband, Murray Dennis, of Mine Centre, Ont.; and 12 great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kurtis, Billy, Blake, Samantha, A.J., Nathan, Sarah, Nicholas, Reed, James, and Jacob. Also surviving are one nephew, Edward Haglund and wife, Rose-mary, of Fort Frances; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Nadon and Jean Demeres, both of Vancouver, B.C.; and one sister-in-law, Mar-garet Domanski of Prince Albert, Sask. A private family funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances at a later date. FELIX SEGUIN In loving memory of Felix Seguin, 84, of Pinewood, Ont., who passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 at the Rainy River Hospital in Rainy River, Ont. Felix was born Nov. 12, 1916 in Nelles Township, Ont. to the late Francois Xavier and Emelie Seguin. He grew up in the Pinewood area farming with his family. Felix served overseas in World War II, staying after the war had ended to help rebuild bridges. He later worked at Uniroyal Tire in Dryden, Ont. and at the local tire shop in Atikokan, Ont. before returning to Pinewood, where he farmed and worked in the bush. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and growing roses. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball, and hockey. He was united in marriage to Florise Larocque on June 25, 1951. Felix was predeceased by his wife, Florise, on Aug. 31, 1972; his parents, Francois Xavier and Emelie; six brothers; and seven sisters. He is survived by his children, Ernie (Elizabeth) of Sioux Lookout, Ont., Claude (Cathy) of Rainy River, Ont., and Fern (Dale Ossachuk), Dave (Grace), and Bert (Sharon Birnie), all of Pinewood, Ont.; grandchildren, Tom, Tyler, Randy, Jason, Audrey (Shane Brown), Mitchell, Nicole, and Dayna Seguin, and Cody Ossachuk; great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Stephan Brown; sister, Leona Fredrickson of Atikokan, Ont.; and by numerous extended family. A prayer service was held Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic Church in Pinewood, with Father James Panikulam officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion (Major Hughes Branch) of Rainy River provided the Last Post tribute. A funeral mass was held Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic Church in Pinewood. Father James Panikulam officiated, with interment in the Pinewood Catholic Cemetery in Pinewood. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Tom, Tyler, Randy, and Jason Seguin, with his nephews, Cory Larocque and Michael White. Honourary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Audrey, Nicole, Mitchell, and Dayna Seguin, and Cody Ossachuk, and his great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Stephen Brown. Né à Saint-Cyrille de l’Islet le 26 juillet 1933, il était le fils de feu Edmond Normand et feu dame Blanche Dancause. Il a fait ses études classiques au Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière et ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire de Québec. Ordonné prêtre le 11 juin 1960, il a oeuvré au Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière de 1960 jusqu’à son décès. Il fut professeur, régent, directeur des élèves, responsable de l’accueil des groupes, secrétaire trésorier de l’Oeuvre Saint-Charles, trésorier de l’Amicale des Anciens du Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. Il fut également vicaire substitut à la paroisse de Saint-Pacôme en 1975-76, vicaire économe à la même paroisse en 1977 et 1979 en plus d’exercer pendant de nombreuses années, le ministère dominical aux paroisses de Sainte-Hélène et Saint-Pacôme. Depuis 1980, il était desservant de la desserte estivale de la Grève de Saint-Denis. Jacqueline Leblanc died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on October 25, 2001. She was 65 years old. She was born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick. Mrs. Leblanc was a member of the Catholic Women's League. She took great pride in her yard, and she enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Leblanc was a Director of Operations to the Northern Times for 40 years, where she was responsible for bookkeeping, payroll and invoices, along with other duties such as subscriptions, circulation and newspaper carriers. Mrs. Leblanc was always loyal to her employer Rene and Olga Piché. One of the gifts that Mrs. Leblanc received at her 40th anniversary with the company was a Seraphin angel. She was predeceased: by her husband, Fernand, five brothers and sisters. The funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 29 at St. Patrick's Church at 10:15 a.m. with Father Roger Pronovost officiating. She is survived by; one daughter Linda Leblanc (Don Biggs) of Timmins; three sisters, Diane Parent, and Shirleen Wedge both of Dalhousie, New Brunswick, and Joan Waller of Toronto; four brothers; Karl Parent of Toronto, Maurice Parent of Montreal, Vernon Parent, brother Jackie Parent all of Dalhousie; three grandchildren Brandon, Justin and Reileigh. Interment took place at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.

KATHRYN ADELE MEYERS Kathryn Adele Meyers, loving wife of Gordon, beloved mother of Grant (Lucinda) and Kim (Geoff), and sister-in-law of Bernice, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 after a long struggle with emphysema. Adele was born in Emo, Ont. to Grant and Vera Littlefield (nee Reid). She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Arlo and Aldie; and is survived by her sister, Lorraine Naucler (Kendall). Adele was a homemaker for many years. Later in life, she taught herself to type and worked part-time as a secretary for mental health at the Emo hospital. Adele’s passions in life were reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and her grandchildren--Katie, Taylor, Spencer, Devin, and Danielle. Her greatest regret was that her illness prevented her from being actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives, but she participated through their stories and pictures. She loved Clearwater Lake, where she spent every summer until her illness prevented her from going. She had many special friendships with her Clearwater family. She will be missed by family, relatives, and friends. WILLMAR HENDRICKSON Willmar Hendrickson, 68, of Dawson Township, Ont., passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 at the Emo Hospital in Emo, Ont. He was born May 12, 1933 in Wilson Creek, Atwood Township, Ont. to the late Charles and Bertha Hendrickson. Willmar spent most of his working life guiding at Hanson’s Wilderness Lodges in Nestor Falls, Ont., and had made numerous friends from the guest he guided for more than 50 years. He loved everyone, but most of all he loved his cribbage games and thoroughly enjoyed it when he could sneak in a skunk or double skunk on someone. He semi-retired to enjoy the company and companionship of his brother, Arvid, at his home on Wilson Creek. You could find him each and every day visiting his sister, Adeline, between 6 and 7 a.m., and his nieces and nephews on Wilson Creek later in the day. On crib nights, he would stop and see his nieces on his way to Nestor Falls. He was well-known for his gentle method of speaking by always choosing his words carefully. Willmar will be missed by each and every one he knew. He was predeceased by his sister, Elvina Drennan; and brothers, Norman and Melvin. Willmar is survived by his two sisters, Adeline Mattison of Rainy River, Ont., and Mildred Road-house of Mission, B.C.; two brothers, Arvid Hendrickson of Rainy River, Ont., and Richard Hendrick-son of Edmonton, Alta; and by numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, Ont. Pastor Pat White will officiate, with interment in McInnis Creek Cemetery in McInnis Creek, Ont. It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Robert on October 26, 2001 at Providence Centre in Scarborough. He died, surrounded by his loving wife Diane and children. He showed great strength and courage during a difficult, year-long battle with brain cancer. Born in Jamaica, Robert was 58 at the time of his death. Loving father to Paul, Nicole and Darryl and grandfather to Dennis, Madalyn and Daniel. Father-in-law to Michelle and Nicholas. Dear brother to Michael, Annette, Helen and Angela; and son to Rose and Gilbert (deceased). A man of few words, he touched many lives with his kindness, integrity and acerbic wit. He was a trustworthy and devoted friend. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. Le Père Léon Desjardins, rédemptoriste, est décédé subitement à Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré, le samedi 27 octobre 2001, à l’âge de 91 ans.Né à Kamouraska, il était fils d’Isidore Desjardins et de Marie Saindon. Ordonné prêtre à Ottawa en 1937, il fut d’abord assigné au Séminaire St-Alphonse où il enseigna les mathématiques et le grec ancien. Puis, après un bref séjour à Montréal comme vicaire paroissial, il passa seize ans au Monastère d’Aylmer où il fut professeur d’apologétique. Il revint ensuite à Montréal pendant trois ans. Le reste de sa vie, près de 41 ans, se passa dans notre maison d’Estcourt, où il fut économe de la Maison et responsable du Centre d’Accueil. Il laisse dans le deuil les membres de sa communauté ainsi que sa sour Gertrude, ses nièces: Claire, Hélène, Jacqueline et Solange Desjardins, ses cousins Jean-Paul et Lucille Picard. Sa dépouille mortelle sera exposée au MONASTÈRE DES RÉDEMPTORISTES 10018 Avenue Royale Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré jeudi 1er novembre de 16h00 à 21h00. ROSIE (KA-TOKE) BOB Mrs. Rosie Ka-toke Bob (nee Madden) passed away peacefully at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2001. She was born in 1915 in the Lake of the Woods area before making her home and raising her family on the Sabaskong Reserve near Nestor Falls, Ont. She enjoyed seeing the birth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and watching them grow up. Ka-toke followed the Ojibway traditional and cultural way of life. She often talked about her early memories of the good life provided by the Creator, following the fishing, wild berry and wild rice, and hunting seasons. She talked about her early years living the seasonal cycle of life on Lake of the Woods. Camping at traditional fishing stations in the spring, at historic garden islands and berry crop locations in summer, and the wild rice fields in the fall. After the wild rice season, she described moving to Kakagi (Crow) Lake, about three miles north of Crow Portage, where her family would set up fall camp to prepare the bounty of the summer harvest as well as to hunt and fish for the winter’s subsistence. Then just before Christmas after the lake safely froze up for travel, her family would move to Crow Portage, where Sabaskong Reserve is now located, and settle in for the winter. Springtime would see them starting the seasonal life cycle over again. Her children were raised to the enjoyment of her traditional teachings, legends, and stories during the winter months by the light of the wood fire. She took great pride in sharing the traditional knowledge of love, honesty, kindness, and respect for all living things. Ka-toke took great pleasure in playing cards and Bingo. She was a gifted artisan, creating intricate beadwork on leather moccasins, vests, and other crafts. She also etched art on birch bark scrolls, baskets, and other products, as well as producing colourfully-designed hooked rugs. Ka-toke was predeceased by her parents, Rosalyn (Azshawazshiik) and John Madden; her brother and sister, Bobby Madden and Flossie Copenace; and her husband, James; her twin sons, Terry and Jerry; as well as a newborn baby. Ka-toke is survived by her sons, Clifford (Anne, Megan, Erin, and Darryl), Delford (Darlene, Janet, and Junior), James, and Robert (Sheila, Sachena, Salena, Clayton, and Seyla); daughter, Roseanne Cowley (Jack, Rebecca, Michelle, and Wanda); sister, Maggie (Shawan) Copenace; and brother, John Madden (Wahsay). She also is survived by special granddaughter, Margaret Bob and several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Family and friends gathered at the gymnasium in Sabaskong on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001 for the wake, followed by traditional Ojibway Catholic services on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001 with Deacon Elmer Mainville officiating. Honourary pallbearers were her nephews, Tony, Norman (Mike), Joseph, Tom, Bob, Ed, Gus, Tim, Milton, Henry, John, Norman, and Patrick Copenace, and Patrick Kelly Sr. The eulogy was given by Tabasonakwut Kinew, whom Ka-toke had adopted in Ojibway traditions as a son. Ka-toke was laid to rest at the Ojibways of Onegaming Cemetery.
