February 1, 1971 - June 2, 2001 Shawn Roy, a resident of Ottawa, passed away at Montreal, P.Q. at the age of 30 years. He was born in Sudbury, and for the last 12 years had been employed as a computer analyst, working for the Department of National Defence. Shawn had many interests and hobbies, including roller blading, bicycling, travelling and computers. Shawn was an extremely talented computer analyst, and took great pride in his abilities. He was a loving son and brother. Shawn was loved very much by his family and friends, and his presence will be sadly missed. Dearly loved son of Pius and Evelyn (Trudeau) Roy of M'Chigeeng; dear and loving brother of Linda Lewis (Billy) of Sault Ste. Marie, Wayne Roy (Kayla) of Sudbury, Roger Roy of M'Chigeeng, Randy Roy (Tracy) of Toronto and Caroline Trudeau of Sudbury. Predeceased by brother Allan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends in the Ottawa area. Friends may call at the M'Chigeeng Complex Tuesday and Wednesday. (of Almonte and Buckingham) Janette died peacefully on June 23, 2001 of cancer. She was surrounded during her illness by her family, friends, caregivers and community in a circle of love and caring, teaching us all a valuable lesson on living with zest and dying with grace. She is now reunited with her husband Carlton Clark Cressy, 1914 - 1980. Janette was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1922; attended St. Mary's Hall, Radcliffe College and nurse's training at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She came to Canada in 1951 with Carlton to settle in Buckingham, Quebec where they raised their three daughters. When Carlton retired in 1979 they made Almonte their home. Wherever Janette was, she made a difference in her community by sharing her time, energy and enthusiasm, involving herself with a wide variety of volunteer work. Janette brought people of all ages together and where Janette went, fun followed. She was the catalyst in bringing the Merrill clan together, whether it was at Blanche Lake, family reunions, weddings, researching the family tree or keeping in touch by old fashioned letter writing. Janette was passionate about tennis and played her last match with her family in October 2000. Predeceased by her siblings Ezra Merrill of boston, Connie Geist and May Young of Pennsylvania. She will be missed by her sister, Elizabeth Farmer (Ross) of Minnesota, brother-in-law, Henry Young and her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy, Martha and Susan thank everyone who came together to make her farewell journey a wonderful experience for all of us who were lucky enough to be with her. She treasured every visit, letter, flower and phone call.
