Predeceased in 1994 by his precious granddaughter, Jillian Bradley. A pioneer in the Canadian commercial aviation industry, Jim led a distinguished career holding office from the far reaches of northern Canada to the Pacific and Southeast Asia. Responsible for Sales, Marketing and Operations, his postings with Canadian Pacific Airlines included Kamloops, Whitehorse, Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Honolulu, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. He retired from Canadian in 1988 to accept a position as a distinguished Member of the National Transportation Agency responsible in a judiciary capacity for Canada's rail, road, aviation, and shipping industries. Jim was described recently as a "Renaissance Man" for his aptitude and ability with engines, carpentry and electronics. He loved to travel: he was most comfortable in an airplane, behind the wheel of car or at the helm of a boat. The place he loved most was the island at Minaki, Ontario, where he and Pat spent their summers with family and friends. He was an official with the Canadian Power Squadron, and a founding member of the Northern Air Transport Association. His many friends around the world will remember him for his warmth, his energy and his fierce loyalty to the people and places he loved. His many friends remember him for his humour, wisdom, music on the piano, and lifelong determination not to be hindered by the effects of polio. Severino (Lolly) Maragno July 24, 1925 - June 18, 2001 Peacefully, on June 18, 2001, at the Henderson General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Severino went to be with his Lord at the age of 76. He is now joyfully reunited with his dear wife Mary, who predeceased him by one short year (March 2000). Severino was the most wonderful and caring father to Marilyn Bull (Bob); Carl and his wife Carla; Linda Gatto (predeceased March 2001) and her husband Gerry; and Annette Brown (Jim). He was extremely proud of each of his grandchildren, Steven, Christopher and Vicky Bull; Nicholas and Daniel Maragno; Gennaro, Severina and Alfredo Gatto; and Bianca and Adriana Brown. He will be deeply missed by his loving sisters-in-law Lucy McSweeney and Pauline Amalfi. Severino was predeceased by his parents Carlo and Maria Maragno, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Fortunato and Caterina Amalfi, his brothers Lindy and Neil Marango, by Neil’s wife Dolores and their son Craig, and by his brothers-in-law Edward McSweeney and Santo (Sonny) Amalfi. Uncle Lolly was always shown great love and respect by his dearly loved nieces and nephews, Fred, Cathy, Rita, Danny, Frank, Joanne, Christine and Brett. Severino retired from Stelco where he was a dedicated and proud 43 year employee of the 12-10 Mill. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and active member of the Hamilton Mountain Rotary Club, as well as a long time member of the YMCA. For many years Dad contributed to the Hamilton Police Minor Amateur Athletic Association and for 14 years he was the Referee-in-Chief for the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).
