RAYMONDE JEANINE LAVALLEE Raymonde Lavallee, 72, of 139 Fourth St. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. Raymonde was born April 5, 1929 in Rennes, France to the late Jean Pierre and Elvire Rouault. She moved to Canada in 1951 and settled in Quebec. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Jean Lavallee. Raymonde was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church parish in Fort Frances. For enjoyment, she loved to cook, fish, sew, and knit, and enjoyed her family and many friends. She was predeceased by one brother, Jean Pierre Rouault. Raymonde is survived by her husband, Jean Lavallee of Fort Frances, Ont.; four sons, Serge and Cheryl of Winnipeg, Man., Richard and Bonnie and Guy and Trenia of Fort Frances, Ont., and Steve of Fort Frances, Ont.; five grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiating. Friends may visit Thursday, June 21, 2001 from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, June 22, 2001 from 1 p.m. until service time at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Honourary pallbearers will be Raymonde’s four sons, Serge Lavallee, Richard Lavallee, Guy Lavallee, and Steve Lavallee, and family friends, Dale Gill and Paul LaFreniere. After completing a nursing course in Montreal Jean was employed for many years at the Huntingdon Hospital. Widow of the late William E.A. Rowat. Cherished sister of Eileen Higginson of Lachute, also survived by nieces and nephews, their families and faithful friends. Predeceased by her sister Irma Grant and her three brothers, James, Harvey and Kenneth. The family wishes to thank the staff of Huntingdon County Hospital for the compassionate care give to Jean during her illness. At the request of the deceased, cremation will take place. Lui survivent aussi: sa soeur Claire, huit petits-enfants et deux arrière-petits-enfants. Il a fait carrière dans le Mouvement Desjardins où il a assumé diverses fonctions administratives. WWII - R.C.A.F. Passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, Ottawa following a short illness at the age of 87 years. Stan was a resident of Sterling Place, Ottawa. He was predeceased by his father Donald, mother Ethel MacLeod, brother George, sister-in-law Doris and one brother-in-law Robert Morrison. Stan is survived by his sister Reta Morrison and nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews including one great-great nephew, all of Alberta, British Columbia and Hawaii. His early years were spent on farms and in small towns in rural Saskatchewan. He worked with his father in the lumber camps of northern Saskatchewan. Following WWII, he had a long career with the Department of Public Works for the Federal Government. His interests included stamp collecting and geneology research. Family was very important to Stan and he will be fondly remembered. A Memorial Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Friday, June 22nd at 7 p.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. (August 20, 1932 - June 18, 2001) Sudden Death, during a playoff hole for his club's victory in San Diego, the consummate sportsman played his last shot - and won the match. In life Harding Dawe's positive attitude and outstanding personality warmed the hearts and touched the lives of all he met. Born to Hazel (Moffatt) and Hugh Dawe in Canso, Nova Scotia in 1932, he will be sadly missed by his wife Anne (Chinkiwsky), children Heather of Italy, Stephen and Laurie of San Diego and Geoffrey of Toronto as well as by their partners, Guido, Debra, Stephen and Wendy. Hugh of Toronto and James of Montreal will long for their best friend and brother. As will his nieces, nephews and cousins. Harding regrets passing too young to fully experience the lives of his grandchildren, Whitney and Jack and Erin too. He was and will always be a father and grandfather to those who needed one and a friend to all. Recently described in an Ottawa newspaper referring to his athletic prowess "as a legend in his time". He cut short his athletic opportunities, when he joined the RCAF as a navigator, followed by a leading career in sales at the Yellow Pages. A certain wanderlust brought him and family to California for several years, returning to Ottawa in the seventies to start the Pennysaver papers in Canada. In semi-retirement, he and Anne relocated to San Diego to be near their grandchildren and Harding's vibrant personality and love for the sport made him the official host of the Mt. Woodson Golf Course. He coached youth sports all of his life and over the recent years was the perfect Santa for the Inner City Youth of San Diego. Harding always lived intensely with charm and joie de vivre - his lust for life made him live to the fullest. His legacy will not be found on parchment. its living in the hearts of hundreds of people all over the world. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 24 at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego. CLARA HAMILTON Clara Hamilton, 89, of Woodyatt, Ont., passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. Clara was born Feb. 26, 1912 in Arbakka, Man. to the late Charles and Carrie Whitehead. Clara moved to the Woodyatt area around 1920 with her father and siblings. She was united in marriage Dec. 3, 1930 to the late William (Bill) Hamilton, who predeceased her Oct. 18, 1990. Clara and Bill made their home on the Hamilton farm in Woodyatt, where she remained until her passing. Clara was an avid gardener who took great pride and pleasure in her flowers. Her fondest pastimes were the family gatherings where everyone took turns at a hand of cards in her favourite game, 500, and watching birds flock to her feeders outside her livingroom window. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is survived by two sons, David and wife, Darlene, of Devlin, Ont., and Bruce and wife, Lynn, of Fort Frances, Ont.; one daughter, Norma and husband, Frank Lundy, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; one daughter-in-law, Carol Hamilton of Winnipeg, Man.; 11 grandchildren, Garry Lundy, Ann Gill, Shawn Hamilton, Jennifer Biasiol, Douglas Lundy, Debbie Schaum, William (Billy) Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, Cheryl McEvoy, Valerie Hamilton, and Justin Hamilton; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and David Gill, Tanna Audette, Tyson Gill, Jessie Schaum, Cailee Lundy, Carly Schaum, Conar Hamilton, Cameron Lundy, Ryhlie Biasiol, Madeleine Hamilton, Ryan Biasiol, and Logan Hamilton. Also surviving is one sister, Ethel and husband, Russell McFarland, of Langley, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara was predeceased by one grandson, Gordon Hamilton on Oct. 3, 1985; brothers, Aaron, Henry, Benjamin, and infant brother, Dearius; and her sister, Ella Hyatt. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Frances Flook officiated, with interment in the Emo Cemetery. DALE LEROY BERG Dale Berg, 59, of Stratton, Ont., passed away at the Rainy River Hospital in Rainy River, Ont. on Sunday, June 17, 2001 following a brief fight with cancer. Dale was born April 22, 1942 in Emo, Ont. to the late Clifford and Myrtle Berg. He lived his life on the farm in Dewart Township, and enjoyed logging and farming as his livelihood. Dale was united in marriage to Shirley Doudiet on Oct. 11, 1963. He loved being around family and friends, as this was the most important aspect of his life. He was predeceased by one brother, George Stang; and by one brother-in-law, Art Neilson. Dale is survived by his wife, Shirley Berg of Stratton, Ont.; four children, Kevin Berg of Toronto, Ont., Curtis Berg and friend, Sandy, of Stratton, Ont., Lionel Berg and wife, Patty, of Devlin, Ont., and Cindy and husband, Maury Nielson, of Stratton, Ont.; and six grandchildren, Katelyn and Tyler Nielson, Samantha Berg, and Darren, Danielle, and Jennifer Shrumm. He also is survived by two brothers, Wilmer Stang and wife, Marjorie, of Stratton, Ont., and William Stang and wife, Evelyn, of Sleeman, Ont.; two sisters, Edith and husband, Bradley Haw, and Kay Neilson; and one sister-in-law, Grace Stang, all of Stratton, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Stratton Millennium Hall in Stratton on Friday, June 22, 2001 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Pat White officiating. Interment will take place in Pineridge Cemetery in North Branch, Ont. All of Dale’s family and friends will be his honourary pallbearers. Gemma était une grande musicienne et une mezzo soprano. Elle a été membre actif de l’Association des Bernier d’Amérique comme secrétaire. Elle a été au delà de 50 ans, membre assidu de la chorale de l’église de Notre-Dame de Bonsecours de l’Islet et était membre perpétuel de l’ uvre de la Terre-Sainte. Elle sera exposée à la résidence funéraire De la Durantaye & Fils Inc. 39, des Pionniers Est l’Islet mercredi de 15h30 à 17h et de 19 à 22h; jeudi, jour des funérailles, à compter de 12h. Le service religieux sera célébré le jeudi 21 juin à 14h, en l’église Notre-Dame Bonsecours de l’Islet, suivi de l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial.
