Passed away peacefully at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, June 8, 2001 at the age of ninety-nine years. Bill was born on May 9, 1902 in Montreal, Quebec. After graduating from the High School of Montreal he worked and owned his own hat manufacturing company. He lived most of his life in Westmount, Quebec. After the passing of his wife and closest friend Rita, Bill moved to Calgary, Alberta in the late 1980's to be near his family. Bill is survived by a son Bud Agnew and a daughter-in-law Marg, both of Calgary, Alberta; two grandchildren Gary (Barb) of London, Ontario and Elizabeth (Al) of Calgary, Alberta; great-grandchildren Brett, Lindsay and Michael. He is also survived by a brother Jeff of Markham, Ontario. Le père Antonio Massé, spiritain À Montréal, le 7 juin 2001, est décédé le père Antonio Massé, spiritain, à l'âge de 91 ans. Natif de St-Hubert de Rivière-du-Loup, il fait son secondaire au Collège St-Alexandre de Gatineau, puis sa philosophie et théologie en France où il est ordonné le 3 octobre 1937. De 1938 à 1959, on le retrouve à Limbour, dans différentes fonctions: sous-directeur à notre petit séminaire, surveillant et professeur au collège, directeur de notre revue d'alors, le Bulletin des Pères du St-Esprit (1945-1951), et curé-fondateur de la paroisse Saint-Alexandre. De 1959 à 1975, il est missionnaire au Nigéria, au diocèse de Likoja. En charge de la construction de la cathédrale, il est deux fois vicaire général par intérim. Il est de retour au pays en 1975. Curé d'abord à St-Marc-du-Lac-Long (diocèse de Rimouski), il l'est ensuite à St-Séraphine (Nicolet) pendant 14 ans. Il prend sa retraite à notre maison de Québec en 1994 et à Montréal en 1998. Reconnu pour son optimisme, le père Massé, jusqu'à la fin, tient à rendre service à ses confrères, dans la mesure de ses forces. Il sera exposé à la Résidence Le Roy des Spiritains, 3136, rue The Boulevard, Montréal, le dimanche 10 juin 2001, de 14h à 22h et le lendemain de 10h à 13h. With failing health he moved to Ottawa 3 years ago to be near family. Heartfelt thanks to the 3rd Floor Staff at the West End Villa for their wonderful care which made his last months as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Hope Cemetery (4660 Bank Street) on Tuesday June 12, 2001 at 2 p.m. Cremated remains will be buried at Grand Valley, Ontario at a later date. Colonel CM, OStJ, CD On Wednesday, May 23, 2001, in the QE2 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia, "Jack" Kinnaird in his 97th year. Born May 5, 1905 in Shellbrook, Rupert's Land (now known as Saskatchewan), he was a son of the late William and Grace (McLean) Kinnaird. After the death of his father and young brother from typhoid in 1910, his family moved to Hammond, Ontario. The Colonel was known and loved by several generations of children. In 1998 he was awarded with a 50-year volunteer pin from the IWK-Grace Hospital in recognition of his tireless devotion to the children who needed a friend and he held a life membership in the hospital. Colonel Kinnaird was awarded the Order of Canada in 1987 in recognition of his long service to children in need. In 1984 he was honoured with a Community Services Award by the Province of Nova Scotia. Jack had several careers, and enjoyed each one for the challenges it offered. He worked for the Royal Bank from 1924-1939, serving in several communities in the Ottawa Valley area. He was proudly commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Pay Corps. After the war he remained in the Pay Corps and Lt. Colonel Kinnaird retired in 1956 as the Area Paymaster, Atlantic Command. In 1960 he was appointed Executive Director; Easter Seals and March of Dimes. From 1967-1980 the Colonel was Commandant of the Nova Scotia Division, Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, and was an Honourary Member of the Corps Board of Directors until his death. He was an active member of many volunteer organizations including the Halifax (Protestant) Youth Foundation; YMCA's of Halifax, Frederiction, and Ottawa; Canadian Diabetes Society; Order of Saint John, The North British Society; Epilepsy Society of Nova Scotia; Fort Massey United Church. Jack is survived by his sons Charles (Terry) Daughney, Petawawa, Edward (Doris) Daughney, Vancouver; daughter Katie Kinnaird, Halifax; grandsons Stephen (Pembroke), Christopher (Ottawa) and Trevor (Hong Kong); granddaughters Charlotte (Toronto) and Bridget (Vancouver); great-grandson Jordan (Cape Town, South Africa); many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews; and the many close friends whose love sustained him. He was predeceased by his dearly missed wife, Catherine (Jones) (Daughney), his brother Dr. Francis (Frank), sister Wilhelmina and infant brother Robert. Jack was the last surviving member of his generation of the family. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Duncan Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 6971 Bank Street, (formerly Highway 31, south of Greely and north of Metcalfe) from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Friday in the Chapel for Service at 11 a.m. A time of refreshment and fellowship will immediately take place with inurnment to follow at Hammond Protestant Cemetery.
