(Grant) On 23 April, 2001 "Winsome" Foran, beloved wife of the late John Arthur Foran, passed away in her 94th year. She is survived by her daughter Jill (the late John Skelton) of Toronto, her son Dick (Elizabeth Girvin) of Anguilla, Br. West Indies, two granddaughters, Susan Foran and Lynne Foran (Michael Spragge) and one great-granddaughter Kathleen Foran-Spragge, all of Toronto. She is also survived by her sister Gwenyth (Mrs. F. G. Fenton) of Ottawa, her brother Ronald Grant (Elisabeth Gussow) of Burnett, Quebec and her sister-in-law Mildred Grant of Ottawa. Two sisters, Mavis (Mrs. E.S. (nee Glenn) Peacefully with her family at her side, Friday, April 27, 2001 at the age of 62 years. Beloved wife of Malcolm, devoted mother of James and Jonathan and his wife Shelley. Dear step daughter of Lillian Thibert, sister to Jean, Gloria, Donald, Robert, Arthur, Gerard, Percy, Nancy and Jeff. Survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Jon, Ruth and Tony. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces and friends. Pre-deceased by her mother and father Marshall and Rose Glenn, sisters Patricia and Sally and brother Bob. A graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Windsor, Ontario, Shirley was passionate about life and devoted herself to teaching, first in the classroom and once her sons were born, to them. As the wife of an army officer, Shirley travelled the world living in Germany, India, Pakistan, Israel and five of the Canadian provinces. In each place she lived, she embraced the local culture and used the world as a classroom for her family. Shirley lived her life in the belief that everyone had good in them. You just had to give them the opportunity to show it. The world is a better place because Shirley's love for life. Baby David was born on April 20, 2000. All too soon he left us for a better place. He died peacefully at CHEO on April 25, 2001, after succumbing to a type of metabolic encephalopathy about which there is little known. David was the treasured son of Lynn Gutoskie. He delighted all those who knew him, especially Grandma and Grandpa, Helen and Basil Gutoskie of Barry's Bay. He will be missed by Uncle Frank, his godfather, and Beth Lalonde, his godmother, mourned by Uncle Gerry and Aunt Bobbie, and remembered by his father, David Clendining. Warmest thanks to the staff at CHEO who did all that they could, and, in many cases, far more than they had to.
