Rita Priestley February 19, 1925 - April 07, 2001 Funeral arrangements by Richmond Funeral Home Of Richmond, passed away on April 7, 2001, at the age of 76. Predeceased by Jack, her beloved husband of 43 years, in March 1990. Survived by son Glen (Heidi), grandchildren Tristan and Laura of Richmond, and daughter Patricia, grandchildren Michael and Larry of California. Born in England, Rita won the heart of her Canadian Soldier and came to Vancouver to start a new life after WW II. Rita’s life was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed bowling, swimming, travel, family, friends and laughter. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her. Paisiblement, dans une grande dignité et entouré de sa famille, Rénald Chrétien est décédé le 9 avril 2001, au Centre hospitalier des Vallées de l’Outaouais, à Gatineau (PQ). Né en 1937 à Mont-Louis (PQ), Rénald a grandi à Ste- Anne-des-Monts en Gaspésie. Il était retraité de la Fonction publique fédérale. Père aimant et dévoué de Jacqueline Chrétien (David Matheson) de Toronto et de Kathleen Chrétien (Terry Linford) d’Ottawa. Il a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents François Chrétien et Bernadette Bernier, par ses frères Alcide (Denise Pelletier, décédée) et Claude. Frère chéri de Eudade (Michelle Hovington) de St-Bruno (PQ), Oviette Crousett (René, décédé) de Ste-Annedes- Monts, Léonard (Andrée Sasseville) de Ste-Anne-des-Monts, et Léopold de Laval (PQ). Il a également survécu à ses bellessœurs Simone (Beaulieu) de Ste-Anne-des- Monts et Denise (Thibault) de Chicoutimi. Il manquera beaucoup à son oncle Gédéon Bernier de Montréal et à plusieurs neveux et nièces. Sa première épouse et mère de ses enfants, Evelyn Adams (Cummings), se souviendra affectueusement de lui. Il manquera également à ses compagnons d’aventures de pêche et de chasse qui lèveront un verre à son souvenir. Ses amis connaissaient son esprit généreux, son sens de l’humour, son sourire facile et son amour de la nature. Merci au Dr Louise Rooke et au personnel du CHVO de Gatineau pour le dévouement et la gentillesse qu’ils ont montrés à Rénald. (nee Lebovitz). At her home in Vancouver, after a courageous battle with cancer on April 8, 2001. A native Montrealer, Lorna was a dedicated special-education teacher whose career began in 1959. She touched the lives of countless students, both in Montreal and Vancouver. Lorna maintained an active social life and loved to be where the action was. In her late years, she became an avid square dancer and adored the people she met, especially her dedicated partner Bob Depree. She was predeceased by her son Barry and is survived by her daughter Karen. She is sadly mourned by her brother Don Lebovitz and her sister, Marge Feldman, their children and grandchildren in Toronto. A special thank-you to the staff of the VGH Cancer Clinic and to the community-health team who worked tirelessly on her behalf. Rikard Bo Johan Backstrom September 05, 1943 - April 04, 2001 Funeral arrangements by Richmond Funeral Home Rikard Bo Johan born in Delary, Sweden on September 5, 1943, passed away suddenly in Quebec on April 4, 2001. A loving son, husband, father, brother, friend, he was predeceased by his father Bo Otto in 1964. He will be deeply missed and mourned by his mother, Gunvor, his loving wife, Shirley, sons Erik and Janne, brother Peter (Julia), niece Andrea, step-son Wade (Anke), grandson Daniel, and many relatives and friends. Rik graduated from Orebro College, Sweden in 1964, as a Chemical Engineer. He immigrated to Canada in 1967. Much of his career was spent with Chemetics International, where he held several positions over a period of 27 years. After leaving Chemetics, he worked for Electrocatalytic out of Singapore and traveled throughout Southeast Asia, and Australia and Europe. At the time of his death, he was employed with U.S. Filter. A tireless and dedicated worker, he accomplished many things in his life. Throughout his career, he traveled extensively world wide and enjoyed all the business contacts and friends he acquired during this time. A Celebration of Rik’s Life was held on Wednesday April 11, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Rd., Richmond, B.C.
