As well as her religious community, Sister leaves to mourn her sister, Velma, her beloved nieces, Margaret Bick and Debbie Mahoney, and nephews, Leonard Bick, Jerry Bissette and T. J. O'Reilly. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerry and her sisters, Anne, Bernice and Patricia. Sister's life of service was spent in providing housekeeping services in Toronto, Windsor, Sault Ste. Born March 27, 1930 in New Glasgow, N.S., passed away March 27, 2001, in Hawksbury, Ontario. Son of the late Isabel and Howard Cantley. Pre-deceased by his son David Ross in 1973, and brothers Tom and Colin, and sister Helen. Ross had a great passion for the sea and was active in sailing in Baie d'Urfe, Que. He was a committed fund raiser for the Penny Cole and David Cantley Fund at the Montreal Children's Hospital. He expressed great creativity with clay sculpture of shore birds and was a member of the Baie d'Urfe Potter's Guild. Fondly remembered by Carmen Lariviere, Beverley Cantley Merryfield, nieces and nephews Ellen, Donald, Ann, Joan and Isabel, and his many friends in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Los Angeles and the Montreal area. Surrounded by the love of his family, Kenneth Hughes took the final step to be with his beloved wife Joan who went to prepare the way to the Lord in 1988. He died at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital on April 3, 2001 in his 80th year. Ken will be remembered by his loving children, Mary-Joan (Richard) Hale, Judith, Patrick (Leslie), Kenneth (Lise), Christopher (Carol), David (Tina), as well as by his grandchildren Michael (Julie), Taben and Devin Hale, Bill, Gregg, Jamie, Faye, K.J., Andy, Christopher, Brian, Joey, David and Emily Hughes; his sister Estelle Shaw (Jim), his brothers Jack (Bette), Bern (Eleanor), and Gerry (Terry) Hughes and their families. Ken was predeceased by his parents Catherine Theresa McMahon (1958) and John Henry Hughes (1968), his brother-in-law Frank (1993) and his sister Rita (1996). Ken grew up and was educated in Sandy Hill and graduated with a B.A. from St. Patrick's College in 1950. He served with the Fleet Air Arm during WW II and served 48 years with the Public Service. He had a great sense of humour and no one enjoyed a good joke or clever pun better. He loved a sing-song especially in chorus with his brothers Gerry and Bern, with his brother Jack at the piano. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Friday to Holy Redeemer Church, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata, for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m. Intement Hope Cemetery.
