Dear wife of the late Grant Blackwell Longhurst, cherished sister of Dr. Ralph Girvan of London, Ontario and Katherine Robertson of Halifax, beloved sister-in-law of Shan Fuller Girvan and the late Nora Pugsley Girvan and Harold "Robbie" Robertson; adored mother of the late Dr. Mark Longhurst of Chilliwack, B.C. and Ann Vroom-Lank of Montreal; very special mother-in-law to Debby Hueston Longhurst and David Lank; irreplaceable Nanny to Christina, Brian and Robbie Vroom and Grant, Hugh and Sarah Longhurst, and great-grandmother to Mark Rafael Longhurst. Sadly missed by her extraordinary circle of friends in the Town of Mount Royal and Myrtle Beach. Dear father of Andrew (Verna), Stephen, Patricia Barr (David), Raymond, James (Linda), Shirley Hill (Les). Loving grandfather of Scott, Heather, Patrick, Geofrey, Lisa, Tracy, Michael, Charity, Emily, Elizabeth, Carolyn, Christina, Paula and Stuart. Brother of Mary and Norman of Middlesbrough, England. Predeceased by sister Joyce. Born in Middlesbrough, England, December 30, 1916. Tom served as a Captain in the Royal Engineers during the war of 1940 - 1945. He emigrated to Canada with his wife Joan in 1954. Tom served as a Professional Engineer in Ontario and Quebec between 1954 - 1981. Always an avid gardener, Tom took up bee keeping in 1982 and was active in his hobby until recently. No visitation by request of the deceased.
