With dignity and humour, following a bout with pneumonia, February 28th, 2001, at Extendicare, Oakville, George Van Norman Sainsbury, in his eightieth year, beloved father to Vicki, Alan and Erica and his special buddy, Dundee. Embraced by his family's love following a weekend visit. Lovingly remembered and already fondly missed, George rejoiced at becoming a father again at age 60 when and he and his wife Kathleen Walker became parents to Erica. The son of the late Arthur and Jean Sainsbury and older brother to Van, he grew up in Toronto attending University of Toronto Schools, University of Toronto and University of Chicago. George joined the Public Service in Ottawa in the early 50's where he worked as Economist for thirty seven years within the Tariff Board, Board of Transport and the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority. Passed away February 21, 2001 in her 95th year, after a brief illness, in St. Thomas, ON. Loving aunt of Barbara Bruce, Edwin and Brit Ongley, Catherine Veale, Gail DeVeau, Deborah Brittain, and Brian Brittain, sister-in-law of Doris Brittain, brother-in-law of Fred Ongley, and good friend of the late Margaret Gourlay. She will be missed by her many grand nieces and nephews. Louise grew up in Ottawa, and graduated from McGill University in Food Administration. She worked for Bell Canada as a dietitian in Montreal and Toronto and served with the RCAF during the war developing more appropriate rations for the airmen. After the war she lived for many years in Aurora with her dear friend Margaret Gourlay and moved to London in 1997 in order to be closer to her extended family. Her remains will be interred in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa at a private ceremony.
