Passed away peacefully and with dignity on February 23, 2001 after a long and courageous struggle in his seventy-second year. Survived by his loving and devoted wife Marija Hozjan. Beloved father of Lisa (Bernie), Vera (Michel) and Mary (Jose). Dear godfather of Richard Horvat, uncle and great-uncle of Daniella Hozjan and her daughter Helena. He leaves to mourn relatives in Slovenia, France and Argentina. Most heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Charles LeMoyne Hospital for their superb care and compassion, especially the staff at the Dialysis Department. Rest in peace "Joe the Best". R.C.N.-National Research Council Peacefully on February 20, 2001, in his 84th year. Loving husband of Jean Louise (Forrester) and beloved father of Alyson, Ottawa. Predeceased by brother Ian, Argyllshire. Survived by sister Mary (Alasdair) Watson, sister-in-law Jean (Ian) Smith, of Stirling, and by nieces and nephews in Scotland and England, and a brother-in-law, Drummond Forrester, California. Neil graduated from Stowe College of Engineering, Glasgow, and the Royal College of Science & Technology, Glasgow. He served in WWII in the Royal Navy and post war in the R.C.N. as an Aeronautical Engineering Officer. His Public Service years were spent with the National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa, including a 6 year Accreditation to the Canadian High Commission, London, England. He held appointments with the Division of Mechanical Engineering, Ottawa, and the National Aeronautical Establishment, Ottawa. The latter as Project Administrator, Canada Arm Program, for the NASA Space Shuttle. Neil was active in his church. Over the years he served as Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, a Presbytery Delegate and President of the Ottawa Lay School of Theology. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. in MacKay United Church, 257 MacKay Street, Ottawa. Cremation. Interment Beechwood. Rev. John David Forsdyke Peacefully, February 21st, of natural causes at age 84, in Scarborough, England. Born in London in 1916, Rev. John was educated at Merton College, Oxford; Westcott House, Cambridge; and received his Ph.D in Divinity from McGill. He was Priest of St. Mary's (Stoke Newington) in London, during the Blitzkrieg and was honoured for saving many lives from the fires and flooded bomb shelters that plagued his parish. After the War, John married Barbara Hadcock of Lancashire, who had served in the Womens' Land Army. In 1947 John became Priest-in-Charge of the St. Clement's Anglican Mission on the North Shore of the St. Lawrence in Quebec Labrador. From Harrington Harbour and Baie des Moutons he ministered to the people of the river settlements, the islands and inland homesteads, and the Eastern Cree, in planes, boats, and on komatiks. In 1952 he was asked by Geoffrey Fisher, Archbishop of Canterbury, to be a Fellow of Canterbury Cathedral and Vicar of St. Michael's and All Angels, Harbledown. In 1957 he became Professor of Divinity and Theology at Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec, where he taught for twenty years. He was well known as a pastoral counselor throughout Quebec's Eastern Townships and New England. In 1976 he returned to England as Priest of St. Andrew's and St. Anne's in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. In 1986 he retired with his beloved wife Barbara to Norton-on-Derwent in Yorkshire. Barbara died in October 1999. Rev. John is survived by his two sons, David and Philip; their wives Jane Stayt and Diane Clairoux, all of Ottawa; and five grandchildren, Alexandra and Elizabeth of New York, and Edward, Helene and Charles of Ottawa. OLS (Ontario Land Surveyor and Certified Photogrammetrist). Peacefully at home on Thursday, February 22, 2001, aged 71 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Audrey McNab; sons Roderick (Valerie) of Tobermory, Michael (Donna) and Gregory (Brenda) of Toronto. Loving grandfather of Jessie and Graeme Anderson of Tobermory and Dexter Barrows of Toronto. He is also survived by brothers Harold (Jocelyn) of Guelph, Jim (Betty) of Kamloops and sisters Kathleen Hodgson (Bob) of Richmond, BC, Marjorie Hutlett (Eddie) of Winnipeg and June Johnson (Graham) of Kamloops. He was predeceased by his parents Jim Anderson and Annie Sanderson of New Westminster, BC, brother Alvin Anderson and sister Edith Anderson, both of New Westminster, B.C. Upon graduation from the Portage Collegiate Institute at Portage la Prairie MB, Ed enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers and began his early training at Chilliwack, BC. He was soon selected as a candidate to attend the School of Military Survey, Army Survey Establishment in Ottawa. In the early 50's he completed his contractual term and left the Army Engineers to join Canadian Aero Service - a new surveying and mapping firm just starting up in Ottawa; but soon to become very active on the international scene. During his 35 year career with the company, Ed served in responsible charge of numerous surveying and mapping projects in West Africa, North Africa, Middle East, Central America, USA and in every Canadian province/territory. Ed was a member of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors, the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, the American Society of Photogrammetry and life member of the Canadian Institute of Surveying and Mapping. He was also a member of Christ Church Cathedral, Osgoode Township Male Choir, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #314, Manotick and The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. age 78 of Howie Centre, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia and formerly of Ottawa. Passed away Thursday, February 22, 2001 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she had lived in both Ottawa and Hamilton before moving to Nova Scotia. She had been employed for almost 20 years at R.C.M.P. Headquarters in Ottawa and Mary had been an avid painter and artist. Survived by her son Joseph (Margaret) of Coxheath, Nova Scotia and daughters Minka "Mary" (Stephen) Hunter, Moose Jaw, Sask., and Sylvia Burton of Ottawa, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Predeceased by her husband Joseph, a daughter Barbara in infancy and a brother. Visitation is at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney, Nova Scotia on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River.
