"A bright light has gone out" Peacefully with her parents at her side on Saturday, February 17, 2001; age 50 years. Cherished daughter and only child of Richard (Dick) and Dorothy McWilliams. Granddaughter of the late Wellington and Zita McWilliams and also of the late Dalton and Beatrice Rouselle. Linda received her teaching degrees from Ottawa University Cornwall Campus and McArthur College in Kingston. She taught in Cornwall for 26 years with the S.D. & G. Public School Board at Viscount Alexander School, Central Public School and Saint Lawrence High School. Linda was well known to her students as "Mademoiselle McWilliams, our French teacher." In recognition for her excellence in teaching French Immersion, Linda received a certificate of Merit from the Canadian Association of Immersion Teachers. Her interest in the teaching profession inspired her to co-author two French teaching manuals. All who knew and loved her will miss her greatly. Resting at the Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West from 2 p.m. Tuesday. While surrounded by all of us who loved her Mom (Nanny) fought her last courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gerhig's disease) on Friday, February 16, 2001. Left to cherish precious memories are her daughters Muriel Beaubien (Lambert), Sheila Dudman (Dan Taite) and Lyla Johnston. Also three grandchildren, Shamus, Stacey and Neil. Kaye served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943-46. She worked as a civilian with the D.N.D. for 35 years. After retirement, with great dedication, she volunteered for 7 years with the Ottawa-Carleton Police Centre. (Park) 1903-2001 It is with great sorrow that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren announce the passing of "Grandma Florrie" on Saturday, February 17th 2001 at the Kingston General Hospital in her 98th year. Unable to survive a recent stroke, she now joins her husband Ross and eldest son Paul. Florrie is deeply mourned by her sons and daughters-in-law Douglas and Beverly of Napanee, Robert and Kathryn (Derby) of Kingston and William and Patricia of Vancouver. She will also be lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren: Doug and Bev's daughters Janice, Kelly, Jill, Pam, Meg and Kate; Bob's family Joseph (Stephanie), Karen, Michael (Diane) and Samantha (Stephen); and Bill's family Carolyn (FranÁois), Wendy and Craig. Her 11 great-grandchildren and her older sister Marge Park of Vancouver will very much miss Florrie. Born of Irish parents in Philadelphia in 1903, who returned to Belfast and then later emigrated to Vancouver in 1914, Florrie lived life to the full with a keen interest and joy in everything and everyone around her. She retained her love of teaching throughout her entire life and remained a passionate supporter of family, friends and students. Her strong, wise counsel and love will be sorely missed.
