With dignity, at St. Joseph's Health Care Center in London, Ontario after a brief illness on Friday, January 12, 2001, Charles W. (Chick) Wagner in his eighty-first year. Chick was the beloved husband of Leslie Forsyth (nee Hall of Quebec) for fifty-six years, devoted father of Brenda and Graham, loving grandfather of Lyle and Grace and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Chick grew up in Toronto. A veteran of WW II. He and Les met on a posting to Ancien Lorette, Quebec in 1941. After the war he joined the headquarters of Canadian Railways in Montreal and served his entire career as a track engineer. He lived out his retirement dream for 20 years, spending summers at a cottage he and Les built on Sparrow Lake in Muskoka and winters in Arizona. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Rideout Street South, London, Ontario on Monday, January 15 at 1 p.m. with Mrs. Heather Bedford of First Andrew's United Church officiating. Chick loved Sparrow Lake and in his memory donations to the Couchiching Conservancy, 333 Mary Street, Orillia, Ontario would be appreciated. Born July 2, 1931 in Jaipur, India, passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus on January 13, 2001 surrounded by his family. Dear son of the late Rameshwar Prasad and Satya Vati Bhargava. Predeceased by his wife Dr. Usha Bhargava, and two brothers Gyanesh and Munna. Loving father of Ravi (Radha), Nalin (Indrayani), and Shashi. Adoring grandfather of Keshav, Nikhilesh, and Nisha. Sadly missed by the family of his brother Somesh (Anju, Puneet, Shubhra, Anuj, Neha), two sisters Shakuntala and Sharda, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces around the world. Raj Bhargava was born and raised in Jaipur. He obtained a B.E. (Engineering) from Benarcs Hindu University and did postgraduate training at Marconi College in Cambridge, England. He came to Ottawa in 1960 after obtaining his P.Eng. and worked for 32 years in the Department of National Defence, retiring as Chief Engineer, Electronic Warfare, Maritime Command. His great love was the East Indian community of Ottawa. He took pride in his friendship with up to 4 generations of families in Ottawa. He was an original founder and served as the second President of the India-Canada Association of Ottawa. His other great joy was his community service with the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and the Professional Institute of Public Service. He served as the President of the Lions Club of Ottawa Centre in 1973. He was also a loyal member of the Old Crows. The family thanks doctors Shaun McGuire, Anil Sharma and Linda Scully for their medical care.
