Of Moncton, at the age of eighty years died on Friday, January 12, 2001 at the Moncton Hospital. Born on April 24, 1920 in Moncton, N.B. he was a son of the late Abenic Richard and Mabel (Leblanc). He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the R.C.A.F. He attended St. Joseph College. Before his retirement he worked at Canadair Ltd. on Ville St. Laurent, Quebec. He is survived by his beloved wife Bernice (Berube) Richard, his brother-in-law Roger and Esther Berube of Dieppe, sister-in-law Violette (Berube) and Paul Strassner of Rochester, N.Y. Special nieces and godchild Noreen and Lynn Berube of Moncton, special nephew and godchild Ronald Richard of Winnipeg, Manitoba, sisters-in-law Jacqueline (LeBlanc) Richard of Moncton and Phyllis (Bourgeois) Richard of Dollard des Ormeaux and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one sister Jeannette White (Terry) and two brothers George and Paul. The funeral mass will be held from the St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Botsford Street, Moncton on January 13, 2001 at 10 a.m. Father Bernard Sloan officiating. Tom's life ended on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 after a brave struggle with cancer. He will be remembered with much love by his family: his wife Judy, his children Anne and Mark, their spouses John Leibycz and Jamie Spencer, his grandchildren Tom and Kirsten and his sister Eva Rayner. Special thanks to Dr. Bill Newton and wonderful friends who have helped and supported us throughout Tom's ordeal. Tom is being cremated at his request. Suddenly at her Riverpark Place residence in Ottawa on Sunday, January 7, 2001 at 88 years. Predeceased by her parents of Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, Alexander Hugh MacPherson and Mary Ann MacPhee; brothers Joseph, John, Alphonse and sister Isabel Egan (Edward). Survived by her nieces Joanne Tobin (George Barry) of Ottawa, Rita McLelland (friend Mus) of Majorca, Lois Conlin (Bob) of Manitoulin Island and a nephew Joseph MacPherson (Dyah) of Indonesia and grandniece Catherine and grandnephew Shawn MacPherson of Newmarket. Miss MacPherson was a teacher until retirement for the Halifax School Board mainly at St. Francis School. She will be lovingly remembered by family, friends, students and Riverpark Place staff - caregivers for her devotion and commitment to others. With her strong faith and teaching skills Peggy gave her time in many ways - preparing children for 1st communion, parents for baptism of their children and refugees sponsored by Canadian Martyrs' Parish (Halifax) a caring adjustment to their new country. A Memorial Service followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will take place at Canadian Martyrs' Church (Halifax) in the Spring or Fall of 2001 when all the family can be present. 1912 - 2001 After a lengthy illness, Gerald Douglas King at the St. Jacques Nursing Home, January 6, 2001. Gerry was born in Brandon, Manitoba, the son of Nicolas and Florence King. With the exception of his years of service with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War, Gerry's employment was principally with the Federal Civil Service in Toronto and Ottawa. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, by his sister Margaret and by his brother Victor. He is survived by nieces Elizabeth Wilson, Diana Jarvis and Laura Langford and nephews David Jarvis, Paul Jarvis and Gary Jarvis, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. No funeral service will be held in Ottawa. A committed secretary, and then a dedicated high school and junior college teacher in Quebec for many years. The value she placed on education was reflected in her commitment to both her students and to the advancement of her own education (BA '62, Sir George Williams University; Diploma in Advanced Studies in Education '78, Bishop's University). She leaves to mourn her daughter Angela, along with her many friends, relatives and former students. Her compassion, generosity and empathy towards others were exceeded only by her devotion to her beloved mother Lura and to her cherished daughter. Her daughter wishes to express her thanks to all those who were generous and kind to her mother over the years.
